Harem Incubus System: I Broke Supernatural Beauties With Earthly Kinks-Chapter 35: Something To Fight For
"Hell hounds... The signature beasts of those creatures. Does that mean that the Infernal Demons have arrived here on earth?"
The presence of the hell hounds, especially at her academy was troubling, and now that it had come to this, there was only one thing left for her to do.
..
A few hours after the exams, Mason dragged himself up the streets and back home with heavy steps. The spirit Casters examination weakened him, and the fight with the supernatural had drained whatever strength he had left.
Just moments ago, all the participants of the spirit casters exams were sent home after the untimely invasion of those mysterious beasts, bringing the examinations to a stop.
When he reached his door, he let out a long sigh, then pushed it open, and stepped inside. He walked straight into his room and dropped his bag to the floor, then closed the door behind him, and finally allowed his shoulders to relax.
For the first time all day, he felt like he could actually relax.
"What a day, and to think it’d end with not finishing the exams, so defying mom was for what purpose exactly?"
KNOCK KNOCK
"Mason?" His mother called out to him from the other side of the door, and Mason sprang to his feet almost immediately.
’Shit!’ 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Mom?" He knew he was screwed, after all he hadn’t seen eye to eye with his mom after the disagreement they had days ago. Not to mention that he was terrified of seeing her for one reason only.
The Incubus Bloodline.
Now that he had level up to the point that even his charisma has started to have an effect on the supernatural, there was no telling what it could do to his mother. After all it was just like the system said, out of all races, humans were easily submissive to the demon’s king authority all thanks to their weak physiology.
"There’s a letter for you, I’ll leave it by the door, dinner will be ready in ten minutes."
The faint sound of her feet descending the stairs was drowned out by the momentary silence. And Mason heaved a sigh, thankfully, she was still upset with him.
"It seems the Incubus Bloodline has it’s ups and downs, damn it, I hope it won’t encourage shits like incest or any condescending crap like that."
He opened his door and peeked out to be sure his mother had gone, then he immediately snatched the letter from the floor and shut the door behind him.
"Hm?" The letter was addressed to him from his highschool in the lower faction. He pulled out the letter, and his eyes spread wide as he read it.
[To Mason Harris:
"Candidate Mason Harris, you have been successfully evaluated and we are pleased to inform you that you have successfully passed the Spirit Caster’s exams with a score of 50/100."
Mason chuckled as he read the first line of the letter. An evaluation right out of the bat even without partaking in the second stage?
"Since I’m being evaluated, that means they are judging me based off my performance in the first stage. If that’s the case, performance is the crucial criteria, so why 50?"
A fifty out of a hundred? Despite the circumstances, he knew there were higher forces behind his score, and he could already guess who. The Spirit Caster’s exam, the grading, even the challenges were decided in a joint meeting by the professors and management of the Spirits casters academy.
The common link between them was that they were all nobles. So if they had it their way, they could easily disqualify him from the judgement stage. But it was clear there were some other forces fighting to back him up.
He picked up the letter and continued reading it.
"As such, you have successfully qualified for a spot in the prestigious academy of the Spirit Caster’s as a student of Class 1D. Your enrollment is immediate, and you are expected to be present at the introduction ceremony tomorrow."
"What!?" He squeezed the paper tightly as he read the summon to the spirits caster academy. "Tomorrow!?"
It was too sudden, he hadn’t even gotten a chance to catch his breath, and now he has to be present at the academy the next day.
"What am I going to tell mom..." He knew eventually he was going to have to tell her, but he already planned to do so after the second stage, but not like this."
"Mason, dinner’s ready!" He heard his mom’s voice from all the way downstairs, and honestly, her timing couldn’t be any worse.
It left him in deep thoughts. How was he going to tell her without ending up with the possibility of her disowning him? And more importantly, how was he going to face her knowing the truth behind his dad, her husband.
The truth that he wasn’t just a demon that grew stronger by sleeping with woman, he was the king of an ancient, powerful race of demons.
..
Minutes later, Mason sat at the small dining table, pushing his fork lightly through the food. And his mother sat across from him, eating slowly, her eyes flicking up to him with an expressionless gaze every passing second.
Out of fear, Mason utilized the Spirit concealment skill to reduce the effects of his bloodline, and for the time being, it seemed like it was working.
The only sounds in the room were the soft clinks of cutlery and the distant hum of the fridge. Neither of them spoke. The silence between them stretched, long and thin, settling between them like an invisible wall.
"So Mason." His mother said, finally breaking the silence as she took a bite out of the turkey on her fork. "How did your day go?"
Her eyes settled on him, watching him carefully like they were scanning for any hesitation in his reply.
For a while, Mason said nothing, and that was because he hardly lied to his mother about matters that were serious. Sure, he could lie about blowing off his monthly allowance on prazzers, but that was something his mom could easily overlook after knocking out a teeth or two, but this?
This was different.
It went against her beliefs, her beliefs that becoming a spirit caster was what took her husband — his father away from him.
He set down his fork and took a deep breath, then he said. "I took the Spirit Caster’s entrance Exams."
