Legacy Of The Extra-Chapter 27: Mazekin Dimitri
Chapter 27 - Mazekin Dimitri
The building of Ravenspire Guildhall hummed with activity—the chatter of seasoned adventurers reviewing the work board to select their new tasks, the scribbling of pens on parchment. A few mazekins formed groups to scavenge deeper into the Mazes.
The hearth fire crackled and enveloped the whole hall with warmth, contrasting with the snowy outsides. It was currently the last month of the year—The date is 20th December of 3E 198. 11 days till the new year.
"Sigh... Next!" Elara shouted from her counter where many people stood in one single line. There were five such counters in the guild where more lines were formed. These lines were of people trying to register as Mazekins—People who do mercenary works and delve into mazes or dungeons.
Every year there was an abundance of such people applying for the Mazekin license but only a few passed the test or survived through their first year of being one. A job for a Mazekin might sound adventurous and in a few cases were glorified.
But the truth was the opposite—Sure, it was highly paying and adventurous but to experience such benefits one had to struggle in the wild. Mana Beasts of dangerous tiers make their home at the mazes and sometimes fellow mazekins would betray each other for the profits.
It was a risk-bearing and dangerous job. Which the young don't see at first.
But seeing such people was normal for Elara in her work as receptionist for the guild of Ravenspire for which she held the position for three years. It was an everyday occurrence. Well, in fact, the number of people was less these days due to the winter. Which provided the guild employees with some free time to relax.
-Creak.
The door of the guild opened slowly, the cold air outside infiltrated the premises and disappeared. Elara shifted her gaze towards the door and shouted, "Welcome to Ravenspire Gui—"
But her words stopped mid-sentence as her eyes met with that of the stranger. His amber eyes burned with a cold fire, and his light blue hair was tied in a low ponytail. A few strands of his hair shaped his sharp face.
His lean physique was covered by a normal black half-cloak along with some winter clothes that seemed warm. Everyone in the hall froze looking at the young man who looked very young maybe around his teens.
The girls blushed—Elara included.
And the men just stared at him with jealousy and few even admired his looks. The young man strode forward—his posture straight and confident. His face was expressionless ignoring all the bustling noise that his presence created.
"He looks so handsome..."
"Should we ask him to join our party?"
"Kyaah!"
The chatter continued in the back as the man approached Elara's counter ignoring the line of people. They did not stop only stared at him and the women in the lines were already mesmerised.
"Excuse me," He began his voice calm and polite, "Is this counter for issuing the Mazekin License?"
Elara did not respond her mind was in a daze staring at the young man before her.
"Excuse me," He called again waving his hands over her face. Pulling Elara out of her thoughts.
"Y-yes! W-welcome Sir, how can I h-help you?" Elara blurted her voice wavering. Her face tinged with a red hue.
"I wanted to issue a Mazekin License," He said curtly.
"A-ah, I-I see," She said pulling out a piece of paper and clicking her pen, "Y-your name, S-sir?"
"Dimitri Novikov," He said and turned around with a small smile tugging at his lips, "Am I cutting the line perhaps?"
That was it. That smile.
""""Kyaaaaaaaah!!""""
Dimitri tilted his head in confusion as he again turned around towards Elara, who was also out of it. "Ma'am, you wrote my name incorrectly,"
"Ah! I-I am sorry" She said bringing out another paper in a hurry.
After that, Elara somehow regained her composure and wrote down Dimitri's information as he narrated them.
His name was Dimitri Novikov.
Date of Birth: 16th October, 3E 181.
Origins: Rikas, Ashbourne Kingdom.
'He is quite young,' Elara sighed looking at his details—He was too young for her to court him.
'And he is from a neighbouring Kingdom—Ashbourne.'
"These details should be enough, Sir Dimitri," Elara began, "Now, you just need to give a small test."
"A small test?" Dimitri asked raising his eyebrow.
"Yes, in this test we will assess the elements you possess and your skills with your weapon of choice," She explained, "We will test your skills against one of our guild members assigned to you."
"I see. When will it take place?" Dimitri asked rubbing his chin.
"Tomorrow in the morning. In the training grounds of the guild," Elara smiled handing him a piece of paper, "This is your application ID. Without this, you won't be able to appear for the test. Please check the details once again."
Dimitri took the paper from her hands, slightly touching her hands which made a jolt run through Elara's spine.
'If only he was a bit older. Maybe at least 20?'
"Everything seems fine," Dimitri replied folding the piece of paper and putting it inside his storage ring, "Then I will see you tomorrow, Ms?"

"Elara—Only Elara is fine. No need for honorifics,"
"Okay, see you tomorrow Ms. Elara," He ignored her words and started making his way towards the exit. Making Elara frown a little as she watched Dimitri depart.

"Hah..." I exhaled as I exited the Guild building. It is sure exhausting when everybody just stares at you like you are some different being than them.
'But why were they acting like this?'
[Because you lo-]
The system whom I named Croft, interrupted before Dante could speak.
[Don't interrupt me, you—]
'Both of you shut the fuck up,' I interfered. These two would often fight with each other over something that I could care less about—My motive was to alter my fate not mess around with these two.
I started descending the stairs covered with snow. It was winter now—Three months had passed since my Military Training Under Micheal had started. Which was—Truth be told—Hell. Literal Hell.
Exercises not only increased in quantity but also in toughness. Micheal would spar with me regularly with swords, daggers and hands—straight-up, hands.
During these three months, I also increased my Legacy Resonance from Dormant to High Intermediate. It meant that my lightning was stronger than before and I could finally use some of the powers bestowed upon me.
And also...

I smiled looking at the blue screen while walking towards the Inn I had booked. It was a good progress for someone like me. Although I regret not improving the Blitzfeld swordsmanship but I think it would be better if I abandoned that style altogether.
My most noticeable change would be the improved proficiency of my Shadow magic and... My awakening of Noah's second legacy—Ashen Wings. Which I simply don't understand.
'Dante you know about this?'
[Hmm—Nope] He replied after thinking for a while.
'Croft?'
"Sigh..." I just looked forward and walked towards the Inn. I was not in Rasendorf or the Blitzfeld Duchy. I was in the Frostholm Duchy's border town—Clinkton. It was a town that fell near the forest of Blackthorne.
This is also the town that shared the border of the Germainia Empire with The Elven Continent's first kingdom—Eldorwen. And the Blackthorne forest is the place where the bandits who will kidnap Aeris reside.
'I had one day till her kidnapping happens and then I will save her.'
[After that?] Dante asked.
'Bind her to a contract where she can't betray me and make her the first member of the Covenant of Ashes.'
[That name you just came up with it, right?]
'Yes,'
