Legacy Of Fire: Chronicles Of The F-ranked Anomaly-Chapter 143: Trial Of Water Part 7: The Guardian Falls!
The team was looking around trying to see if they would get a clear picture of what was happening in front of them.
Steam seemed to be coming out of the water. Clearly, Darius was up to something, and from the looks of things, he wasn’t going to let Aya get away like that.
"What is that insolent mortal trying to do?!" Aya roars before diving into the pond, trying to push Darius out of the water but the moment she dived in.
It wasn’t our young warrior she met there, instead, she saw a knight holding a blazing hot sword at the centre of the pond’s depth.
"Who are you?!"
Aya roared, even before anything else happened she launched one of her tentacles. Trying to kill the knight, but once the tentacle reached the knight Aya couldn’t help but take it back.
The heat coming from the knight’s presence was what made the water boil not even magic.
"You...You’re Pryion," Her voice trembling, the once energized guardian was now pale and gripped with fear. "Champion of fire!"
Aya swam back, but then behind her, she saw Darius right in the corner of her eyes holding a blade plunging down into the deep part of the pond.
Aya was about to launch an attack on our white haired warrior but she felt something hold her back.
Turning she saw that Pryion had moved and from the looks of things, he was in no way happy.
"How bold of you to think that I will let you move an inch!" The knight unsheathed his blade, the immense heat from Isakador made it worse for Aya to even stay close to the water.
"Now, I want you to know what you are up against."
Pryion spoke telepathically, his flames making the water even hotter than it is.
"Flames Of Isakador: Fifth form!"
Pryion held Aya close, his hands erupting in pure raging fire.
"Scourge of hell!"
The entire pond began to rumble, and the heat intensified as Pryion landed a powerful slash on Aya.
The blow landed, sending her spiralling down into the pond where she was closer to Darius. She couldn’t shake off the pain from the divine blade Isakador.
"Argghhh!"
The hit from the blade had taken four of her tentacles. It was hotter than she had expected almost close to the heat as the surface of the sun.
She turned her attention back to Darius, but this time she spotted something. Something out of the ordinary, it was as if she was looking into the end.
The water close to Darius was warping around a small sphere in the warrior’s hand, and from that sphere, a bright crimson and jade aura was being emitted.
The heat wasn’t from this world, even with the attack still taking form it was clear that if it was to be released then it would be the end of the pond.
The heat wasn’t something compared to the normal that comes from fire, it was the heat of two dwarf suns put together still incomplete but utterly divine in all its form.
Darius felt immense pain holding up the attack, his body shaking from the power the sphere was emitting.
’Boy, are you trying to get yourself killed?!’ Azree quipped that the attack was tearing Darius up from the inside.
In pain, Darius grunted, he knew that holding the attack meant that he would get his hand blown off. "This has to end now!"
"Chaotic Flame: Exploding Sun – First Form..."
"I can’t let that mortal do anything, no no!" Aya surged forward, trying her best to get closer to him.
Darius thrust his hand forward, sending the attack straight for the depth of the pond.
"Prominence Heat!"
In an instant, the orb hit the pond floor and ignited.
A divine eruption blasted through the pond a wave of solar flame spiraling outward in concentric circles. The water misted away in an instant. The heat tore through the pond’s foundation, capable of burning through dimensions.
Aya let out a shriek of pain, as the mere heat from the impact burned off her remaining tentacles.
Darius was blown back, but luckily Pryion caught him before anything else happened.
"This power..." The knight was in awe, knowing that there was no possible way to even imagine that one attack was capable of this. "And the attack wasn’t even completed."
The vapor from the pond rushed up the dungeon, Theo and the others had sensed it coming, the rush of searing hot vapor, invisible but yet so consuming burning anything that dared to stand close.
Not wasting a second Theo took cover, protecting his allies as he watched the pond disappear right in front of him.
’What did he do?’
Theo whispered as he felt the entire pond shake, the dungeon rumbling like there was an earthquake happening within it.
Raya and Michael knew that there was no way for a normal SS-ranked warrior to pull something this powerful off.
"Here I thought I could hold my own against him, but the vice captain he is..." Michael swallowed hard, in utter shock at what had just unraveled in front of him.
"Amazing..." Raya completed the sentence for him. She was in shock too, How powerful was the man they called Vice Captain?
Inside the now-empty pond, Aya could be seen disfigured from the impact of the attack, burned all over her body trying to crawl away from Darius.
Pryion had shielded Darius from the hot vapor, it would have burnt his face off if he had left the young warrior there.
Darius was still trying to catch his breath, he had taken the risk of burning through almost 60% of his mana supply and he was still struggling to breathe.
[Mana- 180,000/300,000]
Darius chuckled as he staggered to walk close to Aya, Ve’xa on his shoulder.
"My gamble paid off."
’Your gamble? Your gamble?!’ Azree sounded pissed, like everyone else he thought that Darius was going to try and do things in a normal and quick way.
But instead, the young warrior went for a move he had learned while going through one of Slav’s elemental scrolls.
Pryion sheathed Isakador, walking close to Darius trying to understand what his master had in mind.
"Lord Darius, if you didn’t look for a way to lunch that attack then it would have been the end of you."
"I know Pryion, but if we left the water she would have been healing herself regardless of what we did."
Darius slowly walked to Aya, a cold expressionless look on his face.
Aya in shock began crawling back, her mana was fading away and her powers were useless without the pond.
"Oh, you think I didn’t notice Aya?" Darius sounded like an old pirate who had discovered his allies hiding gold from him.
"You kept getting stronger and when you were evolving the water was pushing us back, not you. So I wondered, why?"
Darius was right in front of Aya, and the guardian couldn’t move out of fear.
"This pond wasn’t just any water, it was water Thalryian gave to you. So you were at an advantage the whole time, but now your advantage is gone..."
Darius leaned forward looking at the guardian, the smile on his face made it hard to see if he was a villain or a hero.
Aya had nothing but pure hatred in her heart, She was looking at Darius and it was clear that all they heard of him— all the warnings of his growing power and witty brain wasn’t a joke.
"You imbecile!" She barked, Darius was sadly surprised.
Aya wasn’t going down without doing something, it was not over yet.
"You are no match for Lady Acier, she will cut you down and serve your head on The Great Thalryia’s altar!"
Slash!
Darius cut Aya down, his eyes empty and hollow.
"If I fall to Acier then it means that I don’t deserve my powers or so, I bear no grudge with you whatsoever. You were a powerful foe, but I didn’t even expect that I would be tangled with someone like you, rest now Guardian..."
A tear dropped from Aya’s eyes as she slowly embraced her end.
"Sister...I failed."
’Sister?’ Darius thought to himself, watching the dying guardian. It was then that he could feel it, the sadness coming from the corpse.
Aya went silent, her body on the floor as Darius stood over it for a while, he placed his hands together paying respect to her. He then turned yanking out one of her tentacles, and her core.
’Wait, wait!’ Azree roared, knowing what Darius was planning.
’Don’t tell me you plan to eat that?!’
Darius was looking at the core and the tentacle, he knew that Acier was an obstacle that would need him to do something that no one would think of.
"From what I saw in the scrolls, I need to absorb only a bit of the core to regulate the mutation my body would go through."
’Are you in any way insane?!’ Azree barked, knowing that there was something that would spell trouble.
’Don’t forget that your body is still a human body and if you do this...’
"Dont worry Azree," Darius smiled, he didn’t want anything to keep him from gaining the powers that he would need for a fight.
"Let’s leave tomorrow’s problems, for tomorrow’s us."
