How I Pampered the Tyrant Into Devotion With My Space-Chapter 618: He Was Never This Afraid on the Battlefield
The midwife smiled as she placed the child in front of Pei Shu’er, speaking auspicious words.
"Congratulations, Princess Consort. It’s a boy."
Pei Shu’er looked at the small bundle; this was the child she had fought so hard to give birth to.
This child had taken root and grown in her body, bit by bit, into what it was now.
Her head rested against her tiny monkey, but the little one just made noises, demanding milk.
Pei Shu’er’s face was a picture of indulgent smile, and she hurriedly managed to get the child to nurse.
At this moment, after hearing the sound from outside, Tang Zan finally relaxed his tightly clenched fist.
He stopped Yinxing who was leaving: "How is the Princess Consort?"
The whole night, basin after basin of bloody water was carried out, and each maid who emerged was stopped by Tang Zan, who asked the same question.
"How is the Princess Consort?"
Yinxing saw that Tang Zan, after just one night, already had stubble on his chin and bloodshot eyes, and when he asked this, his lips quivered.
Yinxing’s eyes filled with amusement; Old Madam Tang’s questions were first about the child’s condition, and only then about Pei Shu’er.
But their War King always asked only one thing: How is Pei Shu’er.
That is to say, he was not actually concerned about the child’s status; he was more worried about Pei Shu’er’s health.
Yinxing smiled and said: "The Princess Consort is well, but Prince should not go in now; the midwife is stitching up the Princess Consort’s wound and cleaning up."
Tang Zan nodded, finally able to put down his heart that had been hanging in the air.
He had led army battles for many years, having encountered situations far more perilous than this.
But nothing frightened him more than Pei Shu’er’s childbirth.
If he could have, he would not have wanted Pei Shu’er to go through childbirth at all.
All night, outside, he could not hear even a sound from Pei Shu’er, afraid that something might have happened to her.
As Yinxing was about to leave, she was again stopped by Old Madam Tang who asked a question.
"Did Pei Shu’er have a boy or a girl?"
Yinxing smiled: "It’s a boy."
Then Yinxing saw Old Madam Tang’s face light up with a very content expression; at that moment, Yinxing truly felt disappointed in Old Madam Tang.
Fortunately, Pei Shu’er had not invested much emotion into Old Madam Tang, otherwise Pei Shu’er would have been sad.
Pei Shu’er had given birth to a son, the people at Prince Zhan Mansion were overwhelmed with joy, all crowding around the child. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Old Madam Tang was very pleased too, having waited many years, she finally saw Tang Zan having an heir before her eyes closed.
This is good, this is good indeed.
Tang Zan did not even glance at the child and instead walked straight toward Pei Shu’er.
The midwife cheerfully said: "War King, congratulations, it’s a boy."
Then she added: "But, the air is thick with blood here, fearing it might clash with you."
The implication was for Tang Zan to quickly leave.
Tang Zan shook his head and refused.
Pei Shu’er had already been moved to another bed.
Shen Wanqing and Liu Xu both stood around Pei Shu’er’s bed, repeatedly asking her if she felt uncomfortable anywhere or needed anything.
Tang Zan held Pei Shu’er’s hand, kissed her hand’s back, his eyes red, speaking with a hoarse, grating voice.
His hand still trembled.
"Princess Consort, you’ve worked hard."
Pei Shu’er’s lips curled into a smile, so tired she couldn’t lift a finger, she nodded slightly.
The midwife brought over a bowl of brown sugar eggs for Pei Shu’er to drink.
Pei Shu’er was indeed hungry, so she didn’t fuss and drank it directly.
After she finished eating, she handed over a pre-prepared menu to Yinxing for Yinxing to pass to the cook.
Liu Xu saw the menu and said immediately: "Eating like this may lead to no milk."
Pei Shu’er patted Liu Xu’s hand: "It’s okay, eating like this is most scientific and good for me."
Liu Xu nodded in agreement with Pei Shu’er’s words.
Old Madam Tang also glanced at the menu, she said nothing but furrowed her brows.
The child was also placed in Pei Shu’er’s arms, now tenderly pink, still looking like a wrinkled little monkey.
As Pei Shu’er was about to hold him, it seemed he smelled his mother and, with difficulty, opened a slit in his tightly closed eyes to glance at Pei Shu’er.
He then opened his mouth wide, wailing for milk.
Pei Shu’er fed the child, and once he was full, he quickly fell asleep.
Pei Shu’er, too, tired, slept with the child.
When she woke up, Pei Shu’er found Tang Zan still standing by the bed looking at her, her mouth naturally curled into a smile.
"Aren’t you tired? From yesterday until now, it’s already evening, and Tang Zan hasn’t closed his eyes once."
Tang Zan shook his head: "I can’t sleep now; my mind is filled with the image of your pale face."
Pei Shu’er stretched her hand towards Tang Zan, and Tang Zan held Pei Shu’er’s hand, bringing it to his cheek.
"What’s wrong?"
Pei Shu’er smiled gently, her eyes full of tenderness.
"See, I’m fine, aren’t I?"
Then pointed towards another bed in the room: "Why don’t you sleep there."
Tang Zan nodded and obediently lay down on the other bed.
Now, every night Pei Shu’er made the wet nurse set several alarms, ringing every three hours, for diaper changes which the wet nurse would handle.
Pei Shu’er prepared fabric for her son, it’s the kind of very soft modern fabric, and mostly she dressed the child in one piece outfits to make diaper changes easier.
Besides, she took out the diapers she had stocked in her space.
She’d seen cloth diapers, poor quality, and using them continuously might cause discomfort to the baby’s bottom.
Now her son is her dearest treasure, she can’t bear to let the child suffer any discomfort.
So, she decided to use diapers.
The wet nurse looked puzzled: "These things..."
Pei Shu’er smiled: "These diapers, I made myself when I was pregnant. Feel them, aren’t they very soft? They are absorbent and disposable; just toss them out after use."
The wet nurse nodded repeatedly, filled with admiration.
"Oh, our Princess Consort is so clever. Our child previously wore cloth diapers; they needed constant washing. Those things didn’t absorb water, left the bum damp, and even resulted in rashes later."
Pei Shu’er remained calm, not showing any guilt for lying.
After all, she had the tools to make materials and knew how to, so making them was only a matter of time.
Now it’s just a lack of energy; she’ll arrange people to handle it when the time comes.
At the same time, Pei Shu’er also disclosed the new sanitary pads.
"This is also something I made this time; I found the waterproof performance to be excellent. The two materials are similar; you can try it."
The wet nurse paused, blushing, and accepted it.
A newborn is the hardest to care for; within a maximum of three hours, a diaper change is required.
After learning how to change diapers, the wet nurse felt much more relaxed.
After all, caring for the child before was not just about changing diapers but also changing clothes.
Over time, the wet nurse was very pleased, continuously praising Pei Shu’er’s ingenuity for developing such remarkable things.
Pei Shu’er couldn’t reveal the truth, so she simply accepted the praise with composure.
