Chapter 132: Ursuption

"Ughh!"

Lucian laid on the ground, ignoring the damage he had unintentionally caused.

"Why are you so chill about that? That was all you!"

Anger could be heard from the trembling voice of the sound user as he confronted Lucian.

"Are you dumb? They dig a hole into your planet and uses your men as disposable meat sacks. I just ended that, you vermin should be grateful!"

Lucian replied with the same flavor despite being on his last legs.

The young sound user sighed and gave up on fhd the matter.

"Call me Dorian!"

He told Lucian his name and crashed on the floor besides him.

"So. What next?"

Ue asked and a small smile flashed across Lucian’s face.

"Nothing too serious. Just killing some rats."

"What do mean?"

"Give me some time!"

Lucian groaned. If anything, he wanted rest more than ever, but what one wanted and what they got weren’t always the same.

"The ones you said were supporting them."

"Technix!"

Dorian’s voice was cold, his gaze filled with hate at the mention of the opposing group.

"Yeah, them! I have to kill them too. Anyone related to these bastards are to die by my hand!"

Lucian declared, suppressing a small chuckle at the thought that he had taken on the job of a whole different department.

’How pitiful!’

"Just who are you to say something like that?"

Dorian took a few steps back at Lucian’s words. Caution could be seen in his eyes and his body language showed that he was on guard against the man on the floor.

He had seen what Lucian was capable of—blowing up such a huge facility and permanently scarring the planet. That was way above what he had given him credit for.

"I thought we already agreed. Its a trade secret!"

Lucian glanced at Dorian from the side of his eyes.

"You’re definitely not from this planet or the surrounding ones. You aren’t even from this sector. I can hear the difference in your steps!"

Dorian continued to make bold claims, his aura getting more dangerous with each word he let out.

’Hear the difference?’

Lucian thought curiously at the unique statement the man had mentioned.

"I’ll make it simple. I’ve got business with those guys and our interests just happen to align."

"It should be easier that way!"

Lucian said, hoping the man standing a few meters away from him would calm down and they could get on to business.

"Hmm!"

Dorian’s aura calmed down and his raised arms returned to his side, but he still had something to say.

"Back there, you said something which had me thinking and I just can’t seem to shake of this feeling!"

"Sigh! Just ask already!"

Lucian shot at him, losing his patience

"Your ability, it’s the Soul flame?!"

Dorian asked in a tone that seemed like he was stating a fact.

The air around Lucian went cold for a moment and his expression hardened, conforming Dorian’s words, but he seemed to give up on his thoughts just after.

"Yeah, so?"

"You’re him!"

Dorian’s voice trembled with something between excitement and fear.

"What do you mean, I’m him?"

Confusion filled Lucian’s expression. This wasn’t what he had been expecting at the mention of his ability.

"The soul flame weilder from the capital. The black sheep of the Zexters, right? You might not know, but you have quite a reputation over here. Probably every one in this section has heard of you at least once!"

Dorian claimed, revealing some information Lucian felt he shouldn’t have known at all.

"They rumors of your clear record; always capturing whoever you chased after and how that record of yours was ruined by Lucas the crazy scientist who joined hands with these guys!"

Lucian had no idea that he was this popular outside the capital and was quite lost on hie ti feel about that and the fact that his some of his info had been leaked.

"Well, I already took care of Lucas!"

Dorian looked with wide eyes at Lucian’s whi had just said those words casually.

As a member of Zeryl and an inhabitant of a numbered planet, he and everyone else were aware about the capitals search for the scientist.

They went all out, even issuing a bounty on their side of the world. While the official bodies were busy looking for the Lucas, they were doing the same with hopes of cashing in the huge fee on his head.

"Hmm. You want to eliminate Technix?"

"I belive I made that quite clear earlier!"

Lucian’s answer was short.

"You won’t be able to do that easily, or alone. Technix is unlike these guys we just butchered. Their forces arent concentrated in a single region or base. Its spread over a couple of planets on the section, especially the ones we Zeryls are on, but they’ve also got a few planets they alone control"

Dorian said, taking a seat beside Lucian, his eyes were eventually drawn to the huge pit in the distance.

"Are you kidding me, or you’re just dumb? I don’t need to kill every single member. I just need to take out those in charge. I’m sure your guys won’t miss out on the opportunity, unless they’re as dumb as you are. They can eliminate the rest for me!"

Lucian went out of his way to explain something so simple to Dorian.

"Hmmm. Isn’t it against your code or whatever you guys over there call it. You know, helping criminals?"

He asked and Lucian looked away, taking a while to reply.

"I have a mission, and I will do anything to complete it. Eliminating your group isn’t my mission, besides the capital seems to need this sector for whatever reason. You don’t need to doubt, if I was ordered, I will kill you all. Uts just my job!"

Lucian’s voice was same as always; cold ond containing his despise towards people like Dorian.

"Hmmm. I sent a message to my guys back at Zeryl. They should be preparing, but while we wait, what the hell is that ability of yours?"

Dorian asked in a truly curious tone. He had been holding back for a while now.

Lights flashed within Lucian’s eyes at Dorian’s question, memories of the past filling his mind.

For some reason, he didn’t mind answering the questions of the man beside him, despite how stupid they happened to be, but he conveniently brushed it off as payment for his help earlier.

"This is the last question you get to ask."

Lucian said, sitting up.

"My ability, Soul flame isn’t actually a flame. It’s more of an energy consumption ability, but in a different way. The soul is connected to the body and vice versa. With my flames, I can reach directly into the soul and ’burn’ it without touching the human vessel. But because of their link, it doesn’t matter what I choose to attack; body or soul, the other is affected!"

He said, giving a short breakdown on his ability.

"Hmm, how did you manage something like that explosion then, if your limited to souls and stuff?"

"I never said I was limited to souls! I called it an energy devouring ability. I can easily devour the energy in the matter around me and what I do with that energy is up to be to decide."

"The last attack they shot at me contained more than I can handle in my current state and it caused a sort of overflow. That and some other things in that lab increasez the magnitude of the explosion."

Lucain said, getting up to his feet.

His ability, the one that marked him as the black sheep amongst the Zexrers who for generations had always awakened abilities related to their occupation in tech, the soul flame, was an ability that stood at the very edge of the S Rank.

His potential was boundless, but it had been born into the wrong family, and sometimes he felt, the wrong person.

To him, punishing criminals who thought themselves above reason and the law was the only use of something as dangerous as the soul flame.

"..."

Dorian looked at the back of Lucian who was slowly walking in the direction of the settlements.

"You don’t know the way to Technix! Let meesd you there!"

He said, catching up to him.

Together they headed over to the base of those who supported the experiments on the planet, launching a successful attack on their headquarters and eliminating all key figures present.

The people of Zeryl who were already on standby, gladly joined the chaos.

They launched an all out attack on the bases of Technix across the section, catching their enemies totally off guard.

With their command line broken, Technix had no way to react to the assault of their enemies and succumbed after a few days of relentless fighting.

At the end, Zeryl took over their planets and successfully became one of the biggest forces in the section and all this happened because of Lucian.

His black flames chilled the hearts of those who came across it the battle field. Haunting the minds of many for years to come.
