Lost Origins: SS Ranked Awakening-Chapter 125: Enhancement??
"I guess some people just don’t learn!"
Lucian’s cold voice rang out and his black flames ignited around him.
Almost immediately, the purple shade on his arms vanished and he was without poison again.
The masked opponent’s eyes narrowed seeing how easily Lucian gad dealt with his poison, but that didn’t stop him as he approached the detective who had coated his arms in flames.
"Hmm?!"
The man let out a confused sound upon closing on him.
The flames were neither cold or hot. If he wasn’t seeing it with his eyes, he couldn’t tell that there were flames burning in front of him, yet he had seen Lucian use those flames to incinerate the bodies of the men he had killed earlier.
’How is that possible??’
’That only makes him more interesting. I have to bring him back. I’m sure they’ll be more than estactic if I manage to capture him alive, if I can’t? No difference. I’ll be rewarded either ways!’
’I can’t wait to see what I’ll get this ti–’
"Aren’t you a little too foolish?"
Lucian’s cold voice cut through his thoughts like a sharp knife and his eyes widened seeing the cold blue eyes of the detective right in front of him, staring into his soul.
Before he could think of reacting, he felt something hard crash into his stomach and his eyes widened almost popping out from the pain.
He spat out a mouthful of blood beneath his mask as he hoped to gain some distance with the hit he had taken, but Lucian didn’t seem to agree with this as he followed his crashing figure like a shadow, throwing punch after punch without giving him any chance to react.
’I have to get out of this!’
"Ughhh!"
The masked man thought desperately, as he crashed into the floor several times and in a desperate attempt, he activated his ability again, releasing a purple mist around him, which shrouded him from the eyes of his opponent.
"Hmm!!"
Lucian’s eyes narrowed as he cut his chase mid way and backed away, giving some space between him and the purple mist that spread out of no where. It had even started to spread slowly towards him.
"What’s this?"
"Tssssss!"
Lucian muttered, slowly taking his gloved hand into the mist and he retracted it the moment he made contact, staring at the part of the glove that was no more and his skin beneath which looked like it had been dipped in acid.
Not only did the mist posses strong corrosive properties, the poison power it possessed was several times stronger than the one he used at the beginning of the fight.
Even with his flames, it took quite a while and some effort to burn the toxin out of his body.
"So even you had something up your sleeve."
Lucain said, looking into the fog.
"What now? Don’t tell me you ran away!"
Lucian continued when he didn’t get a response to his previous statement.
"Don’t get cocky, bastard! You only got lucky that I happed to get carried away, thats not gonna happen again. And there’s no way I’m leaving without my reward ticket, you!"
A rough voice came from within the mist as a pair of eerie green eyes shown through the purple mist, locking onto Lucian.
"Pathetic Creature"
Lucian muttered dodging the sudden tendril that had shot out from within the mist.
It seemed that the mist wasn’t just a place for the masked man to hide and play defense, he could also attack from within.
Lucian spent the next few moments dodging the attacks of the smoke tendrils which only got more complex and complicated with time.
This mode of attack put Lucian on the defensive, giving the masked man more and more confidence.
"You arrogant piece of shit. You’re only good when it comes to close combat!"
His voice rang out from within the purple smoke that had almost spread to end of the street.
"It’s quite pointless if you’re trying to ware me out!"
Lucian said, unbothered, but the man didn’t heed his words as he kept of increasing the rate of his attacks, the speed at which the smoke spread increasing substance too.
"Tch! Why won’t you just go down already. I’m almost out of energy, just get into the fog already!!"
He muttered, an annoyed expression appearing beneath his mask.
He had manged to prevent Lucain from getting close to him, but that came at the cost of his energy.
The purple, poisonous fog drained his energy at an insane rate. He wasn’t sure if he could maintain this state for another round. Lucian was just too slippery to get caught by the tendrils.
And just as if hit by some divine blessing, Lucian stepped into the fog of his own accord, the purple color of the fog leaving him blind and the poison swirled turbulently eating through his cloak, trying to drill itself into his body.
"The hell?"
The masked man exclaimed in confusion.
As the source of the fog, he had complete control over it and could easily sense the movements and actions of those who stepped I to the fog.
The had controlled the fog to rush towards Lucian the moment he stepped in.
He could feel as the crossive properties of the fog burned through his clothes, making contact with his skin.
At that moment, his mind went at ease. Once the poison made contact with his skin, there was no escape. His fall was certain.
But to his surprise, a force appread out of nowhere, shrouding Lucian’s figure, eating away at the fog that tried to force his way through.
Color drained from beneath the man’s masked face as he could feel that this force wasn’t just preventing his poison from attacking Lucian. It was devouring the fog, using it to feed its strength, becoming stronger each second it gobbled up his energy.
Feeling his energy leaving his body an an increasingly rapid rate, the man changed his methods, recalling the mist as fast as he could.
"Ahhhhh!"
His inhaled deeply with his mouth open, the fog swirling and disappearing into his mouth, absorbed into his body and he underwent another change.
The visble parts of his body had taken on a purple shade as small wisps of smoke escaped through his nostrils and the edges of his mouth.
Stretching his limbs, he looked at Lucian with hate filled eyes. He had hurriedly reabsorbed all of the fog, but he had still lost about one third of the original volume.
Lucian on the other hand, narrowed his eyes, the flames around him replacing his cloak that had been completely corroded from his contact with the fog.
This wasn’t the first time he had dealt with someone who relied on long distance tactics to keep him at bay.
He had learned from the last fight and there was no way he was going go put himself through that again.
He looked up, attracted by the hate filled gaze of the masked man. His new appreance made him feel like he had something else to give, but Lucian was after something more than just fighting.
"Hey, you! Why don’t you just tell me who is that’s behind you and what exactly is going on, and I’ll consider not killing you!"
Lucain offered the man who burst into laughter almost immediately.
"Hahahahehehe. Foolish bastard, just wait till I hand over to the docs. I’m going to enjoy watching you get your body split open while they replace your internal organs with that of the shitty beasts."
"And trust me, I’m going to enjoy every second of your pain filled expressions until you become brain dead from the torture!"
The man said, pulling out somethings from behind him, shoving it into his mouth.
The moment he did, Lucain felt his opponent’s aura fluctuate wildly as a series of chnages started to happen to the man who curled up, looking like he was in pain.
"Arghhhhhhh!!!"
"What’s that? Enhancement pills? No, this is different, enhancement pills don’t do that!"
Lucian’s eyes narrowed to thin slits as he watched the body of the man increase in side, growing up to almost 3 meters, surpassing the height of the monster he had killed at the beginning of the fight.
His body increased in height and size, becoming more muscular and bulky, the mask on his face had shattered during the transformation revealing his appreance which right now, was not much different from that of a starved beast.
"You’re dead!!!"
The man said roughly, running towards Lucian.
’He can still talk!’
Lucian noted. It appread that compared to the monster from earlier, he manged to retain most of his intelligence and his energy levels had also shot through the roof, surpassing what it was at the beginning of the fight.
He had gone from being on his last foot to beyond his peak form at the beginning of the fight.
"These rats are getting more and more unique with their methods!"
Lucian muttered, his cloak of flames wrapping around his body completely in a unique manner and his figure flashed silently, just for a moment, the blink of an eye, a spilt second and he was gone, appearing directly in front of the purple creature who was pressing forward.
