How I Tamed My Wolfish Husband Back in 80s-Chapter 434 - 436: Baby’s Premonition_1
Chapter 434: Chapter 436: Baby’s Premonition_1
Because the next day she was going to meet with Qin Jin’s clients.
The following day, Li Qiao specifically took her child to the large courtyard to practice the tea ceremony, planning to show off her elegance in front of the clients tomorrow.
Once she made sure everything was perfect, she prepared to make a trip to the library to familiarize herself with the customs and culture of the clients’ country from books, based on what she had learned from the conversation the day before, to facilitate better communication.
She intended to have Old Mrs. Qin take care of the baby for a while when she got back to the small courtyard, but Old Mrs. Qin was napping. The elderly lady didn’t sleep much to begin with, and Li Qiao didn’t have the heart to disturb her; after some consideration, she decided to take the child to the school.
After dressing the child in warm clothes, she placed him in the stroller and pushed him along.
There were quite a few students in the school who hadn’t gone home for the holiday, some of whom recognized Li Qiao and took the initiative to come up and greet her, "Li, is this your child? May I have a look?"
"Of course, you may," Li Qiao said generously, lifting the cover of the stroller to reveal the child inside.
"So beautiful, has skin like you, looks like your partner, right?"
Li Qiao, "When he smiles, he does resemble me a bit." The mystery of blood relation is just that, parents can always find traits similar to their own in their children.
"What’s your name?"
Qin Baby was lying down at the time but, upon hearing the question, he quickly rolled over and propped himself up to sit, pointing at the words next to the stroller.
The other person looked and read out loud, "Qin Yunye, that’s a nice name. You’re pretty smart too, for such a little one to understand what adults are saying."
Qin Baby looked down, rolling his eyes upward.
From the classmate’s perspective, it was quite clear he was rolling his eyes at her. She suddenly realized, she had called him a little thing, which displeased him, and she covered her mouth with a smile, "Aunty shouldn’t have said that, don’t mind me."
"Humph!" Qin Baby didn’t hide his emotions and reached out to tug on the stroller’s cover.
Li Qiao laughed as well, covering the child properly and saying, "Our baby doesn’t feel like chatting with you."
"So cute, haha... It’s my fault for speaking carelessly. Baby, aunty apologizes to you, can you forgive aunty, please?"
Qin Baby humphed again.
Li Qiao, "We’re going to go now, you take care."
"Eh."
"....."
If someone else wanted to see the baby on the way, Li Qiao refused. Firstly, because it was windy, and secondly, she was worried about making the baby angry again, what if he made a fuss about going home? The mother and child entered the library, where the temperature was warmer.
Li Qiao opened the stroller’s canopy and helped the child take off his coat.
"Mama," Qin Baby said softly, pointing with his small hand.
Li Qiao followed the direction he was pointing and turned her head; near a bookshelf not far away, a young man with a shifty gaze stood next to a girl, stealthily reaching into the bag the girl carried to fumble around. Li Qiao immediately shouted the word "Baby."
People around turned to look at her.
The girl being robbed also noticed and intentionally moved a few steps away from the man beside her.
A librarian who recognized Li Qiao approached and said, "Is this your child? Is he being too noisy? Should I help you watch him for a while?"
"No need, the child isn’t fussing," Li Qiao whispered to the librarian about what she had seen.
By this time, the thief realized he had been discovered and hurriedly prepared to leave.
Li Qiao said, "It’s him."
Without hesitation, the librarian chased after the thief, and seeing this, the thief bolted.
Li Qiao couldn’t be of help, so she praised the child, "You’re amazing, such keen eyesight. Mama didn’t notice, but you did," and the little one even knew to keep his voice down.
The little one smiled, showing off his toothless gums.
Li Qiao continued to push the stroller further inside, found the content she needed, read it thoroughly, then dressed the child and left after mastering it.
On the way out, they encountered the security department escorting the thief, who glared fiercely at Li Qiao.
"Mama, there... hey."
Li Qiao withdrew her gaze, "Hey, Baby, Mama is here. What did you just say? Was there something about feeding?"
"Daddy."
Li Qiao, "Looking for Daddy, eh? It’s not a good time to find him now. How about Mama takes you to see a teacher instead?"
The child sighed, "Hmm."
Li Qiao slightly adjusted the child’s hat, "Why the sigh? It’s not good for kids to sigh."
Qin Baby, "Hmm."
Li Qiao smiled, bought some gifts at the campus store, and then pushed the stroller to Professor Dai’s home.
Professor Dai lived in the staff residential complex and had a private courtyard. The couple was at home and exceptionally enthusiastic upon seeing the child, with Professor Dai stuffing food into the child’s hands. His wife said, "How can such a small child with no teeth eat this? Peanuts can easily get stuck in the throat, and the eldest doesn’t even have the common sense."
Professor Dai, having never cared for a child, felt a little embarrassed and asked Li Qiao, "He should be able to eat solid food now, right?"
Li Qiao, "Yes, he can eat now. He drinks some thin porridge mixed with egg yolk in the morning, or corn mush, and in the evening we cook some rice cereal for him."
The old couple was particularly fond of children, playfully engaging and examining the child.
Around four in the afternoon, Li Qiao wanted to leave.
The child, however, was reluctant, clutching onto Professor Dai’s neck and refusing to let go.
Li Qiao pretended to be stern, "Qin Baby, what’s the matter with you? Are you planning to stay here overnight if you don’t go home?"
Professor Dai, "If you’re busy with something, you can go ahead, we can look after him for you. Is your partner at work? You can come back and pick him up when he finishes his shift."
The wife agreed, "That’s right, Qiaoqiao, you go ahead if you have things to do. We will look after him and make sure he’s well-taken care of."
Li Qiao felt a bit awkward but she really needed to go home and check in with Grandma to prevent the elderly lady from waking up and searching for people in the large courtyard after a long absence in the house. She compromised, "Alright then, Qin Baby, you mustn’t bother anyone here."
The child patted his little chest, as if making a promise, and said, "Hmm."
He amused Professor Dai and his wife.
"This child is really endearing."
"......"
After bidding farewell to the child, Li Qiao left and had just exited the school gate when a figure rushed towards her. She reacted reflexively, kicking and knocking the person down. It was the thief from the library, wasn’t he caught by campus security?
Had he escaped?
And was he looking to take revenge?
Luckily, she hadn’t brought the child with her; otherwise, there would have definitely been trouble.
The thief, seeing Li Qiao was tough to deal with, turned to run away.
Li Qiao seized the moment to chase down and once again knock down and subdue the suspect.
"Let me go if you know what’s good for you, or I’ll make sure to get back at you when I get out!"
Li Qiao was not afraid, her voice cold, "I’ll be waiting." She handed the person over to a nearby police station and used the station’s phone to call the school for someone to testify. She ultimately had the thief locked up.
By that time, the sky had already grown dark.
She ran back home and saw Qin Jin stepping out of the house just as she reached the entrance to the alleyway.
"You’re finally back? Where’s the child?" said Qin Jin.
"At Professor Dai’s home," Li Qiao explained in detail.
Qin Jin, "Could our child be sensing danger in advance?"
Li Qiao felt it seemed likely; whenever Li Jinhua came close to him before, he would cry. During a car ride, when Jiayue encountered child traffickers, he spat at them and wanted to find Qin Jin. When she took him there, they ran into the former factory manager stealing data.
Today, when she was going to take him home with her, he refused.
Was he afraid that following her would distract her?
