Chapter 99: Found Out

Five of his clones stood around him in a spread formation, practicing the same ice abilities that he was using. Since they were copies of him with identical talents, they could also access the Frost Dragon abilities. They gained pain points from being hit by radiants while also gaining practical experience in forming and controlling ice weapons.

It was essentially a training session where everyone involved was getting hurt, but only one side could die permanently.

The wave kept coming. At one point the radiants began climbing on top of each other, using fallen bodies as stepping stones and crawling over their own kind to reach Vogue from above. They covered the ground and the walls of nearby buildings, swarming like insects.

Vogue was genuinely overwhelmed by the sheer mass of them.

"Ice Rain!" he roared.

The temperature in the surrounding area plummeted instantly. The sky above the intersection darkened as moisture in the air crystallized at an incredible rate. Thousands upon thousands of ice needles formed in the air above, each one sharp and perfectly formed, covering an area of roughly one city block.

In the next millisecond, they fell.

The sound was like a waterfall made of breaking glass as the ice needles rained down on the massive crowd of radiants. Each needle struck with enough force to pierce through flesh, and Vogue targeted his ability to direct them toward the chests of as many radiants as possible.

Hundreds of radiants became pin cushions in the span of three seconds, their bodies bristling with ice needles that had pierced directly through their hearts.

[Radiants Eliminated +247]

Vogue was genuinely stunned at the effectiveness of the ability. Ice Rain was far more powerful than he’d expected, especially against massed targets. His kill count jumped by nearly two hundred and fifty with a single use.

But the hundreds of freshly dead radiants were immediately climbed over by the following wave, and more came pouring in from other streets. The bodies became obstacles that the living ones simply scrambled over without hesitation.

Vogue commanded his clones and they activated Ice Rain simultaneously.

Five additional waves of ice needles fell from the sky in rapid succession, each one covering a different section of the surrounding streets.

Thousands of radiants dropped dead in moments, their bodies piling up in heaps that blocked the roads.

[Radiants Eliminated +1,847]

The kill count jumped enormously. Vogue’s energy was significantly depleted after using Ice Rain six times in a row, but thanks to his Infinite Stamina, he didn’t feel physically tired in the slightest. His muscles weren’t sore, his breathing wasn’t labored, and his legs didn’t ache.

He just couldn’t activate Ice Rain again for a while until his energy recovered.

His machete came out instead. His clones activated their full dragon forms and began wading through the remaining radiants, claws tearing and blades cutting. The creatures fought back ferociously, enhanced by forced evolution, ripping chunks of flesh from the clones with increasing strength.

The clones healed continuously while also taking damage continuously, each injury feeding pain points back to Vogue. It was brutal, grinding, bloody work.

This went on for more than five hours without pause.

The sound of battle attracted even more radiants from all over the neighborhood, waves of creatures responding to the noise like sharks responding to blood in water.

During the fourth hour, a particularly dangerous creature appeared. A massive Sabre-Tooth Tiger radiant leaped from a building rooftop, its body easily three meters at the shoulder. It was enormous, its muscles grotesquely overdeveloped, its teeth like curved swords. This was a Level 5 radiant—a Sun-Fiend that had evolved far beyond the basic creature it had once been.

It pounced directly at Vogue from above with enough force that its landing would have crushed him flat.

Vogue activated Shadow Step the instant he sensed the incoming attack. He stepped through the shadow beneath a nearby car and emerged from the shadow cast by a building wall fifteen meters away, completely dodging the impact.

The sabre-tooth tiger’s landing created a shockwave that cracked the asphalt in a perfect circle. The creature immediately looked around for its prey, yellow eyes blazing.

Vogue had no time to engage it properly. His energy was already largely depleted, and a creature of this grade would require his full attention to fight safely. He made a quick command to his clones.

All five clones activated Dragon Might and Dragon Form simultaneously as they converged on the sabre-tooth tiger from different directions. They moved with coordinated precision, coming in from angles that prevented the creature from focusing on just one target.

When all five were within range, activating self-explosion at the same moment.

"KABOOM! KABOOM! KABOOM! KABOOM! KABOOM!"

Five dragon-enhanced explosions detonated simultaneously, all of them centered on the Level 5 radiant. The combined blast created a massive fireball that consumed the creature completely. The shockwave killed hundreds of surrounding radiants caught in the blast radius.

[Level 5 Radiant: Sabre-Tooth Tiger Eliminated]

[Radiants Eliminated +89 (blast radius kills)]

Vogue created five new clones to replace the ones he’d lost and continued grinding.

Hours later, during a brief pause while waiting for a new wave to arrive, Vogue checked his kill count.

[Radiants Eliminated: 8,214/10,000]

He was over eighty percent of the way to Ultimate Evolution. Just under two thousand more kills stood between him and the most powerful form of evolution available in this trial.

He exhaled slowly, satisfied with his progress despite the exhaustion of hours of continuous combat.

But then his eyes suddenly throbbed with a sharp pain, and his chest clenched tightly. Vogue frowned and suddenly felt something was wrong. It was as though his was facing a Luminous beast in the flesh.

Vogue immediately looked upward and his face changed slightly.

He saw something floating in the skies and it turned out to be a young man.

The floating approximately one hundred meters above him in the sky with nothing underneath his feet to assist his flight, neither was there wings behind him. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

It was though gravity didn’t apply to him at all as he stood motionless in the sky, staring directly down at Vogue with indifference.
