Interspecies Trader-Chapter 250 – Sky Home

“I’m Suitain, rank 4 wind sorceress, as you can see.”

“And I’m Erack, rank 5 fire mage.”

The wind sorceress, a woman at Erin’s request, was a small fennec who looked quite fluffy. The fire mage was a man, a large elephant, towering over us. The children checked their potential new teachers while I took a step forward, answering their introductions with some from our side.

“Nice to meet you. This is Erin, and that’s Orun. They both want to become sorcerers. Aren here is the one aiming to become a mage.”

Just like the kids were staring at the adults, they did the same on their end. After a few seconds, the sorceress nodded.

“Erin and Aren are a bit old, and Orun is a bit young, but that’s not an issue. I’ll gladly teach them.”

“Same here. I’ll teach Aren. What are the exact terms?”

“Teaching will happen in the afternoon, if possible. There’s no final goal, so it’s a long-term contract.”

“Good. They’ll need to come every day for a couple of weeks. After that, they can just come two times a week.”

That made sense. Magic training was mostly something one did by oneself. Once the method was taught, there was no need for the teacher to be constantly behind the student’s back. Checking on them from time to time, answering potential questions, and correcting any misunderstandings was generally good enough.

“We’ll do that. How about your wages?”

Suitain spoke first.

“Since it’s only half a day, I’ll take fifteen silvers per day.”

“Twenty silvers for me.”

“Perfect. The children will come with the money every time.”

We chatted a bit more until the fire mage grew impatient.

“What about today? I can teach Aren right now if he wants to.”

“I can also teach Erin and Orun immediately.”

I turned toward the kids.

“What do you think?”

“Okay.”

“I want to learn.”

“Yes!”

“Good. Then, I’ll leave them to you. Here’s the money for today.”

I handed them their fee before they took the children. They went to quiet corners since they probably had a lot of theoretical talks to go through first. As for me, there was no need to watch over them. The lesson would end in the evening, which meant I had some time to do other things.

And I knew precisely what I wanted to do right now. I checked around the martial center, looking for Wico. Strangely, I didn’t see her anywhere. When I asked other members, I was told she went to the rooms at the back, which were used mostly as changing rooms. No one stopped me from going there, so I brazenly went to find Wico.

As I walked through the corridors and turned the first corner, I was suddenly assaulted by a feathery creature. I knew who she was, so I let her do her thing.

“Waahh! Kahahah!”

She shouted as if to scare me before laughing, happy with her surprise.

“Master, you scared me. I was looking for you.”

“I know. And I know that look on your face.”

“No need for extra talk, then.”

“And here you said no one ever came back to have sex with me! You’re proving yourself wrong!”

“I also missed master’s wet cloaca.”

“Kahahah! Everyone does! Say, want to go to a nice place?”

This didn’t sound like anything good, so I carefully queried.

“What nice place?”

“My place!”

“Your home, master?”

“Yep. Do you know where it is?”

“How could I know?”

“Come.”

She took my hand and flew through the corridors until she reached a door at the back of the building. She opened it and went outside with me. She then pointed at the sky.

“There!”

There were only three things in Geola’s sky. Wind mages using their magic to fly all over the place. Winged species doing exactly the same. And the floating buildings I had always been intrigued by.

“You live in one of these floating houses, master?”

“Yep! Can’t live on the ground, too boring.”

That made a lot of sense. If one global species wanted to live there, it would be the winged ones, who always wanted to be above others. I didn’t know much about these buildings in the sky either, except that they looked cool. I had also wondered what a world with such medieval technology would use to make the building float. Her proposal suited me perfectly fine, especially since I wouldn’t be completely dependent on her to come down in case of a problem, since I could always teleport away.

“I’ve always been curious about them. That sounds like a great proposal, master.”

“Great. Let’s go!”

Without waiting any further, she took me into her arms and flew to the sky at high speed. The wind brushed against my skin and her feathers, and even from my angle, I could see she was joyful about taking me to her place. She slalomed around many different sky buildings until she reached a small one, floating alone, close to the periphery.

The house itself was styled slightly strangely, at least from my perspective as a human. It was made of a lot of pointy bits, including the roof, while the global size of things was small, fitting for Wico’s build. It was mostly made from wood and stone and seemed quite cozy overall. At the bottom, a slight light shone, which I recognized as being a wind spell. There was no doubt that this spell was the one supporting the structure in the air.

While still in the air, Wico opened the door with one hand, holding me with the other, and flew inside, depositing me at the entrance. She then opened her arms wide and gave a big smile.

“Welcome to my home! Isn’t it nice?”

“It’s amazing, master. I’ve never been in a house floating in the sky before.”

“Kahahah! Okay, let me give you a tour of the place!”
