Chapter 56: Chapter 56

Adriel threw the pouch back at her.

"WHY DO YOU HAVE CHROMIDS IN THERE?"

Adriel shouldn’t have trusted this mad witch. She has dozens of Chromids living inside that little pouch.

Remillia just sighed at him.

"Mister, dont worry they’re already dead."

She released one and let it roam around the kitchen.

"Then why are you keeping them?"

"I can control them."

"What?"

"I’m an Awakened and this is my ability. I can control the dead ones to do my bidding"

Adriel can’t believe what he’s hearing.

’What kind of scary ability is that? She really is a mad witch!’

"You know that Chromids can be invisible to the eyes of others right? I’m planning of releasing at least ten of them to guard your restaurant."

"That’s great then. I won’t have to worry about the two."

"Or should I just give you these as a gift?"

Adriel widened his eyes then immediately shook his hands.

"No thanks! We can’t control them even if you give them to us."

"I guess you’re right."

The kitchen door opened as Chris hurriedly placed all the dirty plates beside me.

"Remi, can you wash the plates a little bit faster? We have too many customers this time."

"Sure."

Chris said ’thanks’ before going outside.

"Mister, it seems that your son forgot that I was a visitor and not your employee."

Adriel just laughed at her remark.

"Forgive him this time, he’s just excited that his work got a lot easier."

It was already past lunch when they were finsihed service the customers.

"I’ll contact you when it’s time, mister."

"Before you go, I packed you lunch and dessert as a way of saying thanks and sorry for my son’s behavior."

It was Chris’ turn to say goodbye to me.

"Hehe sorry for what I did earlier, Remi."

"No worries and besides I enjoyed it."

His eyes brightened as he held my hands.

"Then can you come again whenever you have a free time? You see, my dad here won’t hire any other emplo-"

Smack!

Adriel hit the back of Chris’ head.

"I apologize for my son’s behavior again."

"Dad! Why did you do that?"

"Shut it."

Lastly, it was Granny Kara’s turn to say goodbye.

"Dear, good luck on your exams. Make sure you ace it."

"I will, Granny Kara."

I said my good bye at the three of them and walked to the train station.

’Macaron, come here.’

In an instant, Macaron was already sitting at her shoulder.

"Are there any suspicious activities going around while you scouted the village?"

<There are a total of five men spread out in all corners of the village wearing all black and visiting every house and establishments. They seem to be looking for something.>

"Wow, they didn’t even hide their identity. One look of them and they would already know that they’re not just regular tourists. What kind of dumb assassins did he assigned to kill me?"

’He has a lot of money but doesn’t know how to spent it.’

I looked at Macaron who suddenly became thin. Probably because of hours of flying around.

"You must have been starving. Here, eat some."

I ordered some mini creampuffs when I passed by a bakery. I popped one into his beak which he gladly munched it down.

<So what are you gonna do with the men in black?>

"Just leave them be. I already sent a message to Mister Adriel on what to do with their ’visitors’. It’s just a shame that I’ll miss the show on how the Chromids play with them."

<Sheesh, you’re really mad.>

Macaron said it in a whisper.

"You saying something?"

<I said that you’re really a benevolent master.>

"Good boy. Here, have another one."

Macaron gladly accepted it.

Screech!

Choo-choo!

Right on time, the train came to a full stop in front of the station.

She stepped inside and went to her designated seat before closing her eyes.

[Have you forgotten something?]

’Not that I know of.’

[Tomorrow’s Monday.]

’So?’

[...Exams?]

’Can’t I just sleep for a bit?’

[It’s up to you. I mean if you fail, you would have to repeat the semester again and your goal would fail. Also the main cha-]

"Alright! Alright!"

She annoyingly sighed as she shooed the system screen away from her.

She grabbed her bag but realized that she doesn’t have her notebook and pen.

[You need me right?]

"..."

[Just say, please master.]

As much as she’s annoyed by the system she has no choice but to need its help. She can only clenched her teeth as she force herself to say those thing.

"P-please master."

[HAHAHAHA!]

The system revealed the notes she copied on every class as she read it from start to finish.

’I hate school.’

Meanwhile, it was already midnight in Korondal and Adriel was the only one awake. The two didn’t know their plan and he doesn’t plan on telling it to them.

When Remillia went on her way, Adriel received a message from her that made him shiver.

{Mister, you’ll be expecting some ’visitors’ later. Make sure to give them a warm welcome from my precious Chromids.

P.s. Once the Chromids are done, just open the pouch and they will immediately go inside. As for the visitors, can you gather their bodies in the other pouch I gave you? I have some use of them later on.}

Thinking about it, he shuddered again as it gave him goosebumps.

Rustle.

Rustle.

He became alert as he heard noises outside his restaurant. He took a peek outside the window, five men dressed in all black were snooping around the corners of his restaurant and when he saw that all of them are inside. He released the contents of the pouch.

Fwoosh!

Fwoosh!

Fwoosh!

The assassins got scared when the lights turned off and the air suddenly got chilly.

Scarlet, one of the assassins asked as he pulled out a dagger.

"What happened?"

"I don’t kn- ack-!"

The scream of the other assassin was cut off as he turned around but he was already nowhere to be found.

"Max? Where are you?!"

"Gab?!"

"Keuk!"

"Hel-!"

One by one the assassins went missing as he was the only one left.

"W-who’s there?! Show yourself!"

Sweating profusely, Scarlet swung his dagger carelessly in the dark, he can’t see nor touch anything.

"What’s happening?! Somebody help!"

It seemed as if he was trapped in an abyss!

On the second floor, Adriel watched the assassins as they stood there motionless as is saliva dripped out of their mouths.

’I’m glad I don’t have to experience that again.’

Chromids are one of the most terrifying types of monsters you can run into. They corrupt your minds and show you your deepest fears. Once you face them, you can only pray that you have a stronger mentality to help you not go fully insane.

He opened the pouch for the Chromids and left it on the second floor while he went down to stuff the paralyzed bodies in the other pouch.

Now that work here is done, he better send it back to Remillia as early as possible. He doesn’t want to be near to the Chromids again.

I finally arrived at the Academy at exactly 3:30 A.M. I’m feeling groggy and tired from the continuous trips I’ve made these past two days.

I squinted my eyes as I hardly found my way to bed. I didn’t even bother changing my clothes and just laid there finally going back to dreamland.

Cypher can’t sleep those past two days when Remillia was gone so he studied every subject while meeting with the rest of the group.

Monday, 3:25 A.M. He was reading the last topic of Counterattacks on Apex ranked Monsters when he heard a noise outside just beside his room.

Curious, he went to check it and quietly opened his door. He almost couldn’t stop himself when he saw the person he was missing for two days.

’Huh? Why didn’t she notice me?’

She didn’t even close her door properly, what if someone saw it and not him?

He looked around and made sure that no one’s around before covering the cctv with his mana and made sure to lock Remi’s room.

’I would just greet her later, she seems to be very tired.’

<MASTER! IT’S THE START OF EXAM WEEK! I SWEAR YOU DON’T WANT TO BE LATE TODAY!>

"Ughh!"

I automatically raised my head as I look around in daze.

<Eww! Go to the bathroom now! I can see your saliva still dripping from here!>

"Maybe I can rest for five more minutes?"

<No! Now get up while I ready your clothes!>

I finally stood up and found my way to the bathroom.

"You’re slowly resembling my mom more if you keep nagging me like that."

<You made me like this! Always making me your personal alarm clock just because ordinary alarm clocks don’t work on you. Why don’t you just make a...>
