Legacy Of The Extra-Chapter 83: Transmigration??
Chapter 83 - Transmigration??
"So, what were you doing at the store?"
"Don't know... I wonder what a person does when they go to a store?"
"You are pretty funny when you talk. You know that?" She chuckled, covering her mouth with her hands.
"Don't hear that often."
If I wanted to explain my current situation in one word, it would be "Weird". Or at least that is how I feel talking to this girl.
Apparently, she is in the same department as me. It is weird seeing a girl in game design, but whatever. I don't remember her that clearly, although it is my fault. I barely talk with anyone or even remember the names of my classmates.
The two of us now walked alongside each other, the sound of our footsteps suppressed by the noise of other people and vehicles. The sun had disappeared from the sky, leaving the horizon with a shade of pink, orange and purple fading with blues.
"So..." She spoke up, her hand tucking a few strands of violet behind her ear. "Ethan, what was your last name again?"
"Walker," I replied, every conversation that happened between us was started by her. It was likely to reduce the awkward silence, but I prefer silence.
"Ethan Walker, huh?" She rubbed her chin, a small smile at her lips. "That is such a good name."
"Is that so?"
I never considered my name good, after all, it was given to me by my father, who left for the milk. Leaving behind both my mother and me, but that did not mean that he was a Saint.
I mean, who even believes that a father would be a saint when he leaves his own family?
After he lost his job during the economic crisis in 2008—Damn, that was long time ago. I was like 7 years old at that time.
Got distracted. Where was I? Yeah, during the crisis, he lost his job. He became a drunkard, downing bottles of alcohol and was abusive towards me and my mother.
I don't want to recall anything else.
"Hey, Ethan!" She yelled, waving her hand in front of my face. "Are you fine? You look kind of pale..." She said, her soft voice laced with a concerned edge.
Speaking of which... I did not even ask for her name.
"Hey," I called out to her. "I wanted to ask you something..."
"Sure, go ahead!" She beamed, her lips curving into a wide smile.
"What is your... name?"
Silence.
Her smile was frozen in place, but I could sense a shift in her demeanour as if something unbelievable had occurred according to her.
She tilted her head to the side. "You don't know my name?"
"Indeed. That is why I asked for it."
"You do know that we were in a group presentation once?"
"Ah, Reina, right?"
"Her name was Rebecca, not Reina. And no, I am not her."
I could feel something rising, and it was definitely smoke that came out of her head. I instinctively took a step back, creating distance between us. "So, who are you?" I added some more fuel alongside the oil.
She sighed, the steam that rose from her head disappearing. "I am Veronica Lehmann, a fellow student in the computer science department."
"Ah, I remember now..."
I didn't.
"You were with me in the group presentation."
I repeated the same information she had relayed to me. That is all I could ever do, actually. I learned it from my very little experience with people.
After that conversation, time passed like the wind. The hues in the sky were already darkening. I had walked with her to the girls' dorms of the university.
She even invited me to have some tea, which I kindly refused. I don't want to burden myself with more talking. My social battery was already running out.
"Then, I will see you in class tomorrow!" She shouted, waving her hands at me. The other girls around the area stared back at me and then at her.
This will create some rumours...
I waved my hands back at her with an awkward curving of my lips. I walked away from the entrance of the dorm. My mind still heavy with questions, she—Veronica asked.
"She talks a bit too much..." I mumbled, looking up at the dark sky. "I could go for a cigarette right now... You know what screw it, I should quit it."
Thinking back about the dream—It clearly changed something within me. I feel more energetic than usual. And I don't know... It feels a little lonely without two voices fighting in my head.
I still wonder... Was it all really a dream?
It seems like it now. I should've died today at the crossing. I should've never met Veronica and have a nice little one-sided chat with her.
And the last thing I saw from that dream.
That Creature. I don't know what it is, and I guess I will never know unless I sleep aga—
*THY WRATH SHALL GUIDE YOU, HEIR OF ASHES*
"Huh?" I stumbled back. That voice... It belonged to that monster. And then everything shifted.
The world around now was draped in crimson. The red hues were spreading everywhere like a drop of paint would on a canvas.
"What the hell is happening?!" I panicked. The ground below trembled as if an earthquake had started. Cracks started opening up on the streets and the buildings.
[No....ah]
"Dante?! Is that you?! Answer me! DAAANTE!"
I screamed at the top of my lungs, straining my chords. And then he came before me.
Not Dante.
But someone else.
"He won't hear you here." A deep voice laced with a cold, demonic feel that made a shiver run down my spine.
It was something like a mist of black smoke taking the shape of a human in front of me. No face could be made out of that, but his one visible feature was his eyes.
Blood red marked with narrow slits.
"W-who are you?" I stammered out, backing away from the misty shadow.
"I am..." He paused. His crimson irises narrowed at me. "N—"
But before he could form his words, the world broke with cracks appearing in the sky and something—something heavy hit me right in the head, making me lose my sight and consciousness.

[NOAH!]
[NOAH!]
[I did not do anything!]
Dante? Croft?
[Noah!]
My eyes opened to a white ceiling, my back pressed against a soft surface. Where am I?
[In the dorm.] Dante replied.
I sat up in the bed, eyes sweeping the room. The faint light of the moon passed through the thin veils of the window, casting a soft glow over the room.
Who brought me here?

A/N: So, for starters. The Demon of Purity and the Fiend are not the same. They are different characters. And second, the assignments are fucking killing me.
