Lost Origins: SS Ranked Awakening-Chapter 134: Leora
The trip back to Crane city was far easier than the first travel. The head of Capsized Ships had sent a representative to pick him up, taking him back to Harbour City.
A few hours later, he was back in Crane City, standing in front of the Viscount’s mansion. It was time for him to give his report, he couldn’t escape this.
"Come in, detective!"
Viscount Hawkins voice reached his ears from within the room.
The office was the same as he remembered, the fire crackling in the fire place giving the room a sense of warm comfort.
The Viscount was in his chair, staring at Lucian which his red eyes.
"You’re back. I take it you had a good harvest?"
The Viscount asked casually.
"Yes, my lord!"
Lucian replied with a bow before proceeding to give a breakdown of all that had happened from investigating Galacticous to moving off world to the other bases.
He did make sure to exclude other things like the mysterious people who had handed him clues, the presence of Lucas or the state he had found their final base.
All he did was hand all the necessary information and evidence to the Viscount.
"By standard regulations, I will also have to inform the D.R.I of this, my lord!"
Lucian informed him after the Viscount had gone through the information in the chip he handed to him.
"Galactious...."
Viscount Hawkins muttered deeply, resting his chin on his interlocked hands.
His eyes had darkened, thinking of all he had read.
"A vassal family?? The most have encased their balls in gold to try bringing their shit into my city!"
"Give me a few days to make some preparations."
"You can leave!"
Viscount Hawkins dismissed Lucian who bowed in turn, taking his leave.
"These bastards must be crazy to think they can do such in my territory and walk scot free!"
Lucian might have completed his mission and gotten all the evidence needed against Galacticous and the vassal family, but the fight wasn’t over yet. It had only left his hands and entered a bigger playing field.
This wasn’t a matter of human experimentation any longer, it had gotten to the political field where their weapons against each other were schemes and hidden attacks.
The vassal family could be dealt with rather easily, but Galacticous was a major corporation with connections that ran deep. Despite their involvement in something like this, it was impossible to take them out immediately.
Revealing this to the world would definitely give them a huge blow, but City Lord Hawkings wasn’t content with letting them off with just that. He was furious and the only that could satisfy him was to see their Corporation crumble knowing he was behind it.
The anger of a Scarlet was vengeful and vicious, very unwise to provoke.
’Even the D.R.I won’t be able to make moves immediately. I should go back to headquarters before all this escalates’
Lucian thought, heading to the security corps building in the inner city.
The rest would be handled by the parties of interest.
...
’This was definitely interesting!’
August thought, sitting across the cross-legged figure of Kieran.
It was invisible to the average person, but August could sense as the air around him shook each time he took a deep breath, slowly resonating with the recruit.
’This is what a rank above S looks like. I don’t know if to be terrified or glad that he’s under my care’
His mind went back to their experiences during the month long training.
Kieran’s eyes opened, a fading gold light could still be observed as he stared into the eyes of his instructor.
"I’m ready!"
"You certainly look ready."
"Your training has come to an end and I can definitely say that you are in no way lesser than those who were previously ahead of you, but remember what you need to do!"
August stated.
"I understand!"
Kieran stood up, reaching for the scythe beside him.
The weapon had gone through another round of torture during the training with August, reaching the end if its life span.
Kieran’s eyes traced the small and delicate cracks which spanned across the length of the scythe, his eyes carrying a weight it didn’t have previously.
"Hmm, take sometime to rest before things get rowdy again!"
August dropped a final comment as Kieran walked out of the building, coming across Derrick who flashed him a smile before rushing into the building.
"You are surprisingly on time....."
August’s and Derrick’s voices faded as he walked farther from the building.
He didn’t make it far though, before his watch began to beep crazily, with a sudden influx of messages.
August had just got rid of the restrictions he placed on his watch for the sake of maximum concentration during the training.
Glancing at the screen to see almost 50 unread messages, his eyes narrowed.
"Did something happen?"
He muttered wondering how he had gotten that many messages, opening up the log, he calmed down a little seeing that most of them were from the head chef, Danzo. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
He had failed to inform him of his abrupt disappearance, and he was sure August didn’t have the time to, or just didn’t feel like going through the ’stress’.
’I’ll go through them after I get go my room!’
Kieran thought, walking the corridors of the camp. The tense atmosphere in the air, reminding him that there was still a war going on that he had yet to get involved in
He went into his dormitory, a place he barely spent time in since he got to the second stage.
Unlike what he had expected, the place was still as clean as he had left it, the self cleaning function that he had never gotten to appreciate in full effect.
He took his time to appreciate the comfort his dorm gave him, tracing the scars on his body as the water trailed down. No training with August was without danger. He was called a mad man for a reason.
When he was done, he took a seat going through the messages he had gotten.
A vast majority of them was from Danzo, the pervious tough chef who had grown soft when it came to Kieran, seeing him as more than just a staff or recruit.
He took his time replying to each and every message of concern the chef had sent. Explaining and apologizing to the man who had eventually found out the reason for his disappearance.
Once that was done, the messages jad reduced drastically, with only a few left from Ruby asking why he had suddenly become unavailable and if he was open to pairing up for another mission.
Asides those, there was only one messages that piqued his interest. A message from Leora, the noble who claimed to have helped him out of curiosity.
He appreciated the help, but felt that they had reached the point where they no longer had anything between them.
"This is quite rare of her"
Kieran muttered, opening up the message to see what the librarian had for him.
<<Come meet at the library when you see this. Immediately!>>
’What does she want?’
His mind spun behind the icy expression on his face as he got to his feet, prepared to head to the library.
Judging from the sense of urgency he felt from the message, it wasn’t wise to dull until he knew what this was about.
...
LIBRARY
Kieran’s eyes scanned the tall building which jad a simple holographic sigh saying ’library’.
It felt like ages since he had been in this cavern underneath the camp, his eyes went in the direction of the shop where he had fixed his scythe, the blacksmith’s face flashing across his mind, but that wasn’t what he was here for.
He reminded himself as he stepped into the lobby of the library.
It was nowhere as populated as it had been the last time he went there, but it wasn’t completely deserted like the first time he visited.
’Heh! This was quite a believable lie!’
He sneered inwardly thinking about how useless the place had become to him. No matter how hard he tried, he ended up getting things that weren’t worth it.
The place had been structured to favour the noble and the nobles only, there was no place for a commoner like him.
"You’re here!"
An unmistakable voice, containing a strange mix of curiosity and mysteriousness reached his ears and he turned back to face Leora who was standing a few meters away from him.
"You asked for me"
’Clearly not as urgent as I thought!’
Kieran thought, seeing the light expression on her face. A couple of bad scenarios he had made in his head, eliminated instantly.
"Yes. Let’s walk, it’s been a while since you visited this lonely sister in the library"
Leora said, dragging him by the arm.
She was the same as ever, unhinged and filled with curiosity, asking questions after questions about what Kieran had been up to recently, her eyes picking up details that would’ve been ignored.
"Eveything but your personality seemed to have changed. Tch! I’ll go straight to the point then!"
She said in a slightly sour tone.
"I want you to attend an event with me!"
