Incubus Ascension-Chapter 15
Liam turned to Pyra after they’d been wandering around the school for a while with nothing turning up.
"Hey, why don’t we check the teachers’ waiting room first?
That’s where everyone hangs out between classes. Might be something there we missed."
She stopped walking, crossed her arms, and stared at the floor for a second like she was weighing it.
Then her shoulders relaxed and she gave a small nod. "You know what? That actually makes a lot of sense. Let’s go."
They headed straight there. The room was empty, just the usual desks and chairs scattered around, and the faint smell of old coffee.
Liam started pulling open drawers while Pyra checked the shelves.
Most of them were boring, lesson plans, pens, a half-eaten pack of gum.
But when he slid open the bottom drawer of the desk that belonged to Eva’s teacher, his hand brushed against something rolled up tight and wrapped in dark cloth.
He pulled it out. Two old-looking scrolls, the paper thick and humming with that weird static feeling magic sometimes gives off.
Pyra leaned over his shoulder and let out a long breath. "Great. More questions."
Liam rolled them back up carefully and slipped them into his backpack.
"I’ll take these and do some research tonight. Figure out what they actually are."
She watched him zip the bag shut, then shrugged.
"Okay. But you better tell me the second you find anything. Don’t go lone-wolf on this."
"Deal," he said, and they locked up the room behind them.
Liam nodded goodbye to her in the hallway and started walking toward Beatrix’s house.
The scrolls felt heavier in his bag than they should have.
He kept thinking about how he needed to tell her he wasn’t staying anymore.
The whole V situation was over, so he could go back to the dorms. No more crashing on her couch.
He still had the backpack on, scrolls tucked inside, when he reached her front door. He knocked twice.
Beatrix opened it a second later, holding a tray of fresh cookies like it was the most normal thing in the world. She barely looked at him. "Oh. You’re back."
She walked past him to the kitchen table, set the tray down, then turned around with her hands on her hips.
"So. Where the hell did you vanish to yesterday?"
He hesitated, rubbing the back of his neck. "The problem’s sorted.
I can move back to my dorm room now. No need to keep taking up your space."
She snorted, grabbing a cookie for herself. "I’ll miss you washing the dishes, at least."
He ignored that and reached for one of the cookies.
His backpack strap slipped off his shoulder as he leaned forward, and the top flap fell open just enough for the edge of one scroll to poke out.
Beatrix had been sipping her tea, calm as anything.
Then her eyes flicked down, the cup slipped from her fingers, and hot tea splashed across the table.
Her eyes went wide. Before he could even say a word, she snatched the scroll out of his bag and unrolled it fast.
"Where the hell did you get these?" she demanded.
He watched her face, really watched it. The way her hands were shaking a little.
Whatever was on those scrolls clearly meant something big to her.
He had to decide right then: lie, or tell her part of the truth? She’d given him a place to stay when V was hunting him down.
That counted for something. He wasn’t about to spill everything, but he owed her at least this much.
"Just some scrolls I found while cleaning the classrooms," he said, keeping his voice even.
She laughed once, short and sharp. "Bullshit. Nobody leaves something like this lying around like a forgotten textbook."
He stepped closer. "Then tell me what’s so special about them.
Because I’m serious, if it’s that bad, I’ll just burn them right now."
Her face tightened. She stared at the scroll for a long second, then sighed like the weight of the world was on her shoulders.
"Don’t. Don’t burn them. These have ties to the royal succubus family.
The kind of family that would kill you just for touching their heirloom."
He felt his stomach drop. He’d been walking around all day with a literal target on his back and hadn’t even known it.
He shook his head, trying to clear it. How did Beatrix know any of this?
And why the hell had she taken so many pictures of him a month ago? It was time to ask.
"Why did you take all those pictures of me?" he asked quietly.
She set her jaw, eyes hard for a second.
Then something in her face softened, like she’d already shown too much and decided there was no point hiding the rest.
She looked straight at him. "I’ll tell you the truth. But we do this under a soul pact.
Break the rules and your soul gets destroyed. No take-backs."
He nodded. She started laying it out, voice steady.
"First rule: this relationship is mutually beneficial. You help me, I help you. Say yes."
"Yes," he said.
"Second: if I find out you betrayed me and told any humans about what I really am, I’ll curse you.
Succubi know curse arts. You’ll bleed from your groin for the rest of your life. Say yes."
He swallowed but kept his voice level. "Yes. But I have my own rules too."
She raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"If you betray me, I’ll hunt you down to the ends of the earth. And if you screwed with someone else behind my back you die instantly"
She raised an eyebrow, "Huh, So controlling?"
He sharpened his stare at her, "Not controlling, I don’t just want to catch STD"
She laugh, "hahah, believe me. I hate this scubbuss half of mine. I’m not some slut throwing herself around.
I only do it because of you being the chosen one."
He nodded, ’we both clearly knew each other motives. Her want to got stronger from his semen and him farming SP from her relentlessly. It isn’t a bad deal.
Plus contrary to Olivia who may have mood swings. He would only use Beatrix to farm SP"
Meanwhile, Beatrix kept staring at him for a long beat. He could see her weighing it, probably thinking he was the only person she had in this world right now.
Then she gritted her teeth and said, "Fine. Yes."
The moment both of them spoke, a thin thread of light snapped into place between their chests.
He felt it settle behind his ribs, cold and final. They both knew, without a doubt, that breaking the rules would kill them.
Beatrix let out a long breath. "I’m half succubus. Low bloodline.
I came to the human world to get revenge on my father. He killed my mother and ran here."
His eyes widened. "Okay... but why me?"
"Because you’re the chosen one," she said simply.
"And honestly? I wanted to get stronger off your semen so I could actually kill him."
He felt his mouth go dry. "How strong is he?"
"National-level awakener"
His heart started hammering. National level? That was above S-rank, the kind of hunters people called walking disasters.
He must’ve looked terrified because she laughed, short and bitter.
"Don’t worry. He’s got so many bastard sons he lost count years ago.
He doesn’t even know I exist."
He rubbed his face, trying to process everything. "And the scrolls?"
"They’re royal succubus relics. Whoever holds them has a direct tie to the royal family."
He nodded, rolled the scrolls up, and tucked them back into his backpack.
"Thanks for telling me. I’ll... figure this out."
She didn’t say anything else. Just walked him to the door and shut it behind him with a soft click.
He stepped out onto the street, the evening air cool against his face.
His mind was spinning, then he remembered Olivia face.
He needed to buy a skill that made his cum strengthen her, in this dangerous world. And keep his side of deal with Beatrix.
He filed it away in the back of his head so he wouldn’t forget.
He turned and walked the few blocks to Olivia’s house.
When he pushed the door open, she looked up from the couch and gave him this warm, easy smile that cut straight through the exhaustion of the whole damn day.
For the first time in hours, his shoulders actually loosened.
