Falling For My Accidental CEO Husband-Chapter 233: Show Me
Chapter 233: Show Me
"Will you stop staring at the ring?" Aiden asked with a groan, setting his soup spoon down with an exaggerated shake of his head his expression a mixture of exasperation and amusement.
Serena grinned, utterly unrepentant, as she reached across the table to take his hand in hers. Without hesitation, she brought his fingers to her lips and pressed a playful kiss on his knuckles. "It’s not the ring I’m staring at," she said, her voice teasing as her gaze flicked up to meet his. "It’s your hand. It looks good wearing my ring. You’ve gor sexy hands."
Aiden raised an eyebrow at her cheeky tone, turning his hand over to catch her fingers before she could pull away. His grip was firm yet gentle, his thumb brushing lightly over her knuckles as his lips twitched into a small smirk. "Well, if my hand looks so good with your placeholder ring on it," he quipped, leaning slightly closer, "doesn’t that mean we should start planning our wedding?"
Serena blinked, then narrowed her eyes in mock indignation as she tugged her fingers free from his grasp. "Hold on, buddy," she said, crossed her arms and fixed him with a playful glare. "Let’s get one thing straight—this is not my ring. This is just a temporary stand-in."
Aiden leaned back in his chair, feigning shock as he placed a hand over his heart. "You wound me.I thought we were making progress. Here I was, already thinking of a venue choices..."
Serena rolled her eyes, though a smile tugged at her lips. "Don’t worry. I’ll be done with the designs soon, and then you’ll have full permission to unleash your inner bride and plan our marriage to your heart’s content."
Aiden tilted his head, a wicked grin spreading across his face. "You mean I get free reign?" he teased, not the least bit bothered about being called a bride. Since he was getting proposed to, he’d simply enjoy everything. "You’ve just made a terrible mistake, my dear honey."
"Oh, I’m counting on it," she shot back with a laugh, "But just so we’re clear—you’re definitely not keeping any surprises..."
"Not keeping any surprises?" Aiden asked with exaggerated disappointment. He slumped back in his chair, letting out a dramatic sigh as though her words had truly wounded him. "You’re really killing my flair for the dramatic, Serena. What’s a wedding without a few surprise touches from the groom-to-be?"
Serena smirked, leaning forward on her elbows, her chin resting on her clasped hands. "Oh, I’m sure you’ll find a way to be dramatic anyway."
Aiden groaned, shook his head as he rose to his feet, and collected their dishes. "You’re impossible," he muttered with mock defeat,"I’m clearing the table before this conversation derails."
Serena watched him with a satisfied smile as he moved around the table, gathering plates and glasses with practiced ease. His movements were always graceful and somehow mesmerizing. She could watch him for hours on end. She waited until he turned his back, placing the last dish on the counter, before slipping out of her chair.
Quietly, she approached him from behind, wrapping her arms around his waist. Her cheek pressed against his back, and she held him there for a moment, feeling the steady rhythm of his breathing. "Thank you," she murmured softly.
Aiden froze briefly at her sudden gesture but quickly relaxed, a warm smile spreading across his face. He turned around in her embrace, his hands coming to rest on her shoulders. His gaze softened as he looked down at her, his eyes searching hers. "What’s that for?" he asked, his voice quiet.
Serena shrugged, her arms sliding up to rest around his neck. "For putting up with everything. For always making me delicious food. For being you. For looking good while wearing my ring." Her lips curved into a mischievous grin, though her eyes were tender.
Aiden chuckled, leaning down until their foreheads almost touched. "You make it sound like I’m doing something extraordinary," he said, "When really, I’m just hopelessly in love with you."
Serena’s breath hitched at the declaration, but before she could respond, Aiden closed the distance between them, capturing her lips in a kiss that was as warm as it was unhurried. His hands slid from her shoulders to her waist, pulling her closer as he deepened the kiss.
For a moment, the world fell away, leaving just the two of them. The playful banter, the teasing, and the jokes faded into a quiet, shared certainty. When they finally pulled apart, Serena rested her forehead against his, her eyes fluttering open to meet his gaze.
"You’re still not getting away with any surprises," she whispered, her breath mingling with his.
Aiden smirked, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. "We’ll see, honey. We’ll see."
She looked into his eyes and once again, felt amazement. He was not looking for an answer. He’d confessed his love to her and that was it. Like always, there was no expectation of an answer.
But she wanted to say the words. Needed to say them. He’d always shown her with his actions and she’d tried to do that too. But now the words were out. She threw her arms around him and leaned up, kissing his chin.
"And I am in love with you, Aiden Hawk," she said, the words tumbled out easily, without hesitation. "I’ve loved you for longer than I’ve been willing to admit to myself. I love the way you cook even when I’m not hungry, the way you make me laugh even when I want to be mad, the way you hold me like I’m the most precious thing in your world. I think I fell in love with you when I woke up from that coma and fell into your arms."
Aiden smiled and kissed her softly. "Really. Then we are even. I think I fell in love with you in that moment too."
Serena grinned and gave him a lopsided smile," It seems the cupid was working very hard at the time."
