I was Kidnapped for Revenge by a Ruthless Alpha-Chapter 147: Possessed
***Author’s Note: Sorry readers, I just finished putting most of my room and house together after the move. Burned myself out really bad, with all the work I’ve done the last few weeks. Pictures will be with each new update so you can see my hard work away from the keyboard. Check the comments for my living room***
~ODETTE’S POV~
For a moment the world stopped moving. Time seemed to stand still. This moment among millions frozen.
I saw her standing there. As if she’d never left me. As if we were the only two people in this space.
Yet she felt entirely different almost unrecognizable. Her hair was still the same shade of pink.
But her eyes? They glowed red violet. Like Mammy’s. but they were slitted like a dragon’s or a snake’s. The air around her dripped with malice and smelled like death. She didn’t bring the usual calming and loving feeling she usually did wherever she went. The peace she came with was gone like it never existed and dread replaced it.
"Mother..." I whispered.
"MoonChild, your mother is gone. It is only I who remains." It was mt mothers voice who spoke but then again it wasn’t. It was like her voice was an echo and something more ancient, more powerful came forward when she spoke.
In an instant I felt Ambrose shift, I felt the change, the shift in his bones. And what stood in his place now was a magnificent beast with black fur on four paws.
His jaws dropped with saliva. I felt him enter our head shared headspace.
And for the first time ever I felt Onyx, his familiar, yet new presence inside my brain.
Hello, MoonChild, I’ve waited for my chance to meet with you.
I felt him like a protective presence wrapping warmly around me.
Onyx. It feels good to have you near.
Same to you, Odette. I won’t let him near you.
This overwhelming since of connection filled me. My soul was connected to him. We were syncing up; I could feel his heart beating with mine. I could hear what he heard, and he could see what I see.
It was like a perfect match.
My soul sparked, and it felt alive inside me. Pushing forward, a shared moment.
"Ezelreth, I will destroy you, just like I did last time. You were born a loser; you died a loser. You won’t win, not last time and not this time." The voice that came from me was mine but boomed with ancient power and authority.
Ezelreth chuckled with Violet’s voice. Except it sounded tainted and foreign "We will see MoonChild, won’t we. I am looking forward to our fated war and destined battle."
And with those last words, darkness closed in on us and my mother disappeared in a cloud of shadow and smoke.
And the rogues with them.
I couldn’t hold it in as silent sobs racked my body as I choked on my heartache.
Onyx shifted back into Ambrose next to me "Are you okay?"
I sunk in on myself and let the realization settle in.
"No."
I could barely breathe. I could barely think. The words surrounding me were muffled and distant.
"Let’s go." He whispered in my mind through our bond.
I let him left me from the ground and place me in his arms bridal style. I let the silence I felt fill the air around me.
We returned through the weylines, and even though being connected to Ambrose revived me physically, however, I was mentally and emotionally fatigued.
Seeing my mother like that destroyed me. Was my mother really gone? Or was that demon of a man just lying to make me loose face and leave me with no hope and low morale. Or maybe he wasn’t lying, maybe his evil devoured her soul, and her body became a vessel for the bastard.
My heart was practically breaking my ribs from the anxiety. My fear overtaking every other feeling I had. What if I never see her again? What if my mother was gone for good?
My breathing was shallow and uneven. I was shaking, barely holding myself together. The thought of losing her. It was breaking me.
Panic and paranoia held domain over me. Controlling all my thoughts.
There was a monster walking around wearing my mother like a skin suit.
"Hey, baby. We need you to open the weygate." His smooth voice and the mention of the name baby grounded my wondering thoughts.
I nodded. I turned around in his arms and did the same thing I did before. I touched the stone arch, and the gateway came alive once again with ancient magic, mist and smoke.
"That doesn’t get old." One of the soldiers whispered.
"Agreed." Some of them responded.
My thoughts were going a million miles a minute.
"We’ll talk with Artemasia and figure out a plan. We don’t know anything for sure yet." Ambrose said through our bond.
He sounded hopeful. But I didn’t feel hopeful.
I blinked away my tears and pulled myself closer to him. Nuzzling my nose into his neck.
I could feel his every breath. Hear every beat of his heart. It was the only thing holding me together while I processed what I’d just seen.
When we got back to the palace, he brought me straight to our room.
"I have to go; I will be back. Please, just stay here." He looked at me with pleading eyes. I still haven’t spoken since we left. I simply nodded, giving him the most I could with what I have.
I sat on the bed. In the same position he left me for I don’t know how long. Phera sat in my lap nudging my hand, but I couldn’t find it in me to respond.
Was she really gone?
Phera kept rubbing her head under my hand forcing me to almost pet her.
Which was oddly helping, now that I think about it.
I Just needed to sleep on this a little. It’s late at night.
I head to the shower and let the room steam up before undressing.
The steam warmed my skin, I didn’t know I was so cold until I felt the warmth of its embrace.
As soon as the hot water hit the top of my head, the dam broke.
The tears I’d been holding in burst forth. I let it all out. All the fears, the pain of missing her. the pain of seeing her. Leaving her. Maybe even losing her. I just let it all go. I collapsed on the shower floor and just cried for myself.
I don’t know I started falling asleep but the next thing I know is I’m being picked up off the ground and the smell of pine and... mint? Surrounded me.
It was Ambrose, but it was newer, sweeter.
"Why is my future Luna asleep on the floor of the shower, instead of asleep in the comfort of our bed?"
I blinked my eyes slowly trying to get a better look at my mate.
His smile was soft and gentle, but his screams desire and passion.
"Waiting for her King to sweep her off her feet."
