Information to Mastery: Points Store System-Chapter 239: Henry’s Belief
The two people inside the study gazed towards the door, only to see that there was a young man entering. This was none other than Henry.
Today, he had just gone to Brenton city, to meet with Michael. He was happy to realize that Michael was his cousin. Unexpectedly, it seemed that Michael had a grudge against the Santos family.
As for what exactly had happened, Henry was clueless. But still, Henry had been told by Michael to come and ask his father about what had happened back then.
It was already clear to Henry that his uncle, Zachary, was already dead. And the reason behind his death was not illness or an accident, but something that was orchestrated by someone.
Henry immediately decided to rush back to Danvill city, in order to ask his grandfather to intervene in this matter. What Henry did not want to see was a fight erupting between Michael and his (Henry) own father.
But the moment that he came back, he thought, why not go confront his father directly? At least, his father would be able to give him the answers that he needed.
He needed to understand why this had happened, why his uncle ended up dead, despite having left the family. Should they not have tried to invite him back into the family?
Now, Michael had incredible capabilities out there. Unfortunately, it had nothing to do with the Santos family, which was something that made Henry feel quite pained.
With the ability that Michael had demonstrated, if he was part of the Santos family, just how bright would the Santos family’s future be?
So, at this moment, as Henry entered into the study, his face was full of determination, especially as he looked at his angry father.
"What did I tell you? Did I not tell you that you are supposed to knock on the door before you enter? Do you think that this is your room?" Newton asked as he glared at Henry.
Despite feeling his father’s anger, Henry did not flinch in the slightest. Instead, he just entered while closing the door behind him, has he approached the desk behind which Newton was seated.
"Father, I have a question. I would like you to be honest with me." Henry spoke.
Newton, who was already angry, was even more infuriated when his question was ignored by Henry. This was the first time that his son had disobeyed him like this.
The other times, he was always mischievous, but if he was chided, he would listen, even if he would repeat the same thing later on.
But now, not only did Henry not show him any respect, he also had an attitude while talking to him. This was something that Newton could not tolerate.
Bam!
He slammed his palm on the top of the desk as he stood up, his anger could not be held back any longer. He glared at Henry, as though he wanted to take action.
Henry on the other hand, upon seeing his father’s reaction, he suddenly remembered his father’s temperament. It seemed that he had used the wrong approach.
Thinking about this, he quickly said, "Dad, I know everything! I know everything regarding uncle Zachary!"
It was only then that the anger that was about to completely erupt in Newton calmed down. For a moment, Newton looked as though he had just been doused with cold water.
He looked at his son, disbelief painted on his face. He had not anticipated to hear such words from his son. For a moment, he was not sure how to react.
But, after taking a deep breath, he gazed deeply at Henry, deep into those blue eyes. And, he could see that Henry was not lying to him. And judging by the expression on Henry’s face, it seemed that there was more into what he had found out.
So, after taking a deep breath once again, he looked at Bob and said, "Bob, give us some space. I will call you back later after I am done here."
With the same indifferent expression on his face, Bob nodded before he turned around and left without a word.
With the door of the study being closed, only the father and son duo remained within the study. There was an extended duration of deafening silence, as the two of them looked at each other.
Finally, Newton rubbed his temples slightly as he sat back down on his seat. He gazed at Henry and asked, "Tell me, what do you know about Zachary. And, what do you want to confirm from me?"
"I met my younger cousin today. And, he told me about his situation. Uncle Zachary is dead, not recently, but several years ago." Henry revealed.
He went ahead and explained everything but Michael had told him, and after that, he gazed at his father, waiting for an explanation.
Newton’s expression continuously shifted as he listened to Henry’s narration. Even he himself had not anticipated something like this.
And when he heard that Michael had actually acquired the shares of Vanguard corporation, Newton was even more dumbfounded. At this moment, he began doubting himself.
Still, he took a deep breath, trying to stabilize his emotions. After that, he remained silent for quite a while, as though he was thinking of something.
It was only when Henry called out to him that he suddenly came back to his senses, gazing at his son.
"Actually, about the death of your uncle Zachary, I already knew about it. They accidentally died during a bank heist. I don’t know what the chances are, but it just happened that both Zachary and Cynthia were at the bank at that time.
They were among the victims that ended up being killed by that group of gangsters who were carrying out the robbery." Newton revealed.
It was just that, those words did not seem to quench Henry’s thirst for the truth. So, he continued looking for his father, waiting for him to say more.
But, when Newton saw his son’s expression, he was slightly puzzled. He asked in a confused tone, "What is it? You don’t believe what I say? You can investigate about that, I’m sure that you will be able to find about that incident."
"Dad, this does not make any sense. If it was true that Michael’s father died during the bank heist, then why is it that Michael hates us? It is clear, he doesn’t want to come back to the family.
I tried to invite him back, even promising him to give him all the benefits that I would receive in the next 5 years, but he was not tempted at all.
It is not just about the fact that he might not even care about the little benefits that I get within the family, but there is a bigger reason behind that. And, he told me to ask you about it.
Additionally, you always prevented me from investigating anything regarding uncle Zachary. Father, what are you hiding?" Henry gazed at his father as he expressed his doubts.
No matter what, Henry believed that his father might have been involved with the death of Henry’s parents. Otherwise, why would Michael claim that Henry should ask his father about that incident?
Additionally, just from the fact that Michael was able to hide his information, it was clear that he was able to easily get much information as well. So, how would he not be sure about the reason for the death of his father?
So, Henry was more inclined to believe that his father might be behind this. And the reason why he came to ask was simply because he wanted to understand the reason.
From his understanding of his father, even though he was cruel and vicious at times, at least, he had not shown any of that side to any member of the family. And, it was also a family rule that they could not fight against each other, especially not kill each other.
"What? You now think that I killed my own elder brother? Is that what is going through that mind of yours?
What do you take me for? Do you believe that just because of a little conflict, I would end up killing my own brother? Am I that stupid?" Newton seemed to be infuriated, as he suddenly asked while frowning.
"If that is not the case, why is it that you already know about the death of uncle Zachary, but you never let grandpa know about it?
Every time that I ask grandpa about uncle Zachary, he usually tells me that he doesn’t even know where he went to. He claimed that since uncle Zachary did not want anything to do with the family business, then he would allow him to live his own life.
How could he talk about someone who is already dead living their own life? Is he living in the underworld or something like that?" Henry was completely unconvinced.
Newton on the other hand took a deep breath upon hearing Henry’s words. It seemed that he would have revealed some things to his son.
Most of the things, he had been keeping to himself, but now, it seemed that it was time to begin revealing these things. After all, in the next few years, Henry would be required to take over the family business together with the other youngsters in the family.
At that time, it would be better for Henry to have already understood everything, before taking over. That way, they would avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings.
And as he thought of that, he looked at his son before he began speaking, "There are a few things that you need to know."
