Legacy Of Fire: Chronicles Of The F-ranked Anomaly-Chapter 75: Miscalculation?
"So you want to know why I let you love? I am shocked you are even asking something like that now." Slav turned back; he was still floating, and the entire place had a changed aura.
Darius was still cautious, it was not clear what Slav would do, so it was going to be a dangerous game even not being on guard.
"Ah, that’s right, you must have seen the Knight’s memories, now you are trying to find out what made me let you live!" Slav couldn’t contain himself, he held his stomach as he laughed at Darius.
The young warrior was looking at him, his reaction was not what he would have expected, but then. Slav was something he wouldn’t be able to predict, he could only watch and hope he wasn’t going to kill him.
"So are you going to tell me why?" He was looking at him, the look on the warrior’s eyes was enough to tell anyone that he was serious.
Slav stopped laughing, he slowly turned to look at Darius. Seeing the serious gaze on the warrior’s face, he knew there was no need to try to play games with him anymore.
"You want to know?" Slav faced Darius properly, still afloat. He stretched his hand and picked up a skull, looking at the hollow sockets of the bony structure in his hands.
"Like I told you when we were fighting, many people have come for that power you possess. And all of them I killed, I didn’t waste time to kill anyone of them who dared step in." He spoke calmly, his attention on the skull as he slowly shifted his gaze to Darius.
"You said that, but why didn’t you kill me like that?" Darius was looking at the Basilisk Sage, his anger was boiling. "Why did you have to leave me alive? There was nothing special."
"When I said that they came for the power, did I say that they had taken it?" Slav raised his brow, his words made Darius go silent.
The warrior was looking at the sage, his mind was going through many things, and he didn’t know what Slav was talking about.
"What do you mean?" He managed to blurt out.
Rolling his eyes, Slav threw the skull up. "The powers of chaos chose you, there was no way for me to have calculated that the Great One’s powers would choose you! A measly mortal who had little to no mana!"
Darius was still looking at him, trying to follow what he was saying.
"You did something that made Ashran’s soul give you that power; there was no way you were even getting it. I was sure that you would die in that temple the first time I saw you, but then you were blessed by the great one."
Slav landed on his feet. He walked closer to Darius, looking him in the eye. The warrior kept stepping back, not trying to be close to the basilisk sage.
"I was so fascinated to see that there was something like this going on, you were nothing special, yet he blessed you with his powers." Slav began laughing again, he was looking at Dairus, the look on the warrior’s face was a bit priceless.
"He gave his powers to a mortal boy, causing every great divine being in the cosmos to sit on the edge of their throne. I can tell you something, he is one heck of a troublemaker!" Slav fell to the floor, crouching as he laughed his eye out.
"I bet Aeres was twice as pissed when he found out that you were not as strong as me, but yet you managed to take down his champion. Not only that, you made him your knight!"
Darius was lost; he was looking at Slav, and all he could see was a being losing his mind in laughter.
"I was not even sure what it was that made him give you the power; the only thing about you that made me want to know more about you was the way you were able to break out of the chamber of despair like it was nothing to you." Slav began floating again, tilting his head, he stared at Darius.
"You are nothing but a mere miscalculation on my side, boy. I underestimated you, and it has cost me something I didn’t even know. Now those powers might end up in the wrong hands, I should have ended you the moment you stepped foot into my temple the second time."
Slav turned and began walking back to the place he stood, "Just leave, if you came here for something other than those answers, then you aren’t...."
A skull hit Slav on the back of the head, and he paused, looking at it. His eyes darkened as he turned to look at the warrior. He could see Darius boiling with pure rage, he touched the part of his head where the skull had hit.
"Did you just throw a skull on my head?"
"Miscalculation my ass! You lost to a miscalculation, and you want me to believe that? I saw you take on seven champions for fourteen days in that vision, and you never broke a sweat!" Darius threw another skull, Slav dodged it to be hit by a scroll on his forehead.
"Oi! Not funny!" He was looking at Darius, trying to avoid the things he was hurling at him.
"You stop shitting with me! There is no way you didn’t see me coming!" Darius kept throwing skulls and scrolls at Slav, the basilisk sage was getting more pissed off than before.
"Enough!" He yelled, making everything floating in that space fall to the floor. He was still looking at Darius. "Throw one more thing at me, I dare you! This might be a null dimension, I swear on the fates if you..."
Before he could finish talking another skull came flying towards his face, Darius was looking at him equally pissed that Slav was calling him a mere miscalculation.
"That tears it!" Slav dashed towards the warrior, his speed looked like a flicker of light to Darius. He showed up in front of Darius, kicking him in the groin, he made the warrior bend over.
"You think you could have beaten me if I went all out from the start? The mere air you breathed that day was mercy from me!" He kicked Darius back a few feet.
Our young warrior stood up, his eyes were filled with anger, but he was going to make sure that he would tell Slav that he was not a mistake.
"You were toying with me for so long, it made you forget that you were meant to kill me? Don’t make me laugh!" Darius yelled, but he failed to notice that his yell made the skulls that lay on the ground move a bit.
"Oh, please, the only good thing that day was breaking out of the chamber of despair!" Slav dashed for Darius again, but the warrior was ready for him. Darius blocked his kick, his eyes on the Basilisk Sage as he punched him in the face.
But Slav stopped his fist midway, looking at Darius. "You know, this should be considered rude! The way you are acting is so out of line!" He pulled the warrior in and headbutted him.
Darius fell to the ground, it was like he had gotten a concussion to his head. Before he was even able to do anything, Slav pulled him by the legs.
"You should have died the first day I set eyes on you!"
Darius sprang up and bit Slav’s hand, he sank his teeth so deep that it made the Basilisk Sage let him go.
"Oh, holy dwarven women! Hey, didn’t your mother teach you not to bite elders?!" Slav brought Darius close to his face before delivering a devastating slap to the warrior’s face.
Darius’s face turned red, and he stretched his hand, pulling Slav by the hair. "You are not telling me what I want to know! You didn’t let me go because you miscalculated something! Pryion said you were so scary even the gods of Order; whoever those douchebags are were afraid of you. Yet you were bested by a kid you are older than by over ten million years."
Slav was fighting to let his hair free from Darius’s grip, he wasn’t even sure what was going on anymore. He threw Darius away with a powerful force coming from his hands, his eyes on the warrior and it was showing his pissed off mood.
"I don’t know what that dumb knight told you, but if you think there is something I didn’t tell, why didn’t you read my scrolls?!" Slav leaped into the air, going to Darius. He landed a blow, but Darius had stepped away before he was going to be able to hit him. He turned to see Darius trying to get as far away from him as possible.
"You’re running?! See why I called you a miscalculation! You are running even when you are the stronger one in this dimension!" Slav sounded like an aunt who missed the morning bus.
Darius paused when he heard what Slav said, he turned to look at the sage. "What do you mean?"
"How foolish are you?" Slav walked to Darius, who was looking at the warrior. "We are inside my core, I am nothing but the hollow remains of powers, strong but not powerful enough to kill you."
Darius, seeing Slav coming close jumped back. He was still looking at him with confused eyes. "Why in the world are you telling me you are stronger than me?! I was pulling your hair moments ago."
Slav slapped his palm on his face, he looked at Darius with a look that could show the frustration of a man working as a customer service rep listening to an old lady complain for hours.
"You came here to learn two things: why I let you live and what those creatures were. I am now trying to see if my little miscalculation would be able to stand against the Children of the Abyss."
Standing there, Darius looked at the sage. His mind was blown at what he just heard. "What?"
