Chapter 103: A Slow Wave Of Change

,

"It’s like you’ve heard so far, Kitten. You’re not a human." Eiravyn’s draped with clear emphasis as he said this words, his red eyes set only on his mate.

"Explain." said Serena. Eiravyn was not the type to bluff about anything and if he said she wasn’t human, she needed to understand his reasoning to this.

"While in the human realm..." Eiravyn began to explain patiently and carefully to not further give his mate more fright after she just received one big news, that would probably shook her world from this moment and forever. That her whole life had been a lie.

Eiravyn shared his take on their first encounter, of how she had felt the spark of the bond which no normal human would not have felt. Then he went on to tell her about what had happened today at the third floor. How she had glowed like a god of anger and even went as far as to almost end their mate bond. And how he doubted she had any illness, because she wasn’t human to begin with.

She stared at Eiravyn like she had just heard the most ridiculous story ever. To say that she believed everything he had said was close to saying her garndparents haven’t been sincere to her, which she doubted.

"That can’t be right. I was with the servants and they didn’t notice anything strange in me, Eiravyn." She had felt a sudden rush then, but it was mainly because she was mad. So when Eiravyn told her that she almost broke their bond, she couldn’t believe it. How can a average human do that? She wondered.

Eiravyn looked at her for a moment, "Can you describe how you felt during that time. Everything, your emotions, and body reaction?"

Serena gave it a thought, then she didn’t think about it as anything strange, because it was her first time feeling something so strong and her first time getting mad at someone. But now that she was with Eiravyn, with him questioning her, she realized at that time that she wanted to destroy everything around her, most especially Eiravyn. And this fact stunned her.

She looked up at Eiravyn, "At that time, it was almost like the world and everything was below me. I felt superior, I felt a strange feeling inside me, it was burning and I wanted to destroy everything. And then I heard your voice in my head," Serena sounded like she was deep in thought like she was replaying her everything that happened this afternoon over in her head to not miss a single detail. Before she paused.

Now that she thought about it. Why would Eiravyn’s voice suddenly speak through her in her head. Her eyes turned wide in realization, forcing her to look over at Eiravyn. Was she really like them?

Eiravyn’s eyes softened at her expression. "Your grandparents have a lot of explanations to do, Kitten." He said, before adding. "When they come here."

This time Serena didn’t question his thinking and instead gave a little nod. Just a while ago, she had thought she was a human and again just a while ago, it turned out that everything in her life might have been a joke.

She felt Eiravyn reach out to hold her hands, when his hands tightened on her small ones, she turned to look at his face, then she saw the look of understanding and reassurance in his red eyes. It felt like he was telling her that there’s nothing to be scared of that he was here with her, to guide and protect her. And that made Serena felt safe.

However, the High Priest who had been staring at this beautiful scene, suddenly started saying, his voice reverberated around the cabin, as if he was not in the room he and only his body was there with them.

"A maiden with a clean spirit, ’bearing the mark of the ancients, bound to the vampire king by fate, she shall wield the power to shatter chains and unleash his true might..." The High Priest suddenly paused his eyes had turned pale, and a white light emitted from his once gold eyes, making it look like he was having a vision, his head was tilted upward.

When the High Priest started talking, Serena was quite taking with Eiravyn, and didn’t notice this strange mood in the room, but when she turned her eyes to look at the High Priest, she felt a cold eerie chill running down her spine, despite the warmth from the fire crackling in the corner of the room and Eiravyn’s warmth. The whole place was suddenly my cold.

As it felt like each word the man was saying was aimed at her, she felt a urge to close her eyes and suddenly did. When she closed her eyes. A primal scream tore out from the back of her mind, barely audible but Eiravyn heard her.

Eiravyn turned to look at his mate startled, her eyes were still close and so was the High Priest. He glanced at her worry evident in his voice, as he said.

"Kitten, what’s the matter?" He asked, but Serena couldn’t respond, she heard his voice but when she opened her mouth to speak, to respond to his words, it was like she was speaking to herself, like there was a barrier over them that made Eiravyn unable to hear her words.

Serena gasped, her eyes still closed, despite how much she tried to keep them open, someone was pulling her deeper to a void, and she struggled to stay up.

When she closed her eyes earlier, the first thing she noticed was the High Priest, his face was so close to hers, that she couldn’t stop the scream that tired out. Unfortunately, it felt like she was stucked in her own subconsciously and only Eiravyn could hear because of the mate bond.

The High Priest face had been so scary, as it was so close to her face, that she could feel his breath on the side of her right cheek. He still had that void, and light in his eyes and it had frightened her.
