Chapter 52 - How To Deal With Slander

Kazuma and Masako sat in their cozy home office, surrounded by concept art, sticky notes, and a whiteboard full of game ideas. The topic of their next project had been a major debate, but after hours of discussion, they finally landed on something fresh—a slice-of-life game.

"A game about living a peaceful life, huh?" Kazuma leaned back in his chair, stretching his arms. "Not gonna lie, it's a big shift from our usual action-packed titles."

Masako smiled, golden eyes gleaming with excitement. "Exactly! But that's what makes it special. If we want to make it truly immersive, we need to make sure every in-game activity feels real."

Kazuma chuckled. "Which means...?"

Masako tapped her chin, looking playful. "Which means we have to go out and do all of these activities ourselves to make them as accurate as possible!"

He sighed dramatically. "I knew you'd say that. Fine, fine. But first, let me grab us some coffee. Need anything else, sweetie?"

Masako grinned. "Just hurry back, dear."

With that, Kazuma threw on his jacket and stepped out, making his way to a local café. The sun shone brightly overhead as he placed the order, waiting patiently before grabbing the drinks and heading back home.

As he walked down the street, balancing the cups in his hands, he passed by a small group of teenage girls sitting on a bench. He didn't pay them any mind, too focused on getting back to Masako before the coffee got cold.

But suddenly—

"Hey, you creep!"

Kazuma blinked.

Another voice chimed in, louder this time. "Yeah, what the hell are you staring at? Were you looking at our panties?!"

His eyes widened as he froze in place, turning toward the two teenage girls who were glaring daggers at him.

"Huh?" Kazuma uttered, completely confused.

The first girl, a short one with twin tails, huffed and crossed her arms. "Don't play dumb! We saw you looking!"

The second girl, slightly taller, pointed an accusing finger at him. "Yeah! You perv! What kind of grown man just stares at young girls like that?!"

Kazuma's eye twitched. "Excuse me? I was literally just walking home—"

Before he could finish, murmurs started to ripple through the crowd.

"Did that guy really do that...?"

"Ew, that's disgusting."

"What a creep..."

Kazuma groaned internally as more people began to stare, their judgmental gazes burning into him.

"Oh, come on! How the hell did I get caught up in one of these situations?"

Just when things were getting worse, a familiar voice sliced through the air—sharp and deadly.

"What the hell do you think you're saying about my husband?"

The crowd turned in unison, and standing there, golden eyes blazing with fury, was Masako.

She strode forward, her presence alone demanding attention. Her brown skin glowed under the sunlight, her long hair flowing behind her, and her curvy figure was accentuated by the casual yet elegant outfit she wore.

The teenage girls flinched, their smug expressions crumbling.

Masako crossed her arms, her tone dripping with disdain. "Are you seriously trying to slander my husband? Kazuma, who literally went out just to get me coffee?"

"B-But—" the twin-tailed girl stammered, looking away.

Masako narrowed her eyes. "You accuse him of something disgusting with no proof? You better be ready to deal with the consequences."

The taller girl clenched her fists. "W-We were just—!"

"You were just lying." Masako's voice was colder now, her beautiful face unreadable.

The surrounding people, who had been whispering moments ago, started to murmur again—but this time, in Kazuma's favor.

"Wait... isn't that Kazuma's wife?"

"Holy crap, she's gorgeous."

"There's no way he'd ever look at random teenagers when that is his wife."

"Yeah, what kind of guy would even dare when he's got someone like her?"

Kazuma sighed in relief as the tide quickly turned in his favor.

The teenage girls turned beet red, looking humiliated. They glanced between Kazuma and Masako before mumbling something under their breath and scurrying away, too embarrassed to continue their act.

Masako let out a small "Hmph" before turning to Kazuma.

"Sweetie, are you okay?" she asked, her expression softening.

Kazuma exhaled, running a hand through his hair. "Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks for saving me."

Masako smirked. "You better be. No one gets to slander my dear husband and get away with it."

Kazuma chuckled, stepping closer and handing her the coffee. "Here, your royal highness. Your coffee, as promised."

Masako took it with a bright smile before leaning in, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek. "Best husband ever."

Kazuma sighed dramatically. "I swear, if I wasn't already married to you, I'd be falling in love all over again."

Masako giggled. "Good. You should be."

With the incident behind them, the couple strolled back home, hand in hand, completely unfazed by the day's chaos.

After all, as long as they had each other, nothing could ever bring them down.
