She tossed the earphones into Wen Zhiyuan’s arms and glared at him, "The probation period is reduced to three days!"

With that, Shen Di ran away.

It wasn’t very early anymore, and due to health reasons, she always rested earlier.

The butler gave Wen Zhiyuan a cold glance and silently left too.

Wen Zhiyuan stood there, smiling.

The air still held a trace of her scent, a faint perfume aroma with amber, musk, and cedar undertones.

After entering the bedroom, Shen Di turned on the lamp by the bed. Just as she changed her clothes, the butler knocked on the door.

"Miss."

"Come in."

The butler pushed the door open, carrying a tray with honey milk and pills.

"Miss, drink it while it’s hot."

"Alright."

Shen Di took the milk, had a sip, and sensed it tasted a bit different than before.

She frowned slightly, "It’s sweeter than before."

The butler’s face remained expressionless, "This was prepared by Dr. Wen. The honey was bought by him from New Zealand, from his friend’s plantation, all-natural and harmless."

"Do you believe what he says?" Shen Di laughed, "He looks like a man who would lie."

The butler neither nodded nor shook his head, "Miss, if you think he’s a liar, it’s better to stay away from him. Just find an excuse to send him away in three days."

"Hmm." Shen Di didn’t say much more.

Wen Zhiyuan’s guest room was quite far from Shen Di’s, but from the window, he could see the light in her room.

His life was very regular; usually in the evenings, he’d read medical books and rarely go to bars or nightclubs.

However, tonight was an exception.

He wandered around Shen Di’s villa, visiting her art studio and music room. These places weren’t locked, nor were there any private belongings.

In the studio, Shen Di’s paintings were mostly in single tones, very calm, with little variation in the scenes.

Wen Zhiyuan touched these paintings, smiling, more eager to understand her.

At first sight, she was stunning; upon seeing her again, she was tender. He didn’t know which was the truest and best version of her.

"Dr. Wen," the butler appeared, "you should rest early and don’t wander around."

"Mm, I understand."

"Miss has been quite well recently. You don’t need to worry too much. Our Miss isn’t a girl with a bad temper, and you don’t have to stay at the villa all the time. You could take a job at a hospital."

The butler’s meaning was clear; this position could be part-time.

"I have a sense of propriety," Wen Zhiyuan replied calmly, his gaze steady.

"Dr. Wen, I heard you’re also from C City? Could you tell me why you came here?" the butler asked.

Since Shen Di was very young, the butler had followed her to Australia. Over the years, Shen Di had treated the butler like family, and the butler treated her as a daughter.

"I’m from C City, coming here..." Wen Zhiyuan thought for a moment, "to cover living expenses. Is that reason sufficient?"

The butler’s expression was halfway between a smile and not, "My Miss dislikes liars the most, Dr. Wen, take care of yourself."

Wen Zhiyuan laughed, "Your Miss is quite special."

The butler calmly replied, "If there’s anything, just tell me. Miss doesn’t like to worry, and I can’t bear to let her worry."

Looking at the middle-aged woman, Wen Zhiyuan nodded in the night, "You can leave things for me to worry about in the future."

The butler seemed not to understand his words, glanced at him, and walked away.

Shen Di didn’t change her routine because of Wen Zhiyuan’s arrival. Her daily life continued as usual.

After breakfast the next day, Wen Zhiyuan refilled her prescription with western medicine.

"Don’t take the previous Chinese medicine for now. I’ve seen the prescription and it doesn’t help much. Next time I return to the country, I’ll re-prescribe it for you," Wen Zhiyuan said seriously.

Stern-faced Wen Zhiyuan was different from yesterday. Shen Di, like a child, sat in front of him, only nodding.

She didn’t understand these things, just listened to the doctor.

"This box of medicine, three times a day, two tablets each time; this one, twice a day, morning and evening; and this oral liquid, to boost immunity, take one vial before bedtime," he instructed.

The spread of medicine boxes on the table made Shen Di frown.

These years, she had never been without medication, making her somewhat irritable.

But she had a good temper and upbringing, so she said nothing and only nodded blankly.

"The oral liquid is a bit bitter, bear with it for now. I’ll find a way," Wen Zhiyuan said.

"Got it, doctor," Shen Di replied.

"Don’t be so formal with me, just call me Wen Zhiyuan. I’ll go with you to the concert tomorrow, and afterward, I’ll take you for some hospital checks," he added.

"I won’t go!" Shen Di immediately refused. She didn’t like hospitals, really didn’t!

Wen Zhiyuan was stunned, then laughed, "You’re like a child."

"If I say I won’t go, I won’t go. If you want to go, you go!"

"How can you not go to the hospital? I need to know more about your condition," he argued.

"You don’t need to know. After the concert tomorrow, you can go; probation failed," she retorted.

"Why?"

"Here, I’m in charge. If I say you fail, you fail," Shen Di got angry.

"Just because I want to take you to the hospital?"

"You’re annoying. Is that reason enough?"

Wen Zhiyuan laughed even more, moving closer to her, "Miss Shen, how old are you?"

As he approached, Shen Di instinctively backed away but still caught a whiff of his refreshing scent, like mint.

Her heart suddenly raced like a mountain filled with blooming flowers.

Shen Di blushed slightly, "Wen Zhiyuan, I’m not a child, so you don’t need to manage me. If I say I’m not going, I won’t."

"I think you’re quite childish," Wen Zhiyuan instantly put on a stern face, "You’re going to the hospital tomorrow, no objections. If you dare escape, do you believe I’ll tie you up and take you?"

"Are you a pervert?"

"A pervert?" It was the first time someone described him that way, he raised an eyebrow, "If being a pervert makes you behave, I don’t mind."

Shen Di eyed him cautiously, retreating.

Wen Zhiyuan twitched his mouth, also watching her. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

The two just stared at each other, neither giving way, but neither speaking.

Wen Zhiyuan was curious, was he that scary? Did she really think he was a pervert?

After a while, Shen Di finally opened the medicine box, took out some pills, and swallowed them with water.

"Pack up later, I’ll take you hiking. Aerobic exercise is good for your health, but don’t worry, I’m here, I’ll watch over you," Wen Zhiyuan said.

"I’m not going. I hate hiking the most."

"What sports do you like then?"

"None!"

Since she was young, she had been in poor health, often confined to the house. Later, she had no interest in sports whatsoever, preferring to play the piano, read, or paint and arrange flowers at home.

"Miss Shen, if you keep this up, you’ll get fat. And if you get fat, you won’t be able to get married," Wen Zhiyuan spread his hands.
