Chapter 70: Raya Tegeshi

Darius had stepped out of the house in a hurry, he was trying to make his way to Hanzo’s workshop.

"Lena isn’t home, so it means she’s in Mr. Liu’s. I am sure she’s okay." After looking around, he was not going to waste time.

He took off at his top speed, reaching Hanzo’s workshop in no time. Looking up at the sign on the door that said closed, Darius scratched his head, wondering if it was meant to be closed at that time of the day.

"Maybe he closed early to head home? I don’t know what I am going to do now, and I need those gauntlets for the raid." Darius was looking at the door. He let out a sigh, turning to leave.

A voice called out, making Darius pause. "Excuse me, are you Mr. Winters?"

He turned to look at the person, a smile on his face, when he saw Hanzo at the door.

"Oi, Mr. Tegeshi, I came to see you, but the sign said closed." Darius smiled.

"Ah, so you are Mr. Winters, my goodness, did you change your looks?! You look even better than the last time I saw you." Hanzo was looking at Darius, he couldn’t help but notice how different the warrior looked.

Darius scratched his head, a goofy smile on his face. He knew it was due to the glowups he got from all the battles since Slav that made him look different.

"Well, I can say I got a bit of a makeover." He smiled. Hanzo was still astonished to see Darius’s looks.

"Sorry about the sign, my daughter was visiting and she doesn’t do well with people looking at her." Hanzo sounded down.

"Huh, you have a daughter? I didn’t know Mr. Tegeshi, what’s her name?" Darius smiled. He was looking at the man.

"Raya, Raya Tegeshi." Hanzo said in a calm voice, he was looking at Darius to see if he would know who he was talking about.

"Raya, what a nice name." Darius smiled. He tilted his head to look at Hanzo. "Say, why does she hate people looking at her? Is there anything wrong?"

Hanzo shook his head, he looked up. "She is different, she believes that all humans should be treated the same and not like gods, she simply hates the way people follow her around like she is some deity, just because she is an SS-ranked."

Darius was surprised to hear that there was a warrior like that. ’There are still warriors like that? I thought almost all of them were power hungry.’

"Eh, how does she work with her guild?" Darius wondered, looking at Hanzo. There was a chance she would find it hard to work with a guild.

"Hmm, she still goes on Solo raids. Why don’t you step in? I will attend to you." Hanzo smiled. He stepped aside, making way for Darius to enter. "Please come in, I will make sure I help you out."

"Thank you!" Darius had a smile on his face as he walked into the workshop. The moment he walked in, he laid eyes on a lady sitting on the counter, she had long brown hair covering her shoulders and pretty hazel eyes protected with a pair of blue glasses.

Darius was blown away by her beauty, he looked at her in pure admiration. The young lady turned to look at Darius, her expression looked sour, and it was like she didn’t want to see him.

"What in the world are you looking at?" She asked, looking at Darius, she thought he was going to come to her for an autograph or something like that.

Darius snapped out of the daze, he smiled as he looked at her. "Sorry, I was just surprised when I saw someone this pretty in here." He blurted out, it was not even how he expected to say it.

The lady was shocked to hear what Darius had to say, it was like he didn’t even care who she was.

"Eh, what are you some kind of weird observer?" She said, keeping her eyes on the young warrior.

"Nah, I’m just another man." Darius smiled. He walked into the shop as Hanzo followed him closely.

"Ah, sorry, Raya, this is Mr. Darius Winters, a good customer of mine. He is one of a kind, and get this, he is an F-ranked." Hanzo introduced Darius to his daughter.

"F-ranked? Him impossible." Raya was looking at Darius. There was no way she would believe he was an F-ranked; she could feel the absurd energy coming from him.

"I know, he looks like an S-rank, but I saw his ID and he is really an F-rank, but he is one extraordinary man." Hanzo smiled. He was looking at Darius, who had a warm expression on his face.

"Uhm, Mr. Hanzo, I went for a reassessment test. I am not an F-ranked; they gave me an SS-ranked anomaly level." The young warrior said with a calming tone, he didn’t notice the look on Hanzo’s face.

"SS-rank?! Wait, what?" Hanzo was looking at Darius. He didn’t believe it, but he was sure that Darius was ranked higher than an F-rank.

Raya was looking at Darius, she was looking at the warrior’s goofy smile, and it was like she was looking at something entirely different.

’I bet he is still the same cocky being all the other SS-ranks are, they are always have the same god complex thinking that all other humans should answer to them as superiors.’ Raya didn’t want to pay attention to Darius anymore after hearing he was an SS-rank.

"I went for a re-assessment test and they gave me the new rank. I came here to see if you would be able to give me new energy gauntlets. The old ones broke inside a dungeon," Darius had a little flashback, where Slav had crushed the gauntlets.

Hanzo was shocked, but he was not going to let Darius stand there for long.

"Is that so?!" Hanzo quickly moved to his counter, opened the toolbox, and pulled out the mana cores he used for the creation of energy gauntlets. "But we didn’t get the usual announcement about SS-ranks, is there any reason for that?"

"Yeah, I told them not to announce it. I don’t like people following me around. Besides, I have a younger sister; they might begin bugging her." Darius was rolling a screw on Tegeshi’s counter.

Raya blinked. That wasn’t the answer she expected. Most SS-ranks she’d met wouldn’t shut up about power or guild banners. She adjusted her glasses, but a part of her was curious; she thought he was going to say when he would be entering a guild, but he was trying to avoid people tailing him.

"Wow, almost the same reason as Raya here." Hanzo smiled. He began working on something. "So tell me, how many guild offers? I know they must have come to you in hundreds. Different guilds or Clans are trying to get you to join them."

"Nope, my friend and I are opening a guild. We are now a mercenary guild. He’s ranked S." Darius was still looking at the screw like a child with a new toy.

"So you’re opening a guild, I bet you intend to bring in strong warriors like you, and you are going to lead them to greater heights." Hanzo brought out another box.

Raya rolled her eyes. She turned away again. "I am sure he is going to gather all the fame there, why else would he want to lead a guild?"

She blurted out with hints of anger in her voice.

"Oi Raya, let’s hear what he has to say, maybe it might be different." Hanzo waved at his daughter so she wouldn’t say anything harsh to Darius.

"Different, how father?" She asked, looking at her father with a hint of anger in her voice. "I bet he would use it to gather fame and money, like they always do! Then forget that they are meant to be protectors of the people, not idols that people worship."

"That is not my reason," Darius said in a calm voice. It made Raya and Hanzo turn to him instantly.

"Huh? Then what is? Why do you want to lead a guild?" Raya asked, trying to see if she would get why he was trying to open a guild.

"First of all, I am not the one leading the guild. That role is for my friend, Theo. Second, we don’t care about money or any of that. We only want to help people who need it, and make sure that Dungeons don’t get stronger." Darius had a smile on his face.

Raya and Hanzo were shocked further; they didn’t believe what they were hearing. It was not like an SS-rank to be led by an S rank; it was always them leading.

"How? Why is your friend the leader, and why is it not you? You are clearly the stronger one." Hanzo was surprised.

Darius chuckled, raising his head, he looked at Tegeshi. "Mr. Hanzo, being the stronger one doesn’t mean I would be a good leader, a leader is one who can keep a calm head in situations that need it. And I might not be that kind of man when it is needed." Darius turned to Raya, the smile still on his face.

"So you see glasses, I am not like others. I am not bragging, but it is clear that I don’t want to be involved with other warriors; they are the absolute worst."

Raya was looking at the man, it was like he didn’t even care about anything that moved the other warriors.

"So what kind of guild do you want to form with your friend?" Hanzo asked, he was looking at Darius. He was curious to know what kind of guild the young warrior wanted to form.

Darius had a bigger smile on his face, he turned to Hanzo as he threw his hands in the air. "A guild where everyone is treated like family and we can hang out like equals and also eat!"

This answer took Hanzo and his daughter by surprise, they hadn’t expected him to say something so simple.

Raya was looking at our white haired warrior, his glowing smile and warm presence enchanted her.

’Who are you?’ Her eyes fixed on him as she wondered what was wrong with him.
