Hogwarts: Bloodline Legend-Chapter 596 - 168: The Boy Who Survived Disaster! (Part 6)
His sales techniques are way too ahead of their time.
Quite a bit of a Muggle vibe.
"Uh..."
Just as Mr. Granger was still hesitating.
"What? A new maintenance package? And on sale, too? Me! I'll take one set!" Hagrid bounced up from the bench at once, his voice extremely excited.
He really has money to burn.
But this kind of behavior—
"..."
Left Ian quite speechless.
Even the Granger couple, who knew nothing about the Wizarding World, felt something was off.
"He must still be keeping his magic wand."
Hermione muttered very quietly next to Ian.
Honestly, Hagrid really can't act, nor does he know how to keep secrets. Even a kid can see through his so-called "perfectly concealed" secrets. It's honestly a little embarrassing.
"Alrighty then!"
Probably only Old Ollivander truly knows how to play dumb. He doesn't even ask questions, just turns around and brings out a huge pile of maintenance kits, promoting and pitching each one to Hagrid.
...
What's the first thing a little kid wants to buy when they enter the Wizarding World?
For Harry Potter, maybe it's a magic wand. For Tom Riddle, a powerful magic wand. But for Hermione Granger, she's more inclined towards magic books.
Only because Ian was her guide did she prioritize buying a magic wand first. But when Ian brought her to Li Hen Bookstore, this little witch looked even more excited than she was in the Magic Wand Shop.
Li Hen Bookstore is the biggest bookstore in Diagon Alley, but unfortunately, it's not Ian's property so he doesn't get that landlord discount. Inside its huge premises, books of all sorts line the shelves.
Of course.
Apart from the annual textbook rush and those meaningless bestsellers, most of the books here probably won't sell for decades.
Especially those on the very back shelves. According to the elderly shopkeeper, those books were already there when her mother took over the store many decades ago.
For real.
Ian rummaged around with a treasure hunter's spirit, only to find they were all history books that hadn't been updated in years—even their stories are all ancient history by now.
Compared to that,
The Prophet Daily, those tabloid news stories, are actually the "history" most wizards prefer. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"This one! This one! And this one!"
She practically wanted to move the entire bookstore into her house. Naturally, the Granger couple, knowing their daughter well, helped filter through her book selections.
"I want to buy this year's course books, too."
Standing in front of the first row of shelves, Ian pulled out the second-year book list. Other than the basic "Standard Spell: Level 2," there were quite a few new textbooks this year.
"Magic History: Middle Ages"
"Defense Against the Dark Arts: In-Depth Analysis"
"Magic Potions and Mixing Fundamentals·Advanced"
"Where to Find Magical Creatures: New Discoveries"
"Magic History: Middle Ages"
...
These were all the new textbooks required this year. And besides, Ian felt like he'd been hit by a [Plot Curse] because "Lockhart" the professor had randomly added a bunch of completely pointless required readings to the book list.
"Magic Dumbledore"
"Traveling with Dumbledore"
...
Six or seven books Ian had never even heard of— all stuff "Lockhart" wrote over the past year. It's honestly hard to believe these could be counted as course materials.
After some serious shopping,
Ian bought all his required books. And when he walked over to Hermione, this knowledge-thirsty little witch had already picked out over sixty books unrelated to the curriculum.
The Granger couple didn't stop her, after all, elite education always means extra studying, and they didn't have financial pressure anyway—they could swap their Muggle money for Wizarding World currency at the little wizard's rate.
"You should get both 'Important Magical Progress of the Last Ten Centuries' and 'Geniuses of the Nineteenth Century,' especially since 'Geniuses of the Nineteenth Century' just got an update this year."
"My name's even included in it now! I really think THIS is what Hogwarts should be calling a textbook." Ian couldn't help but recommend some books for Hermione.
What can I say?
Highly specialized books are a rare find in a store like this—mostly you'll only get the basic learning stuff, while all the really advanced knowledge either stays in the hands of major families or lurks in Knockturn Alley.
"I recommend you pick up 'Hogwarts: A School History' too. Not for any special reason, just for the vibe… Hey, drop that completely pointless book!"
Ian had wanted to steer Hermione back toward the classics; unfortunately, he caught her ignoring "Hogwarts: A School History" and picking up a copy of "Human Weakness: Prince's Secret" instead.
He admits it.
He was a little mentally broken.
"I see this one is also by Gilderoy Lockhart, right? Our book list is filled with his stuff." Hermione looked curiously at the book Ian had snatched away from her.
"Was this written for you?"
Not just throwing shade, but going for the throat too.
"..."
Ian was beyond exasperated.
"Just a bunch of slander, persecution, and... utter nonsense!" Ian shoved "Human Weakness: Prince's Secret" back on the shelf, thrusting "Hogwarts: A School History" into Hermione's hands.
