Global Game: Developing a Knight Clan-Chapter 186 - 158: The Dragon Species Gather, the Audience Begins
"The Silver Dragon Lambert Family certainly dropped quite the bombshell."
"But even if you know something like this might be fake, you still have to come see it for yourself. Otherwise, it would be us Dragon Species who are in the wrong."
In the domain of the Demon Beast Mountain Range, within the Outer Mountain area of the Wilderness.
A large crowd of Sub-dragons and Dragon Descendants had already gathered.
Among them, the first to arrive was the Black Dragon from the Beastman Empire.
As the Beastman Empire’s only Saint Tier Dragon Species, the Sub-dragon Species Black Dragon held an extremely high status, almost on par with the ’Behemoth’ giants of the Royal Family.
In the Beastman Empire, the Behemoth were held in the highest esteem.
Nearly all of its Saint Tier individuals came from the Behemoth Royal Family.
Of course, there were exceptions. Besides the Behemoth Royal Family, the Beastman Empire also had three great clans known as Divine Descendant Clans, which also had Saint Tier members.
And aside from the Behemoth Royal Family and the three Divine Descendant Clans, the Beastman Empire had one and only one Saint Tier Sub-dragon.
This was Black Dragon Teo, who also commanded four High Tier Sub-dragons and over a dozen direct bloodline descendants.
Sub-dragons were one thing, but the Beastman Empire naturally had its Dragon Nobles as well.
However, compared to the Human Race, the Beastman Empire had far fewer Dragon Nobles—only two Beastman Dragon Descendant Tribes of relatively average strength.
One was the Dragon Descendant Dog-headed Tribe.
The other was the Dragon Owl Clan.
At this moment, representatives from these Dragon Descendant Beastman Tribes were also present.
And they had come following the Saint Tier Black Dragon Teo.
It was Black Dragon Teo who had spoken those earlier words.
Across from Black Dragon Teo was a colossal Sea Beast that resembled a plesiosaur.
It was a Sea Beast Snake Dragon of the Sub-dragon Species, and also a Saint Tier existence.
Snake Dragon Melany looked at the Black Dragon, her expression nonchalant.
"I imagine you’ve seen the recording of the prince of the Dragon Race, Teo."
"Under these circumstances, do you still think the Human Dragon Descendants are trying to deceive us?"
"Take a good look around, Your Excellency. Look how many Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants have come. If this turns out to be false, the human Lambert Family will pay an immense price. At the very least, they will no longer have a place in the Human Empire."
"Teo, do you think the Human Race is stupid?"
"So, I suggest Your Excellency refrain from making hasty judgments and speaking recklessly. Otherwise... heh heh..."
The Snake Dragon looked at the Black Dragon indifferently, a deep, hidden disdain in her eyes.
’Any Dragon Species with a bit of power on the continent knows who’s who. In the Snake Dragon’s eyes, Black Dragon Teo was simply a disgrace to the Dragon Species.’
’Is the Beastman Empire really a faction a noble Dragon Species should join?’
’Filthy, ignorant, and barbaric.’
’The Beastmen were arguably the most disliked Race on the entire continent.’
’To many Dragon Species, even with the Dragon Race gone, the one faction they should never join was the Beastman Empire. It was an insult to their clean, noble, wise, and sacred identity as Dragon Species.’
Black Dragon Teo seemed not to notice the Snake Dragon’s disdain.
He feigned surprise, then glanced around and fell into contemplation.
There really were a lot of draconic beings who had come this time.
From the Beastman Empire came the Saint Tier Black Dragon Teo, followed by over ten High Tier Dragon Descendant Beastmen.
From the Human Empire, all five great Dragon Descendant Clans had arrived!
Two of their Saint Tier members had come as well.
One was the Saint Tier Silver Dragon Camilla.
The other was a Saint Tier Thunder Dragon Race Human.
The two Saint Tier individuals were situated on another side of the Demon Beast Mountain Range’s Outer Mountain Peak.
Meanwhile, surrounding them were over thirty High Tier members from the five great families, including seven who were at Tier Nine Peak.
As for the Sea Race, quite a few had arrived as well.
In fact, they could be considered the most powerful group of Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants present.
The ocean was vast, and the Sea Race had five great Empires.
Among these five Empires, there were a total of fourteen Dragon Descendant Clans.
Additionally, the Sea Beasts formed their own system.
Thus, the number of Saint Tier Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants who came from the entire Sea Race was a staggering eleven.
However, the situation with the Sea Race was far more complicated than that of the continental races.
The humanoid groups of the Sea Race lacked a unified structure; the five great Sea Race Empires even frequently attacked one another.
Consequently, this indirectly led to more hatred and animosity among the Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants under the five great Sea Race Empires.
Just as now, the Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants from the five great Sea Race Empires each occupied a different spot on the Outer Mountain Peak, not even bothering to communicate with one another.
However, of the Saint Tiers from the five great Sea Race Empires, only one Saint Tier Sea Race Dragon Descendant had come from each empire this time.
The most numerous group from the Sea Race present were the Sub-dragon Species Sea Beasts.
The Sea Beast collective was rather unique.
They had a system similar to that of the Demon Beast Mountain Range, having established their own power base in the deep-sea trenches.
Thus, like the Snake Dragon, five other giant Sub-dragon Species Sea Beasts were currently gathered around her, communicating.
At present, of all the Saint Tier beings from across the Oakland Continent arriving one after another at the Outer Mountain of the Demon Beast Mountain Range, only the Elf Race had yet to appear.
But even so, the number of Saint Tier individuals gathered at the Outer Mountain of the Demon Beast Mountain Range had already reached fourteen.
Fourteen Saint Tier beings was a considerable number.
And that wasn’t even counting the Saint Tier Sub-dragons who hadn’t come for various reasons.
"Lady Melany, I think you’re right."
"Right now, aside from the Elf Race, I think pretty much every Saint Tier Dragon Species in the world who should and could come has arrived."
"It seems there are many of our kin who are willing to believe in the Dragon Race’s return! Everyone has been waiting for far too long. Never mind that the humans here have a recording device to prove the Dragon Race’s return; even without it, with just a rumor, I imagine many of our kin would still have come."
Black Dragon Teo’s expression was somewhat complicated.
After all, although Black Dragon Teo was also a Sub-dragon Species, he was not even as old as Earth Dragon Amos.
The Dragon Race had just disappeared when he was born. So, in a sense, it wasn’t that he wanted to join the Beastman Empire.
It was just that his birthplace was in the Beastman Empire, and he had been valued and nurtured by the Beast God.
So, he had no choice and naturally stood on the side of the Beastmen.
Although Black Dragon Teo felt some kinship with the Dragon Race, he didn’t long for them as much as the most ancient Sub-dragons like the Snake Dragon did.
The Snake Dragon glanced at the Black Dragon, her disdain softening slightly, then said with a complicated tone:
"As a new Sub-dragon born in the lost era of our Dragon Species, Black Dragon Teo, you simply don’t understand the sense of identity we ancient Sub-dragons have with the Dragon Race."
"If the Dragon Race of Dragon Island hadn’t vanished, we could have completely removed ourselves from the conflicts of the continent and the sea, watching everything with cold detachment, if we so wished."
"But in this day and age, can we?"
"The answer is no. In fact, if we don’t handle the political situations with the other races carefully, we could die at any moment."
"We can’t even rest in peace after death. The flesh, Dragon Bones, and even Dragon Cores of a Dragon Species—all of these are rare treasures to the other races."
"Who would have dared commit such blasphemy back when Dragon Island still existed?"
"So, Teo, you really don’t understand how significant the existence of the Dragon Race is to us."
"Thus, just as you see here, even if the Human Dragon Descendants hadn’t produced the recording of that prince, I believe a great number of our kin would still have come."
The Black Dragon looked at the Snake Dragon, his expression turning inexplicably silent.
’He, the Black Dragon, of course knew the records from when the Dragon Race still existed. He could even imagine how intensely the Sub-dragons yearned for their return.’
’But what did that have to do with him?’
Yes. Black Dragon Teo held some resentment towards the Dragon Race.
From the moment he was born, he had never received the protection of the Dragon Race.
He was even an orphan.
He didn’t know who his mother was, nor his father.
If the Beast God hadn’t discovered him as a youth and taken him in to be raised, he might have already been flayed and had his tendons pulled out by some Beastman.
His fate was pitiable, to say the least.
Of course, Black Dragon Teo couldn’t deny that if he didn’t have the Bloodline of the Dragon Race, the Beast God might not have protected him.
Indirectly, he had actually received the Dragon Race’s blessing.
But deep down, his feelings toward the Dragon Race were still very conflicted.
’I hope the Dragon Race really has returned, or is about to. If so, I’ll have the chance to go to Dragon Island and demand an explanation from my no-good Dragon Mother or Father Dragon, to ask what reason they had to abandon their own unborn child.’
The Black Dragon silently gazed at his surroundings, not engaging in any further Spiritual communication with the Snake Dragon for a while.
Meanwhile, the surrounding Saint Tier Dragon Species were more or less all conversing with each other via telepathy.
At the same time, the gazes of these Saint Tier Dragon Species were all fixed on the depths of the Demon Beast Mountain Range.
As for the group of High Tier Magical Beasts responsible for receiving these Saint Tier Dragon Species, they were all utterly silent, terrified that one wrong move would offend these terrifying beings and get them swallowed whole.
However, there was an exception: Red Dragon Crimson, who was responsible for receiving these Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants in the Outer Mountain. They were currently positioned with Silver Dragon Camilla.
Crimson received a great deal of attention.
Many Dragon Species even proactively asked Crimson about the so-called prince of the Dragon Race.
Unfortunately, to these questions, Crimson had only one reply: "The time is not yet right."
This was truly driving the crowd of Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants mad.
Some of the Saint Tier Dragon Species even showed looks of anger.
But their anger flared for a moment and then vanished.
After all, this matter was too important. Who would dare cause trouble for Crimson at a time like this?
A contest of patience?
It had to be said, Dragon Species were generally patient creatures.
Being long-lived species, since Crimson wouldn’t speak, they stopped asking and courting rejection, quietly waiting for the day they would be summoned by the so-called prince of the Dragon Race.
And so, on the final day of this wait.
The Dragon Species of the Elf Race actually arrived.
High in the sky, all four of the Elf Race’s Saint Tier Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants had come, with over thirty High Tier Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants behind them.
Seeing the arrival of the Elf Race’s Dragon Species,
many of the Dragon Species present revealed inscrutable expressions.
Some of the Sea Race Dragon Species even started making snide remarks.
"Heh, I thought these mongrels from the Elf Race wouldn’t show up."
"Look at them, the noble Elves, the Overlords of the ancient era. What an ego, arriving on the very last day. What are they trying to do? Are they still trying to indirectly express their dissatisfaction with the Dragon Race of Dragon Island?"
"Tsk tsk, forget the Elf Race mongrels. That Green Dragon is rather interesting, though, actually joining the Elf Empire."
"I’m quite curious what kind of trouble these guys will stir up when they meet the prince of the Dragon Race."
"Trouble? They dare? They couldn’t do anything in the ancient era, and they certainly can’t do anything now. They’re just a ridiculous Race that fancies itself noble. Dragon Island couldn’t be bothered with them before, and now that they no longer have the protection of Deities, the prince of the Dragon Race will surely not even spare them a glance."
"Just a bunch of noisy little insects."
"..."
Various Dragon Species from the different races were busy mocking and discussing the newly arrived Elven Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants.
But the Elven Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants seemed completely oblivious, hovering in the sky and minding their own business.
They did not choose to land on the Outer Mountain Peak, nor did they have any intention of communicating with the other Dragon Species. Instead, they chose to wait in cold indifference.
And so, when a certain moment finally arrived,
Red Dragon Crimson suddenly seemed to receive some news and shot into the sky.
At the same time, they called out in a loud, indifferent voice:
"The time has come!"
"Everyone, in the name of the Dragon Race, follow me to an audience with the prince!"
Crimson’s words were few and brief.
But that did not dampen the enthusiasm of the many Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants.
In an instant, all the Dragon Species roared and moved as one.
Whether flying in the sky or running on the ground, the entire group of Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants, under Crimson’s lead, finally began heading towards the depths of the Demon Beast Mountain Range.
Meanwhile, high in the sky from various directions, and with the aid of different observation tools, numerous Strong Persons from all the races across the Oakland Continent were watching the events unfold.
