Legacy Of Fire: Chronicles Of The F-ranked Anomaly-Chapter 74: Slav’s Word
Darius stepped back, he was breathing heavily he was looking at Slav standing in front of him. He was not sure what was going to happen, but then there was a strange feeling he got from the beast in front of him.
Slav rolled his eyes as he turned to grab a scroll. "If you are going to stand there looking at me, then you should know that nothing is going to come out of it."
Hearing this, Darius snapped out of his daze; he was still in a defensive stance.
"How are you alive? I saw you die and decay!" Darius was still looking at him, there was nothing on his mind except the thought of Slav attacking him from nowhere.
Slav chuckled a bit, he turned to look at Darius. "Child, I am a divine beast and one who was close to attaining absolute divinity; killing me won’t work unless you destroy my core. So learn that now, or better yet, you absorb me completely and I become part of your core."
Slav smiled. He was looking at Darius, and he could see how much the warrior had grown.
"You have indeed grown into something marvelous, I see you wield Ve’xa now, so are you here to take Kurgon from me?" Slav was looking at Darius, who was still trying to put his head together on what was going on.
Darius, hearing him say something like that, made him look at him with more ferocity. "I am not here for anything like that."
"Huh? What brings you here then? I don’t have any other thing to tell you." Slav turned to the warrior, he was looking at him with a smile on his face.
"I have been getting visions of a dark, eerie place with four beings inside. They always said that their brother is coming for my powers, and every time after these visions, I would see you standing there with that messed-up smile on yours! So I want to know what those beings were and why they are tormenting me."
Darius was looking at Slav, he could see the look on his face change. It was now a more serious expression. Slav sat down on the floor and immediately began levitating.
"So the Abyss has moved. I didn’t know they would do this quickly." He stroked his chin, he looked at Darius with the same smile on his face. "So, child, you are worried about that? It is not something scary, so you shouldn’t worry much. You should be able to handle it."
"What are they?!" Darius didn’t want to be ignored, he was looking at Slav with anger in his heart. He knew yelling at the being won’t help him get anywhere, but he was stuck on the thought that something was happening. "Please, tell me what you know. I can face those things without knowing what they are."
Slav was looking at Darius, he didn’t say anything but looked at the boy. He let out a weakened sigh, he was not going to get rid of Darius easily.
"That dark, eerie place you saw was the Abyss, and the creatures you saw in there were the children of the abyss." Slav opened a scroll, and Darius saw four tiny beings appear like holograms.
"The abyss was designed to be a prison for the demon clan. When four demon brothers were cast into the abyss for their sins against their King, they were forgotten and locked away for decades, as they rot away in the abyss. But then none of the great divines could have imagined that the creatures would begin feeding on the despair coming from each realm."
Slav waved his hand, and the holograms changed into eerie-looking beasts. "They were four brothers, Deliri, Vertu, Beluri, and the firstborn of the Abyss Urus. They became so strong that they were able to control any being that entered the Abyss, and soon they grew so strong they could control legions, and they began entering realms, making lives unbearable for the beings residing there."
Darius was looking at this explanation, and he felt that there was no way for them to reach what he wanted to know.
"So how does that tie them to you?" Darius was growing impatient, he was looking at the Basilisk Sage as he floated in the air.
"Ah, why?" The basilisk sage stroked his chin, the smile still on his face. He then raised his hand, looking at Darius.
"Because, they broke free from the Abyss and they were trying to take the powers of chaos so they would be able to kill the demon king who locked them there." Slav lay down in mid-air with a smile on his face. "But then they ran into me, and I was sure to make life unbearable for them. I threw them into the Abyss, locking them. They were so terrified that they remained dormant, up until news of my death went round all four realms."
He turned to look at Darius, the smile still on his face. "All thanks to you."
Darius was looking at him, he didn’t know what he was going to say. Confused, having so many questions to ask, but he was going to stick to only a few.
"Is it because I have Ashran’s powers in me? Is that why I could see them?!"
Slav tilted his head, looking at Darius, the look on his face had changed. "If they could locate you that easily, then it means someone is helping them."
Darius’s eyes widened, hearing what Slav said made it clear that something was going on.
"So could it be the Dragon Kings trying to kill me before the remaining trials?" The young warrior was trying to see what Slav thought.
"It can’t be the Kings, they don’t interfere with the Abyss, only divine beings of Order and their disciples can even think of doing something like that. If Dragons go close to the Abyss, their essence would get corrupted. There had been only two Dragons to go close to the Abyss with no fear, and those were Dragon gods." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"So the gods are behind this? Why in the world would they..."
"Might not be the big shots, but then it might be that someone is pulling the strings." Slav sounded like he was calculating something. He looked at Darius, his eyes had a dead gaze in them. "I take it you don’t know the full story of your powers and who they belonged to. You’re awfully calm."
Darius was surprised, and he moved back a bit. "I know it belongs to Ashran, the Dragon god of chaos, and he is said to be an evil being."
"Pfft, those kings are still ranting out rubbish, aren’t they?!" Slav sounded irritated, he was not happy to hear what Darius had to say. "Let me guess, you are being trialed by the kings, and from what I feel, you took down one of the seven champions."
"Yes, I defeated Pryion." The young warrior replied, he was looking at Slav.
"Ah, one of the strongest amongst them. He stood his ground against me, even though he fell." Slav had a weird smile on his face.
Darius was looking at him, and he could see that even though he was not alive, Slav still had a terrifying presence. "I have one more question!"
Slav turned to him, raising a brow. "What might that be?"
Darius looked at him, his mind fixed on that one thing. His fists clenched, and his chest a bit tight, but he started asking. "Why did you let me live? You were clearly stronger than I, so why in the world did you get beaten?!"
There was silence; a needle dropping to the ground at that moment would be heard. The smile on Slav’s face grew wider, he turned upside down, then out of his mouth came the words.
"You want to know why?"
