Legacy Of Fire: Chronicles Of The F-ranked Anomaly-Chapter 76: Unanswered Questions
Darius stood properly, he was looking at Slav. The fact that the sage told him that he was stronger in that dimension was disturbing him.
"I don’t know why you are trying to help me, but I don’t like the very idea of it!" He took a step back, he was filled with fear, and he didn’t know what Slav was trying to do.
Slav rolled his eyes, he began walking closer to our white haired warrior with an irritated look on his face.
"Why would I want to help? No reason, but you are the one who has my powers tied to you now and that means if you lose this fight I would lose it too and I dont want to go down in history as the one who lost to the slimy children of the Abyss, there is no way I would be able to live with myself in the afterlife!" He dashed for Darius, catching the warrior off guard, and he struck him down.
"You need to be alert all the time and make sure that there is no way for them to take you down!"
Darius almost fell on his back, springing up trying to hit Slav, but he was not fast enough to hit the sage.
"You have to think faster." Slav was quick on his feet, and it was like Darius was having a hard time spotting him or even keeping track of him. "There is no way for you to think of laying a finger on them if you can’t even handle facing me like this."
Darius paused, he was looking at Slav, his mind still putting one and one together while looking at the basilisk sage.
"Slav, tell me." He clenched his fists, looking at the beast, he was not sure what his answer was going to be. "Why are you helping me?"
Slav was looking at the man in front of him, who had no clear look on his face. Darius wondered if it was out of spite, but there was nothing really showing on his face.
"You want to know what is making me teach you how to handle this well?" He asked as he walked up to Darius, his eyes glaring at the young warrior. "Like I said, you are a miscalculation on my side."
Darius gritted his teeth when he heard Slav call him a miscalculation again, it was annoying for him to be called that.
"But it doesn’t mean you aren’t something strong," Slav added, he was right in front of Darius. But the warrior didn’t run, he was looking at Slav, gazing into his eyes. They felt like an endless void, he wasn’t going to be afraid of him anymore.
"Don’t think I am helping you because I like you or something, this is because I can’t stand to think that the being who absorbed my core lost to weak creatures like the children of the Abyss."
Darius was still looking at him, There was no way he could trust someone like Slav, not after he almost lost his life to him.
"So what do you gain from this? You are going to break out of here, aren’t you?!" Darius tried to kick Slav, but his attack was blocked.
Slav stared at him like he was dealing with some noisy child; he was already tired of everything that was happening in front of him.
"If you had managed to get through my scrolls, even if it was the first five, then you would know that there is no way for a being who hasn’t reached the greater divine level to come back from the dead, even if his core is still intact."
Darius felt lost, he didn’t know what was going on. He took a step back, his eyes still on the basilisk sage.
"So what is it you want?" He asked, and both of them stood there looking at each other. Slav grunted something before sitting down on the air, floating while looking at the warrior.
"There isn’t much to want when you are dead, you know, but I don’t want anything to happen to the idiot who took my powers. So before you even think of facing any of the Abyss cunts you need to train hard enough or this is going to be something you would lose." He was looking at Darius, and the look on his face felt empty. It didn’t look like he was going to do anything to make things hard for the warrior.
"There is still so much you need to learn, so much you need to uncover. Secrets about the world and the powers you wield. Humanity used to have places where the divine would keep secrets like this, but now it is overrun by things of no value." The Sage sat cross-legged on the air like it was a throne carved from reality itself.
Darius still was not following up on what Slav was trying to say. He wanted to understand some things, not only about the children of the Abyss, but he also wanted to know why he was being targeted so much. "Why don’t you tell me all you know then? There is no way you would want to hide all those secrets, you have to let some out." 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
The Basilisk Sage yawned. He turned to look at Darius. He pointed at the warrior before talking, "If I tell you everything now, then you might try to change the course of time itself. You aren’t ready, even if you should take down four more of the Dragon King’s champions, you need to know about what you are going to face. Don’t dive into a battle like that."
Darius was a bit shocked. He was looking at Slav, and for a moment, he could swear that the sage sounded like Azree. But then all Slav said was still troubling him; nothing was going to change the fact that he knew nothing of the troubles coming his way.
"I can’t use your scrolls until I reach Dragon Marshal, so I don’t know how you would want me to get through..."
"Then use my staff, Kurgon, half of it is in your hand, take the other half." Slav waved his hand, pointing at the warrior’s left hand. "It is what brought you here in the first place, there was no way for you to make it here."
Darius looked at his left hand, the serpentine dragon tattoo was glowing again, but this time it had a bright jade color.
"Huh, wait, so this tattoo is that staff of yours?!" He was looking at Slav, the sage was still floating, trying to ignore the warrior, but he knew it was not going to be easy.
He turned to look at the warrior, he could see that he had no idea that the thing in his hand was a weapon. He thought it was a tattoo, shaking his head, Slav turned to the other side.
"That thing is Kugon inside your body, there was no way for you to get the main staff like that, so it took form as that. If you haven’t noticed, it has its own mana and readings, but you haven’t seemed to notice. That in your left hand is the 9th divine weapon, Kurgon, staff of the fallen scholar."
Shocked, Darius stared at the sage; he was not sure if he was going to understand what was going on.
"Divine weapon? Like Ve’xa and Isakador?" The warrior asked, sounding determined to find out what was going on. "Tell me, so there are..."
"Yes, there are more divine weapons, but you will find all you need to know inside my scrolls." Slav turned to Darius, scratching his head as he looked at the warrior. "Listen now, you are in the middle of something huge and, funny enough, only a few beings want you alive so they would absorb your core. Since Ashran’s powers flow through your entire body, you are now the biggest target in all the realms. Whether you like it or not, you are going to be part of something bigger than you can imagine."
Darius swallowed hard; he could feel the seriousness in Slav’s voice, and he knew there was more going to come for him.
"What am I going to do? How am I going to be able to win?!" Darius was puzzled; his mind was not going to be at rest until he knew there was something he could do.
"Learn to control your growing powers, it is more important than anything that you learn how to control them. If not, it would destroy your body faster than any enemy." Slav was looking at the warrior. He looked up and smiled.
"I know I must have called you a miscalculation, but then, I also want you to show me why it is you won that fight and why Ashran chose you." The sage was looking at Darius.
Our young warrior, clenching his fists, walked closer, but then he noticed his hands and legs were fading. "Wait, what is happening?!"
He was confused, looking around as he tried to get close to Slav. "Are you doing this?"
"Your time here is up, go back to your world now," Slav said in a low tone.
Darius’s lower half was fading away, he tried to hold Slav. "Wait! There is so much more I need to know, and you need to help me!" He yelled, he was looking at Slav, trying to get the sage to say something.
The sage stretched his hand and flicked Darius’s forehead. "Go away, when the time is right, you will have gone through the necessary scrolls."
The force from the flick sent Darius backward; he landed on his back. He looked at his hand; it was now vanishing. He then looked up to see Slav smiling at him. He was not sure why, but it felt a bit odd.
"Now, go, dying warrior of chaos." The sage said with a smile still on his face.
