I Refused To Be Reincarnated-Chapter 627: Obliteration Now
Chapter 627: Obliteration Now
Adam’s breath hastened with each step the smirking puppet took. This was it: the last plan—the final confrontation. ’It has to work.’
Fist raised and sweat trickling down his tensed cheeks, he waited for the perfect opportunity before he thundered.
"Now!" Dense wisps of mana engulfed his eyes.
The ground rumbled in answer, hundreds of stone hands rising as if the earth itself wanted to restrain the puppet. They gripped his legs, torso, and arms, not leaving a single spot of his ashen skin untouched and shrouding his vision.
The golem’s four cannon arms roared to life in the same second, blinding lights erupting in their dark muzzle depths.
Yet, the rocks groaned, then melted into molten liquid as the puppet stepped forward with a sneer. Green demonic energy swirled around his untouched body. Yet his eyes narrowed into slits, the mocking words catching in his throat.
Because as soon as Adam lowered his fist, the emperor lashed the golem’s five arms with a guttural war cry that melded his guilt, despair and hope to fix his mistakes.
Unlike earlier, the five broadswords whistled with a unique purpose: to eviscerate the puppet. Their giant edges cleaved through the wind, one crashing down like a shooting meteor. Two sliced at the sides, aiming to divide the puppet, while the last two came from below in upward slashes.
But that was only the beginning.
’You won’t dodge this time!’ Adam’s mind rumbled as golden lightning arcs exploded from the cannons’ depth. No matter what, he had to obliterate the puppet—now!
Like an infinite tsunami, mana gushed out of his heart, forcing the arms’ particle acceleration and gravity magic circles into overdrive.
The heat melted the fire-resistant alloy in the blink of an eye as four divine halberds condensed from light magic burst with a deafening roar.
Time slowed down in the puppet’s eyes as an icy shudder ran down his spine. Yet, his owl’s beak twisted in pure wrath as everything clicked together. Something had negated his curse. They had played him—HIM!
NO! He had lost last time because of his mediocre host. Never again, not against that pitiful emperor and a mere brat. The brat. Everything was his fault.
His muscles cracked as his rage shot through the stars. Echoing his emotions, demonic flames swirled around his arms.
Who was he? The third treasure of the demon realm born from a fragment of Andras’ soul, a demon feared for his rage and brutality. Forget about psychological warfare. He only found delight in others’ sufferings. But his true strength? It was his raw might! He couldn’t lose against anyone!
As the halberds sizzled, their elements trying to purify him, and the cold sharpness of the broadswords bit on his skin, he hurled his right leg and left fist in raging uppercuts.
CLANG
With soul-chilling sizzles and a deafening clangor, he knocked the blades upwards, gathering them overhead before an inferno roared.
A green pillar of swirling flames connected the earth and the heavens as the air evaporated. The metals exploded into gray mists, broadswords and arms vaporised into oblivion.
Simultaneously, he swung his right fist at the divine halberds with a grunt.
Another jet erupted, yet his eyes narrowed as the energy didn’t dissolve as expected. Worse, his fist trembled under their radiance, and his bones groaned, threatening to collapse any second.
Gritting his teeth, he stomped his raised leg back down. But before he could thrust his left fist to oppose the halberds, a movement behind the light caught his attention. A follow-up strike? How? All the arms melted away. The golem was nothing more than a shell at this point.
As the question echoed in his mind, Adam pierced through the light, his Chronoscar raised high.
"Drop dead, cockroach!" He roared, defiance burning in his eyes as he swung at the fist.
Reality distorted in the sword’s wake, rift scarring space as the somber edges met the flames.
"RAAAAH!" An agonising scream thundered, his skin melted, yet he pushed with twice the strength as the puppet’s eyes enlarged.
The star patterns on the blade brightened each time it sundered a flame, void gasses wafting like a dark sea. They erased any trace of energy upon contact, weakening the puppet’s defense until he struck the fist with a triumphant smirk.
"DAMN YOU, HUMAN!" The puppet roared as the fiery jet keeping the halberds in check suddenly vanished, exposing him to their hateful radiance.
But he had bought enough time. He sidestepped in catastrophe, his legs almost crumbling under the brutal movement.
WOOSH
A sharp whistle registered in his ears, then a blinding pain seared through his right side.
He snapped his head to the side, only to see his torn right arm and the halberds crash on the ground.
BOOM
A dome of pure light reached for the sky, blasting dust and ashes on the cracking palace walls. Ponds dried, and the beautiful gardens turned into scorched fields.
From the forest several kilometers away, the disciples trembled in horror as they witnessed this vision of the apocalypse. The magical beasts fled without looking back, curling into their lairs like pups, too scared to even yelp.
Finally, the emperor clenched his fists, his eyes sparkling with hope as he slammed his palms on the chair.
"This is the final blow! Dodge brat!" He threw himself out and took refuge behind the armory’s sturdy walls.
Adam scrambled without looking back, soothing light magic enveloping his arms to relieve the agony as the golem shed its torso plates.
Round holes filled with ancient swords, axes, and spears revealed themselves as the metal underneath cracked. And beneath, a veil of vibration assaulted the miniature sun Adam had condensed, forcing the atoms closer until they merged.
BOOM
The nuclear fusion propelled the weapons like laser beams as the golem exploded into a downpour of shrapnel.
"Your efforts won’t pay off, ants!" The puppet shrieked before the glistening weapons as he swung his remaining arm upwards.
A fiery wall crackled to life with the movement.
Demonic flames devoured the weapons and shrapnel like a hellish beast as his eyes darted to find the brat through the splashing liquid. No matter what, he had to obliterate his body and soul. Then kill anyone who knew him. Nothing could remain, not even the distant memory of his existence.
