Chapter 130: Soul flame

He needed to be fast. The moment he revealed himself, he was going to attract the attention of those he had sensed earlier and alert the whole base.

He had to destroy everything here, before he engaged in a fight with the ones he had been avoiding for a while. It would’ve been better if he had a distraction in place.

’He should be here anytime soon!’

Lucian held the urge to burn the place down immediately, somethings still had to fall into place.

Luckily, he didn’t have to wait much longer. His new friend from Zeryl showed up not long after, escorted by a few guards, and he was dropped on the floor beside the other scared humans.

"You’re here!"

Lucian muttered, his voice only heard by the figure who smiled with his head bent low.

"You’re here?"

The man asked, a tinge of amusement in his voice.

"Yeah, it’s time. I need a distraction!"

"I don’t think I’ve ever waited so long to hear something like this!"

He replied to Lucian with his powers and finally raised his head, looking in Lucian’s direction.

"Get ready!"

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!"

CRACK! CRACK!!

"THE HELL IS THAT?!!"

"HELP!!"

Lucian didn’t know what he meant until he heard him let out the most devastating scream he had ever heard in his life, protecting his bleeding ears with the palms of his hand.

The sonic scream instantly sent the place into chaos. Several researchers falling to the ground with blood leaking from their ears and eyes.

Cracks appeared on the glass tubes as they shattered completely, the humans and modified monsters all spilling out.

Those beside him though, the regular humans who were next to be experimented on, weren’t so lucky as they died instantly from the proximity to the source.

Their bare bodies laid limp and lifeless on the floor, saving Lucian the stress of eliminating them himself.

It might seem wrong, but Lucian didn’t, for a single minute have the idea to rescue any one here.

That wasn’t his responsibility, starving rats and fat rats were rats all the same. His mission was to collect as much key information as he could and destroy anything left.

Feeling several auras scan over him and lock onto the Zeryl man down there who had ripped through his restraints like they were never there in the first place.

He had found his own way of breaking through them.

Several figures cloaked in black appeared seconds later, rushing towards the guy who enthusiastically welcomed them with a large smile on his face and Lucian made his move at that moment.

The whole lab space had fallen into chaos, the modified lab products at the other end of the lab that had been released were slowly waking up, jumping at the closest peice of flesh they could see, and that just happened to be the researchers on the floor who were still recovering from the shock.

"Sigh!"

The researchers on the floor who had just witnessed their colleagues getting bloodily devoured, thanked their stars when they saw a black flame ignite on the bodies of the monsters and turn them into ashes.

They thought help had arrived when the body of Lucian draped in a black cloak appeared in front of them.

"You’re next."

His cold voice entered their ears and their eyes constricted in fear, seeing his outstretched hand in their direction.

The last thing they saw clearly, before their vision was filled with nothing but red. Several blood vessel popped in their eyes as they felt a pain beyond just being burnt alive.

"You might want to speed up!"

The pained voice of his partner reached his ears as he struggled to keep his life against the six cloaked figures.

Lucian threw him a glance and noticed and noticed how bad he was keeping up. If he didn’t speed up, he was going to get hurt pretty bad or even die.

<Restrictions—level 2>

Lucian muttered while tapping some parts of his body and making some hand signs.

Almost immediately, the fight at the other side paused, sensing the heavy aura that had just appeared in the room.

For the first time, Lucian’s dark flame gave off a special feel. The seven fighter all shivered in concealed fright, his prison friend included. There was something very unnerving about that black flame of his.

"Soul flame, Converge!"

Lucian’s voice was as sharp as steel, and the flames converged into the palm of his hand to form a spherical ball.

"...."

The terror the seven men felt increased seeing that small ball the size of a fist between Lucian’s palm.

"This should do it?"

Lucian muttered, wondering if he had gone overboard, but he didn’t have anytime to think it through sighting the approach of the six cloaked men from the side of his eyes.

BOOM!

The ground shattered and the whole facility shook for a moment, the shockwave traveling through the ground and walls, alerting every single person present.

"Cough, cough!. Maybe that was a little too much!"

Lucian mentioned, dusting the rubble off his cloak.

The explosion had been far more than he expected. The six men who had been approaching him were knocked back by the force of the explosion.

Looking around at the fried pieces of equipment, a faint light of satisfaction appeared in his eyes. His goal had been accomplished, but the work wasn’t over yet.

Dark and suffocating auras shot out from the bodies of the six men who had gotten back on their feet.

’That drug!’

Lucian easily spotted the reason behind their drastic change in aura, very similar to the one E6 went through.

The change was even more pronounced, their aura multiplying by several levels to the point where Lucian started to feel threatened.

"Can you handle this, or you need to back out?"

He asked the Zerydl sound user who had been forgotten at this point.

"Don’t joke with me. I have some scores to settle with some of these guys. Count me in!"

He jumped back to his feet, shaking off the dust on his body.

"Good!"

Lucian muttered, his meteor hammer appearing in his hands.

"We should focus on the flame user. You can handle the sound man!"

The distorted voice of one of the six men came out from beneath the cloak and they separated, four of them heading for Lucian while the remaining two stayed back to deal with the sound man as they called him.

"Soul flame, Combustion!"

Lucian’s voice was grim as he met them in their advcance, the weight of his hammer descending like a mountain.

BOOM!

"Tsss!"

One of them was unfortunate enough to try blocking the weapon, but the flames on the hammer exploded upon contact, sending him back by a few meters.

Noting the exchange between their man and Lucian, the other three pulled off their cloaks simultaneously, throwing them in Lucian’s direction, blinding the detective.

"Hmm!!"

Lucian’s senses rang in alarm and he used the chain of his weapon to block, wrapping around the length of whatever sought to hurt him.

BANG!!

Unfortunately, he wasn’t facing one opponent, but four! Blocking the attack of one left him with three more to deal with, and Lucian had been unable to deal with it.

A fist landed on his stomach and he could feel his body getting lifted up, but another strike from above to the back of his head sent him back down. This was accompanied with his body being raised by the head and another punch to the gut, but this time, he could feel something peirce through him, poking out the back of his body.

"Cough!"

Lucian coughed a mouthful of blood, having been assaulted from all directions.

Now that he had been impaled, his eyes flashed around assessing his situation.

The men were all donning masks which protected their faces, and one of them was right in front of him, with a bone protruding from his forearm into his gut.

’Bone manipulation!’

Lucian identified the ability. The chains of his weapon was still wrapped around one of the protrusions from his body.

BANG! CRACK!!

A knee sent his face flying to the side as he felt the bone spike slide out of him.

Almost immediately, his body burst with energy, rolling to the side and dodging the stomps that would have cracked his skull.

Even then, his retreat came at a price. A loud crack came from his right arm which held onto his weapon.

Getting onto his feet, Lucian’s calm eyes went over his broken arm and straight to the weapon which had been thrown to the side, before locking eyes with the four men who prepared for another round.

This time though, he was one step ahead of them as several wisps of flames appeared floating in front of each of them.

"What is—"

BOOM!!

The masked man didn’t get the chance to finish his words as the flames all exploded in their faces creating a huge cloud of dust.

Tap! Tap!! Tap!!! Tap!!!!

While within the smoke, they all felt a small tap on their body, it touched them faster than they could all react, but when the flames died down, they all appeared unscathed by the explosion and Lucian was in the same spot with his weapon in hand.

"What was that for?!"

One of them asked with narrowed eyes. The attacks had little to no damage on them, but there was still something within those flames which put them on guard.

"You really don’t learn do you?"

"Combust!"

Lucian’s cold voice rang, filled with unshaken confidence.
