Khalifa: Queen in the Apocalypse-Chapter 240: Back to the Island
Who would say no? Not to mention the person asking was a beautiful woman, this had to do with their future!
"Now that we’ve gathered some of your expertise, we will plan around that to distribute the work force. Of course most of you will have to start clearing zombies outside in groups."
"What?"
"Pardon?"
"But we don’t want to die!"
She rolled her eyes. "Do I look like someone who will save you only to throw you out for a useless death?"
"..."
"You," Khalifa pointed at a random person.
"How did the gangsters run this place? How did you eat?"
"T-They sold everything using crystals Miss. We had to kill a few zombies even for just a bite to eat." And by ’bite’ it was meant literally.
The death rates were extremely high, too. All those who tried to fight had been killed, and their wills to rebel died with them.
"So you do get out for crystals."
"But so many of us die each time! Miss Khalifa, please reconsider!"
"Then how do you plan to eat?"
"We…"
"You’re all educated people. Not cavemen," she said. "There’s a certain order if you want a territory to work well."
Then, she paused, and the moment her eyebrows furrowed everyone felt the surroundings get colder.
"Were you expecting us to feed you?"
Immediately, the locals flinched and paled, suddenly fearing for their lives. "NO, Miss Khalifa!" they exclaimed, someone even covering his neck with his hand.
Seeing them well-behaved, she smiled. "Good. I thought you had an idiotic thought in your mind for a moment."
She then turned to the men, "We’ll build some farms in the area as well and other production," she started. "What do you think we should focus on? Where do we start?"
This started a whole new discussion, especially with the survivors who knew something about agriculture. Other industries like clothmaking, food processing, and the like also appeared, and people with some idea of the industries presented themselves to help.
Of course, there was still a need to confirm their skills, but it was unlikely someone would dare lie to Khalifa at this time.
Other topics soon popped up, the reward systems, the punishment systems, and the like. Anyway, it had all become a detailed discussion that lasted a few hours.
This way everyone was involved in the planning and would be much more invested in its execution. This was necessary especially now that the place didn’t have its own steward yet.
Other than looking for a steward, they would also need to get someone to install and help create farms, handle the water sources, and the like.
As it was now, the stocked items guarded by the late Ugo were almost gone, and soon these people would be hungry.
The target pricing was that the citizens would only need to kill a few zombies in order to feed themselves for the day. This was much better than how a whole party had to go out and lose a fraction in order to feed the few survivors for a meal.
After much discussion, Cauis decided to stay in the meantime. The men would be doing rotations, with them training a good steward, and also use the zombies here to keep shape and improve on their strengths.
Anyway, because they were doing one-on-one this week, he wouldn’t be able to touch Khalifa in the next few days. The distance and business should distract him.
After helping Cauis settle there and after a long goodbye, the group finally headed to the island.
The way to the island was through the port about half a kilometer away from the Port Base, which was easily just a couple of minutes of leisurely walk.
They easily dealt with the few zombies roaming around, and it almost felt like a date.
As they approached the sea, though, Sigmund couldn’t help but comment. "Are you sure your island is safe?"
It was a valid question. After all, the gateway base was compromised.
Kaize looked at him, offended. "The Port Base was just an afterthought, a convenient place to train since the island is too safe!"
Of course they had plenty of security on the island! Hugo—through Kaize, because he didn’t know Khalifa back then—had not just supplied them with guns and weapons, they also got a good security system installed by Hugo’s trusted installers.
Of course, if Hugo knew who he’d meet, he’d have come to set it up himself!
Anyway, they had an alarm system for those who were entering the island, through land or air, without the card.
If a hot weapon was detected, a blaring alarm and warning would sound. If the forces continued to move forward, then it would even shoot them down.
They also hired a few veterans there with good character, including their families. They would be living peacefully there and had seen all their strengths. They wouldn’t be stupid to betray that trust.
There was, really, not much to fear.

In any case, Kaize led them to their part of the ports. It was their private docking area he had leased for a year before the apocalypse, and this place was isolated from the rest and very secure.
He bought 5 boats, 2 of which were on the island at this time, leaving three speed boats to choose from. He was a little vain, so the ones he got were really handsome looking.
The boats here were fast and card operated, each of them having one. They chose a high-speed boat with comfortable sitting. It also had an autopilot mode, so Kaize only had to set up the coordinates and it’d do most of the work.
They relaxed for the next hour or so of traveling, enjoying the cool sea breeze while drinking cola in the boat cooler, and then cooled down by Khalifa’s ability.
Soon, they saw a beautiful island with many trees, clearings, terraced farms, and gorgeous buildings.
Khalifa and the others’ eyes brightened.
Finally here!
Finally back home.
