I'm the Owner of the Pokémon Day Care In the World of Pokémon-Chapter 1436: The Sleeping Maiden
Chapter 1436 - The Sleeping Maiden
After returning from Yuga's place, Ayamu told Teacher Chiffon that she had already conveyed the request of the Immortals to the gym leader. So, Teacher Chiffon could only wait patiently for Yuga's response.
Since Zenith Academy had come in name to visit the YoYo Day Care, they had to put on a bit of a show. The next day, with Yuga's permission, Ayamu brought the teacher and upperclassmen to tour the new ecopark.
However, the visit to the YoYo Day Care ended up giving Teacher Chiffon a pleasant surprise.
While the people couldn't enter the System's Ecopark, there was no problem with visiting the new ecopark park.
Because Anya had been learning about breeder knowledge from Mr. Harrison, she would occasionally come to the new ecopark to help the assistant Pokémon with their tasks.
When Ayamu brought the teacher and classmates to the new ecopark, Anya happened to be there as well. At the time, she was grooming the fur of the two mutant Alolan Raticate that stood guard at the entrance of the ecopark.
The fur of Alolan Raticate gets dirty very easily, especially since these two often stayed outside. So their fur would be cleaned regularly — sometimes by the assistant Pokémon, and sometimes with Anya's help.
But Anya's presence there today wasn't exactly a coincidence — it was actually something Yuga had deliberately arranged.
Anya had been studying under Mr. Harrison and was already capable of going independent, but since she rarely interacted with other breeders, Yuga hoped she could use this opportunity to communicate more with the teachers and students from the academy, as it would be beneficial to her growth.
When Toyomi saw the two enormous Raticate, he rushed forward in surprise and delight, his eyes gleaming as he said, "Are these Alolan-form Raticate? They're so big!"
"Yes, these two are mutant Pokémon, so their size is a bit different from normal ones," Anya replied with a bright smile to Toyomi.
Only then did Toyomi realize that his behavior had been a bit rude, so he blushed and apologized, "S-Sorry, I was just too excited."
Anya didn't blame him and smiled, "It's okay, I understand."
As a breeder, getting excited upon encountering a special individual Pokémon was inevitable. Anya had already learned of the identities of Chiffon, Toyomi, and Tanba the day before.
Toyomi wasn't good at talking to people, much less to girls. So when he saw Anya's radiant smile, his face instantly turned bright red, utterly innocent — which made Anya cover her mouth and giggle.
At that point, Ayamu came forward to introduce them to each other.
After the introductions, Anya graciously said to Teacher Chiffon, Toyomi, and Tanba, "Thank you for taking care of Ayamu at school."
Although Ayamu wasn't Anya's biological younger sister, they had relied on each other since childhood, and by now there was no difference between them and real siblings.
"Ayamu is obedient and eager to learn — everyone likes her. It's not really a matter of taking care of her or not," Teacher Chiffon said warmly.
After some small talk, they started discussing the two mutant Raticate.
Through the conversation, Teacher Chiffon was surprised to discover that Anya's foundational knowledge was extremely solid — not inferior at all to the top students at their academy, and she had especially deep insights when it came to raising Grass-type Pokémon.
Toyomi and Tanba were also deeply impressed by Anya.
Although Anya hadn't studied breeder knowledge in a formal academy setting, Mr. Harrison had been cultivating her as his successor and had passed on all of his knowledge without reservation. It wasn't surprising at all that Anya had reached her current level.
After chatting for a while, Anya took the initiative and suggested, "Why don't I take everyone for a tour inside the ecopark?" Compared to Ayamu, Anya was certainly more familiar with the new ecopark, so it was more appropriate for her to lead the group.
"That would be wonderful!"
Hearing Anya's offer, no one was happier than Toyomi — his face even turned slightly red with excitement. A young man experiencing his first crush, having a beautiful lady to accompany him was obviously a delightful thing.
It wasn't exactly love at first sight for him, but as a teenager, encountering a beautiful girl would inevitably stir up some special feelings.
Although Ayamu was also a girl, a thirteen or fourteen-year-old girl was still like a bean sprout — no match for the charm of a beautiful older sister.
Thus, under Anya's guidance, the group entered the new ecopark for a tour.
Although there weren't many high-potential Pokémon in Yuga's new ecopark, there were indeed a lot of rare ones. Whether it was starters like Charmander and Chikorita, or rare species like Swablu, Flabébé, Eevee, and Vulpix, they could all be seen here in abundance.
Potential is not something that can be seen with the naked eye, so the Pokémon in the new park were already enough to open the eyes of the students and teacher from Zenith Academy.
In addition, the new park had environments simulating different types, such as an Ice-type habitat created with Never-Melt Ice, a Fire-type habitat simulated with Fire Stone powder, and a Grass-type environment built with exotic plants. All of these dazzled the group.
Zenith Academy also had its own Ecopark, but whether in terms of hardware facilities or the variety of Pokémon, it couldn't compare to what YoYo Day Care had.
The only area where they had a slight advantage was probably in the size of their Ecopark.
Zenith Academy had been established for many years, and their Ecopark was particularly large. Even if Yuga combined three or four of his new ecopark, they still wouldn't match up to the size of a single one at Zenith.
However, Chiffon and the others had heard that YoYo Day Care had its own secret breeding base overseas, so their small advantage didn't really count for much.
In fact, most breeder schools had ecopark that weren't small, because their main function was Pokémon breeding. Whether it was for students to practice or teachers to teach, Pokémon were essential.
By comparison, Zenith Academy's Ecopark was already considered small, because of their strict admission requirements. With a naturally smaller student body, there was no need to breed many extra Pokémon. After all, raising too many would also be a burden on the academy.
Most Ecopark at breeder schools raised ordinary Pokémon. This made it easier for students to practice and study, as breeding techniques for ordinary Pokémon were more developed than those for rare ones.
But once breeders reached a certain level, they would no longer be satisfied with only breeding ordinary Pokémon. It was the breeding of rare Pokémon that truly presented a challenge.
This was exactly why Toyomi and the others envied the fact that YoYo Day Care had so many rare Pokémon.
As Anya guided Chiffon and the others around the new park, she also exchanged insights with them on Pokémon breeding techniques used there.
The Pokémon in the new park were mostly taken care of by assistant Pokémon, and those assistants were from the Joy family. Therefore, the breeding methods employed were extremely advanced.
The Joy family was not only the largest clan of Pokémon doctors in the world, but also the largest family of breeders. Even ancient institutions like Zenith Academy couldn't compare to them.
After this exchange, not only did Anya and Ayamu gain a lot, but Teacher Chiffon also came away with new inspiration. As for Toyomi and Tanba, the benefits they received were even greater.
When they left the new exopark, the group still hadn't had their fill.
Although, for Chiffon, visiting YoYo Day Care was just a pretense to request Yuga's help, today's exchanges turned out to be an unexpected surprise.
At noon, Yuga hosted a banquet at the gym to entertain Teacher Chiffon's group and gave his response to the request from the Fairy Remnants.
After lunch, Yuga met with Chiffon privately.
Yuga got straight to the point and said, "I've roughly understood your request on behalf of the Fairy Remnants. My Pokémon do indeed have the ability to generate fairy aura, and I can help."
Yuga had made the decision to agree to this after careful consideration.
"Really?" Teacher Chiffon was overjoyed when she heard Yuga's response.
"But..." she then heard Yuga continue, "I don't know exactly what's wrong with your guardian Pokémon. I'll have to see it before I can draw any conclusions. Until then, I won't make any guarantees."
Teacher Chiffon's expression changed slightly, but she soon said, "What you said makes sense. Even if we fail in the end, we won't hold any resentment."
To be honest, they didn't know for sure whether the fairy aura could solve the guardian Pokémon's problem. They had found this method in ancient texts from their clan. It hadn't been verified and could only be considered a desperate attempt.
The Fairy Remnants weren't so unreasonable as to blame someone for trying an unproven method. Besides, the person in front of them wasn't someone the Fairy Remnants could afford to offend lightly.
It was precisely because they knew the times had changed that ancient remnants like them chose to live in seclusion.
Teacher Chiffon's attitude made Yuga very satisfied. After thinking for a moment, he asked, "May I ask how you thought of coming to find me?"
Hearing Yuga's question, Teacher Chiffon was briefly stunned, then seemed to think of something and smiled as she explained, "It's like this..."
She then told Yuga about the connection between the principal and the Mineral Nation. After hearing it, Yuga suddenly understood and also felt a sense of relief in his heart.
"Well... um... about this time... the payment for your help..." Now that the matter was settled, Teacher Chiffon spoke hesitantly.
Of course, Yuga wouldn't act without compensation. Everything needed to follow the principle of equivalent exchange.
After thinking for a moment, Yuga replied, "Let's put the matter of compensation aside for now. We'll talk about it once the issue is resolved. If I end up being of no help, then there's no point discussing any reward."
After speaking with Yuga, Teacher Chiffon went back and contacted the principal of Zenith Academy, who was also the chieftain of the Fairy Remnants.
On the other side of the communicator, an elderly man appeared on the screen and said to Teacher Chiffon via video, "Since Mr. Shimizu has agreed to help, there is no time to lose. I will send the guardian Pokémon over tomorrow. As for the matter of compensation, I will personally discuss it with Mr. Shimizu."
"I understand, Chieftain! Then I shall await the arrival of the guardian Pokémon," Teacher Chiffon said respectfully to the elder.
"Very well." The old man nodded, then his figure disappeared from the screen.
Early the next morning, at the transmission machine of Verdant Gym, Teacher Chiffon received the Poké Ball transmitted by the principal, which contained the guardian Pokémon of the Fairy Remnants.
Teacher Chiffon brought the guardian Pokémon to Yuga.
"Mr. Shimizu, our guardian Pokémon has arrived. Do you have time now?"
Yuga replied, "Of course."
In truth, Yuga didn't know whether he could actually help. Whether Fairy Aura could save the guardian Pokémon of the Fairy Remnants was merely their own claim.
The two entered a room inside the gym. Teacher Chiffon opened the Poké Ball, and with a flash of red light, a fainted Pokémon appeared in front of Yuga.
Seeing this Pokémon, Yuga was stunned for a moment.
...
[ Magearna (Soul-Heart Slumbering) ]
Type: Steel, Fairy
Ability: Soul-Heart
Gender: None
Aptitude: Unknown
Level: Unknown
Moves: Trick Guard, Gear Support, Shift Gear, Iron Head, Sonic Boom, Defense Curl, Flash Cannon, Lucky Chant, Aurora Beam, Mirror Shot, Mind Reader, Cannon Beam, Floral Cannon, Iron Defense, Heart Swap, Trump Card, Calm Mind, Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball, Double Team, Reflect, Energy Ball, Aura Sphere, Volt Switch, Thunder Wave, Cannon Beam, Dazzling Gleam, Signal Beam, Heal Bell.
...
Yuga recognized Magearna, but he wasn't very familiar with it, as there were no records of it in the known literature of the Pokémon world, and he had mostly forgotten the original content about this Pokémon from his previous life.
By coincidence, Ash from the distant Kalos region had just recently encountered this Pokémon and had even mentioned it when communicating with Yuga.
Magearna was a man-made Pokémon.
In the Kalos region, there was a super mechanical city known as the Azoth Kingdom. Over five hundred years ago, a genius scientist of the Azoth Kingdom named Nikola created this Pokémon. However, it later disappeared and only reappeared when Ash and his friends arrived in the Azoth Kingdom.
But clearly, the one in front of Yuga now was not the same one Ash encountered, as that one was currently living in seclusion on the distant Nebel Plateau.
Yet, since this Pokémon was created by Nikola, how could the Fairy Remnants still have one in their possession? Yuga was completely baffled.
Could it be that the Fairy Remnants had some kind of connection with Nikola? But creating a Pokémon on the level of Magearna wouldn't be easy, let alone making two of them.
No matter how much he thought about it, Yuga couldn't figure it out, so he could only set the doubt aside for now. After all, pursuing this matter any further didn't really hold much meaning—it wasn't related to him anyway.
According to what was shown through the Insight skill, the reason this Magearna had fallen unconscious was because its Soul-Heart had entered a dormant state, and Soul-Heart was the very source of Magearna's existence and consciousness.
Yuga truly admired the person who created Magearna. Magearna was, in essence, mechanical, and yet someone had managed to give a machine thought and rich emotion—what a wondrous thing that was.
This was fundamentally different from other man-made Pokémon like Mewtwo.
The ancient Pokémon world possessed many mysterious powers that had now been lost. To this day, many of them still defy explanation. Magearna's Soul-Heart was one of those enigmas.
Looking at the Magearna slumbering like a maiden, Yuga thought to himself: Could it be that I need to use Fairy Aura to awaken Magearna's Soul-Heart?
After a moment of contemplation, Yuga looked at Teacher Chiffon and asked, "May I ask you a question?"
Teacher Chiffon replied, "Please, go ahead."
"How did your guardian Pokémon fall into this slumber?" Yuga asked.
"Well..." Upon hearing the question, Teacher Chiffon showed a troubled expression. It wasn't that she didn't want to tell Yuga—she simply didn't know.
The guardian Pokémon rarely showed itself among the Fairy Remnants. If it weren't for this unexpected incident, she might not even see Magearna once in an entire year.
Seeing that Teacher Chiffon couldn't give him an answer, Yuga could only drop the matter.
"Then let me try and see if I can wake it up."
