Chapter 105 - 105. Set up

I flipped the coin again, only for it to turn black when I slapped it on the back of my hand, which meant the future of one of her counterparts, probably the one that was the nearest. Future, even if it regarded a counterpart of a dead body, we know is no good, so I intercepted, and luckily managed to do so.

Then I tried revealing it on my palm to at least see the past of one of her counterparts.

Gold, eyes and ears uncovered.

A tall, skinny black-haired girl with rings under her eyes, around her mid-twenties, walks up and down a dilapidated room. Two much older, emaciated people sit on the ground and watch her—a man and a woman.

"Sit down for a bit, darling, eat something." The woman says while clutching the hand of her husband.

"No. Be quiet." The girl says, not stopping her footsteps.

She looks at the entrance door of the flat they are in, and notices that the fabric that was stuffed into the door slit was partly loose. She widens her eyes and rushes to the door, securing the fabric again.

"Are you there? Did you get him?" The girl asks, but neither of the older people answers her, just looking at each other in concern.

She stops in her tracks.

"Good! Very good. I knew it! I told you that we have to kill him, but before that, you have to wait. Hold hands with him; no matter if you sleep or if you eat, you have to touch him. When his eyes turn red, that is the cue for you to kill him."

Tears stream down the old woman's face, and her husband pulls her even closer to him so that she can burrow her face on his chest, while he covers her ear with his hand.

"THAT WAS ONLY ONCE!" The girl looks around in panic, before quieting down again.

"I know I have given you bad advice so far, but you survived each time, didn't you? I am sorry. I am truly sorry! But if he doesn't die, you will be in danger!"

"No! Nonono! Not now! You have to wait, okay? Please wait until his eyes turn red, then you can absorb his power."

"I am not lying! I promise you, just remember that you have to touch him and that you definitely have to kill him."

She finally breathes out a sigh of relief.

"We can leave this place soon!" She turns around and smiles at the older man, not seeing the older woman's face.

"That's good." He gives her a light smile.

Coming back, I stared at the dried-up blood my fingers touched.

"What a bitch."

"Who is a bitch?" Henry showed up behind me, and I looked at him startled before chuckling.

"Your sister is a bitch. Your original sister, the original bitch." I peered up at him to see his reaction, but there was none.

"And why is that?" He smiled lightly.

"Just my overall assessment of her. She and your parents2 should be near."

He went silent.

In this vision, I definitely saw the original Henrietta, as well as the parents I had met in the little city world. Only that a few years had gone by, and she is now a fully grown woman, still looking like shit, and still had these overly beautiful features that were wasted on her.

"Where?" Henry eventually drawled out, not looking so cool anymore.

"Let me ask you a question before that." I stood up and walked to him, hating that he was taller than me.

"If I wanted to kill your sister, what would you do?" I saw pain flitting across his eyes and snorted.

"Oh, Henry." Contrary to me, she really wanted to kill him, and he is still not resolute enough. But I get it; I remember the crazy hope and anticipation I felt when Lauren suddenly came to visit me in prison.

Well, I wanted to end him too, but he is still here, isn't he? If I really meant it, I would have not beaten him, but rather just stabbed him.

Now, I have seen her set her younger counterpart up. I can not interpret my vision in any other way. I call her promises of absorbing power total BULLSHIT.

She wanted to wait until little Kenny3 gets a vision about being in danger and kills her first. It is absolutely far-fetched to think he could and would really do so, but she seemed at the end of her wits.

Apparently she had tried to kill the little girl before, but being a clever one and with the ability to survive on the streets, she had survived each time, even becoming suspicious of the voice she heard.

The question was, why? Why would it help her if her counterpart died, even if she was not the one who killed it herself?

Hah, Henrietta, you really are a bitch. Not even going easy on another, younger version of yourself.

"Henry. I don't plan to kill her for now; don't worry. But, I don't want you to come and stand between me and her if we get confrontational. Cause if you do that, I won't play nice anymore. Got it?"

"Got it." Henry smiled slightly.

"I am still your dog, aren't I?"

I walked back to the spot with the dried-up blood.

I touched it and flipped the coin.

Palm, golden, incorrect past of the little girl; past of our Henrietta.

The two old people who sat on the ground whispered to each other, while the tall girl in her mid-twenties sat on the other side of the room.

She was resting her head against the legs she had pulled to her.

Finally, her head snapped up, making her parents flinch.

"What happened??!!" She jumps up and continues to roam around the room.

"What? And, are you injured?"

"What do you mean?"

"No, wait!"

"I don't know how he knew!"

"No! Please listen to me! YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO ME!"

"DON'T GO!"

 "DON'T LEAVE YOUR WORLD!"

"DAMN!" The tall girl kicks the destroyed furniture on the floor, burrowing her face in her hands.

"Henrietta." Her father said into the silence.

"It's over. Let's go out and look at the sky one last time. We can't live like this."

"NO! I will find another; it doesn't matter; I CAN BRING US OUT!" She suddenly snaps before again controlling the door slit that was stuffed with fabric.

"We will get out. We only need one of them to die."

The brightly lit, dilapidated room looks like a prison with two convicts and one guard.
