Lost Origins: SS Ranked Awakening-Chapter 131: Ignite
At that moment, a shiver went through their bodies as several black flame marks appeared on their bodies where they felt the tap earlier.
Before the four men could fully process what the meaning of those marks, they heated up, exploding upon Lucian’s command.
"Ahhh!"
Unlike before, they weren’t immune to the effects of the explosion which took away chunks of their flesh, even managing to blast a whole arm off one of them.
"What are you doing?? Why hasn’t he been stopped!"
The one who had his arm blasted off shouted at his comrade in rage, but all he got in return was silence, but Lucian took pity and explained to him what he was missing.
"Of course he failed to stop me. His strings can’t handle my flames. You’ll have to so more if you plan on putting me down!"
POP!
He popped his arm back into place and left his the rest to his healing factor.
’The arm should be ready to use after a few swings!’
He contemplated, swinging his arm around.
The aura around one of the masked men darkened after he stated why his ability was totally useless against Lucian’s flames.
"No matter! You are still going to fall at our hands. D-15!"
The masked man’s voice seemed resolute as he called out a name to which another responded, moving forward at a speed even Lucian couldn’t follow.
’So you were the first!’
He thought seeing the broken bone spike which sought to impale him from behind.
His left arm flashed, the falling meteor hammer landing on the ground leaving a crater behind.
’Did I miss? No!’
Several images and thoughts races through his mind as he kept moving, dodging the spike and its weilder.
He didn’t miss, his opponent had just moved faster. What he struck was nothing but an after image.
’They’re stalling!’
The cold light in his eyes brightened as he noticed what his four opponents were trying to do.
They had all used that drug at once. He had faced it before and knew that their enhancements weren’t going to last for long and once it was gone, they had to chance against Lucian.
The one with the spider silk ability who had tried restricting his movements had failed miserably, his ability being no match for Lucian.
The explosion caused by his flame marks had injured them grievously, rendering most of them almost unable to fight, but yet they sent this speedster against him.
It was obvious that while Lucian couldn’t follow his movements, he couldn’t get hurt either.
His body and 6th sense could react to the attacks of the speedster, leaving them in a deadlock. He couldn’t land an attack, but it was the same with the speed user too.
They were waiting on someone!
Lucian’s eyes moved to the side, ignoring the speed user running around him.
His gaze locked onto the one who had lost his arm to the explosion, and his eyes constricted.
In front of the man’s outstretched palm was a multicolored ball the size of a basket ball, but the size kept decreasing as he kept compressing the mass of energy to the extreme.
’Sigh! There’s a limit to these things!’ 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"I just might end up dying on one of these missions!"
Lucain sighed, seeing the final move of his opponents.
"Soul flame,—"
"It’s too late! We don’t know who you are, but this is the end. You’re friend should be on his last legs too right now!"
The bone ability user shouted hysterically while coughing up mouthfuls of blood. Lucian had made sure to add something extra in his flames, as payment for stabbing him.
"Cloak."
Lucian was unaffected by the interruption as he completed his statement, his figure suddenly igniting with tall flames before condensing into the shape of a cloak. The sheer heat and energy wave from the formation knocking away the speed user.
"Do it now!"
One of them screamed at the one armed figure.
"Ahhhh!"
He gave out what sounded like a last cry to Lucian’s ears, throwing the ball with all the strength he could muster from whatever was left of his other arm.
Lucian remained rooted to the sane spot with no intention of dodging as he raised the side of his firey cloak and muttered silently
"Devour!"
A second later the ball of energy cake in contact with the cloak and the air exploded to the side, pushing him back.
"Arghhhh!"
Lucian groaned, blood flowing from the side of his mouth as his flames grew out of control, slowly losing the cloak form it had taken.
"ENOUGH!!!"
Lucian shouted at the top of his voice after being pushed back by a few meters, slamming his hand and what little was left of the energy sphere he had devoured straight into the floor.
His flames spread out crazily, covering the entire space while spreading to other areas at the same time.
"Ahhhhh!!!"
He screamed again, pouring out the excess energy his body still couldn’t handle, pushing the flames to expand more and more.
"Arghhh!!!"
Distorted screams came out of the masked men mouths as they felt the flame wash over them, leaving them with nothing but heart wrenching pain.
They could see as their own bodies cracked and scattered into ash in a matter of seconds. Even their bones didn’t last long under the flames.
Their screams died down a few seconds later and all that was left of them was nothing but piles of ashes.
"Cough!"
Lucian coughed up another mouthful of blood and looked to the side to see another two piles of ashes. Beside them was the sound ability user who was looking down in confusion, wondering why he wasn’t hurt by the flames.
"Quit looking and get us out of here!!"
Lucian’s voice reached his ears and he rushed to the side of the collapsing detective, assisting him by the shoulders.
"We have to leave now!"
Lucian said, looking at the flames that had spread throughout the space, destroying all the pieces of equipment available.
The flames had no effect on him, the owner, but the other guy was only able to walk through it unscathed because he was making a conscious effort not to hurt him.
It seemed like even he could sense that as a pricking feeling rose across his body. He carried Lucian and they rushed out of the center section.
The moment they stepped out, thet were welcomed with a sight of chaos. The flames had spread faster than they had anticipated, reaching the other section of the base, consuming everything and everyone in its path.
It was impossible to put it out without killing the caster, and even if they did, Lucian wasn’t sure the flames would die down. He was slowly losing control over it.
"Where next?"
"The nearest exit!"
Lucian felt like embedding his hammer into the head of the sound user for asking such a stupid question.
His original plan was to visit the centre of the base where all key operations and research were being held before moving on to hunt any other key figures like Lucas.
He had completed the first and most important in his opinion—destroying the central area.
As for his other mission, it was pointless to chase that. If there were any present, they would have escaped at the sound of the first alarm.
"Alright!"
The sound user said, pushing Lucian onto his back before sprinting through the hall ways which were already filled with cracks.
They managed to get to the closest exit on time with the aid of the map he had E6 prepare before hand.
"Run farther!"
Lucian said once they were out of the base, finally at ground level.
Creating a gap of almost one kilometer between they and the base, he asked that they stopped and got down.
At this distance, he could feel the connection and control he had over his flames slowly slip away from him.
The mass of energy he had devoured was something beyond what he was prepared for, and this was the result of his power that had spiraled out of control.
With the last bits of strength within him, he managed to mutter,
"Soul flame, Ignite!"
BOOM!!
The ground trembled violently as if struck by an earthquake, and the top of the base could be seen collapsing inwards and for a moment everything went silent. The destruction seemed to have settled.
Those were their thoughts until a huge pillar of flame exploded from within, shooting upwards like a beacon across the sky.
The shockwave came a few moments later knocking both men to the ground followed by the cracks which snaked across the earth.
"What the hell?!"
The sound user muttered, seeing the permanent scar on the planet. One that had been caused by the ability of the man in front of him
