Chapter 180: Chapter 180 freёnovelkiss.com

For the following days, we trained and sparred, pushing our limits to the core. The adrenaline of combat, coupled with our camaraderie, forged a bond that felt unbreakable. We moved and lived alongside the townsfolk, and as time passed, we became increasingly integrated into their daily lives.

I lost track of how many weeks we had spent here. Explosions occasionally rattled near, and monsters continued to attack from time to time. Each time, we banded together with the residents to resolve any troubles that arose.

Under Cypher’s leadership, the townsfolk were able to take a stand against Levi’s corrupt subordinates. Those who had thrived on misdeeds found themselves chased out, their influence weakened through the power of voting that Cypher had established. It was a sight to behold as the hierarchical system that kept the town in fear began to dissolve, replaced by an atmosphere of hope and unity.

As time wore on, our bond with the townsfolk deepened. Whitney became a fixture among the residents, always on the lookout for someone she believed could be an ancestor of a notable figure. Angela spent her days playing with the local children, her laughter ringing through the air like bells. Rex worked tirelessly to regain his strength, pushing himself in the training sessions, while Christian engaged the residents in heartfelt conversations, listening to their stories and histories. Edge had even formed his own crew, filled with the strongest among the townsfolk, and inspiring them to be more than they ever imagined.

For my part, I found myself lying on the grassy ground next to a tree, taking a short moment of peace. My hunting duties had been completed a while ago, and I no longer had an immediate task to occupy myself with.

"Umm, your name’s Remillia, right?" The soft voice broke through my reverie.

I opened one eye to see Morton standing above me, looking both curious and hopeful.

"Yes, why?" I replied, still sprawled out on the grass.

"I heard from Cypher that you’re stronger than him," he said, hesitating for a moment. "I want you to have a spar with me."

I opened both eyes fully, sitting up and leaning against the tree trunk. "Why?"

Morton scratched his head, clearly nervous. "It’s fine if you don’t want to spar; I just want to know how strong you really are."

I raised a hand, gesturing for him to wait. He looked at me quizzically.

"Lend me a hand, and we’ll spar," I said with a grin.

His face lit up, and he eagerly grabbed my hand, pulling me to my feet.

Laughter surrounded us as others joined in the cheerful atmosphere. It was a time of joy, camaraderie, and, unbeknownst to everyone, an impending farewell.

Time seemed to pass in a breeze, and before I knew it, we found ourselves gathered around a lively dinner table. The residents laughed and chatted loudly.

I slowly savored the moment. The sound of laughter, the gentle breeze, the warmth of the sunset, and the shared joy enveloped me, creating an atmosphere of unity and peace.

"She doesn’t look all that cold, eh?" one resident joked.

"Of course! She’s the one who drove away that tyrant, after all," another replied, laughter rising again.

"She’s just shy towards us!" someone added, eliciting more chuckles.

"Did you see how Morton couldn’t even land a punch at her? Hahaha!" another voice chimed in, teasingly.

This parallel world, filled with life and potential, would soon fade away.

When dinner concluded, I took a moment to survey my surroundings. A mother waved farewell with her child nestled in her arms; elderly residents smiled in delight; young men and women cast respectful, awe-filled glances my way.

I returned their gazes warmly and bowed slightly. "Thank you for everything."

Having dinner together felt like a final gesture of unity before our departure. No, it was our last business in this world.

"No, we should be thanking you instead!" an elderly man replied, his voice warm with gratitude.

"Goodbye~" a younger woman called, waving energetically.

"Will you come by again?" another asked, his eyes hopeful yet shadowed with uncertainty.

These people—innocent and blissfully unaware—didn’t know that this was only a parallel world that would soon dissolve.

I turned to Cypher and the others who had gathered in a small circle nearby, their expressions bittersweet.

"Then..." I said, my pulse quickening with the weight of what we were about to do.

Cypher nodded, his smile tinged with sadness. "We’ll go get them."

"Yeah," the others echoed.

Each member of our party moved to retrieve a shard of the mirror we held, the tool that would return us to our original world. I walked into the clock tower, making my way slowly up the stairs until I reached the rooftop.

As I sat down on the floor, I gazed up at the sky. The sun hung low, halfway down the horizon, casting long shadows and enveloping the landscape in warm hues of orange and gold.

The beauty of this world pulled at my heartstrings, even as I steeled myself for the task ahead. I knew what we were doing was necessary, but that didn’t diminish the bittersweet feeling swelling within me.

After several moments of quiet reflection, I sensed a presence behind me.

"Remillia," Edge’s voice broke through my thoughts. He was the first to return, nonchalantly tossing a shard of the mirror my way before making his way back down. Below, I could see his crew—his fan club, as we liked to call them—waiting for him with tears glistening in their eyes.

"Remillia!" Christian’s voice rang out from below as he tossed his shard up, which I caught deftly.

"Thanks," I replied, a small smile creeping onto my face.

Next was Rex who was whistling as he made his way up to the rooftop. "Catch, witch!" he called as he approached, tossing two shards my way.

I raised an eyebrow at him, puzzled by the two shards he had given me.

"Oh, Angela gave the other one to me," he explained with a casual shrug. "She said she was too lazy to come up here."

I nodded in understanding.

"Anyways, I’ll be going now," Rex dismissed with a wave. Just as he turned to leave, Whitney arrived, her usual buoyancy shining through.

"Remillia! Here you—What?" she started to say but was cut off by Rex’s sudden interruption as he snatched the shard from her hand and passed it to me.

"Come on, let’s go." he said in a hurry, dragging her back down the stairs despite her protests. "I want to give them a chance~"

"What are you talking about? I wanted to talk to her about something—Ah, hey! What are you doing?" she complained, her voice fading with their descent.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Cypher made his way up, pulling himself onto the rooftop. "Remi, I’m here. Did you wait too long?" He handed me the last shard.

"No, you arrived just in time," I smiled at him and grabbed the shard.

With all seven shards gathered, I felt our mission has slowly coming to an end.

"Are you going to destroy them now?" Cypher sat down next to me, his eyes glued to mine, filled with anticipation and concern.

"Yes," I confirmed, my voice steady but my heart wavering.

"Can I watch?" He requested, his eyes brightening just a bit amidst the melancholy.

"Sure," I said, grateful for his presence in this moment.

I placed the shards back in the frame of the hand mirror, and as soon as they rested in place, it glowed a brilliant golden glow, reflecting my own aura. The cracks that had once marred the surface began to disappear, revealing the pristine beauty of the mirror.

With each pulse of light, I activated and infused my Spectral Seal into the mirror’s frame. The seal, engraved in the center of my chest, illuminated the air around us. I felt the connection deepen, as if the essence of this world was merging with my own.

With one final, heavy sigh, I brought my hand down hard against the mirror.

Clang!

The hand mirror shattered into a thousand pieces, and as it did, the scenery around us began to dissolve into dust. The vibrant colors of the world faded, replaced by a swirling mass of golden particles.

The sky too began to change, morphing into a brilliant golden hue, slowly being sucked into an invisible force. I stood there, unwavering, as I watched this world softly crumble away, a bittersweet ache settling in my chest. It felt surreal; like the end of a beautiful dream.

"Goodbye," I whispered, watching as the last traces of existence in this parallel world faded away into dust. As the final remnants of the landscape dissolved, an enveloping warmth wrapped around me, and I let my eyes flutter closed.

It was dark. I can’t see nor touch anything. I was just floating aimlessly.

Suddenly, a voice broke through the silence, piercing the void around me. "...Remillia!"
