Lost Origins: SS Ranked Awakening-Chapter 165: Anger vs Survival
"Hmm?"
The soldier’s run towards the fog was caught by Orion but ut was too late to do anything, but watch as he disappeared into the fog.
Besides, there were other things to do.
Orion ignored Lira and went after the older soldier, his armed fist doing what lira had failed to do the moment it made contact.
Cough!
The soldier coughed out a mouthful of blood as the full impact of the punch hit him, forcing the wind out his lungs followed by some blood.
’I can’t take that head on!’
His eyes narrowed, finally managing to put some distance between him and Orion.
The attack he had taken was enough to understand that he while he could handle Alex and Lira, Orion wasn’t anything like them.
’How come there’s that much if a difference?’
He wondered, his hand still on his chest which hurt like hell.
"You shouldn’t space out, you know?"
Orion’s voice took hold of his attention once more.
He hadn’t moved from his spot earlier, letting him create some distance between them. Seems like he did infacr cared about those subordinates of his. That attitude drom earlier must have been a bluff, one that was pretty convincing at that.
"I told you I was curious, you best satisfy that curiosity of mine before I lose interest and crack that neck of yours."
"You won’t get another chance!"
Orion’s voice became cold as he gave both Lira and Alex a single glance.
A look which terrified them more than the death of their friend and fellow teammate.
Those last words of his.... they weren’t for the soldier, that was his warming to them. One more chance and they had better bot screw it up.
Silently, with rage, shame and a whirlpool of emotions still circling in her chest, Lira rushed out.
Her target? The soldier who was holding Alex down.
Orion had crushed one of her daggers, but she had a couple more. Pulling another out, her eyes darkened and the air around them kicked up furiously, rushing in her direction.
Seeing the wild winds, Alex got the message and acted accordingly as his skin reddened and his body enlarged visbly.
With the sudden increase in strength which caught the soldier off guard, he manged to escape his entanglement, jabbing the soldier’s gut with his elbow before turning around to land a punch that almost snapped the neck of the man.
With the wild wind signaling Lira’s arrival, the both of them rushed out to handle the two soldiers who had regrouped with each other.
Seeing the crazed strides of the two approaching recruits, the soldiers also made their moves.
Glowing blue veins snaking thier way up their body accompanied by dark lines which seemed to carve itself into their skin. The eyes of both soldiers became completely black and an extremely savage aura burst firth from the two of them.
The appreance of the soldiers couldn’t bother the emotion driven recuits any less, but the aura they gave off plastered a frown on their faces. It was one they were all familiar with.
Anyone who had spent a single day on this planet outside the care of the camp could recognize the aura gave off by the wild monsters.
Not only did the two soldiers look like and gave off the aura of monsters, they seemed to have lost most kf their reasoning as they also rushed out matching their opponents pace.
From the side, ut was like a wild painting depicting the clash of crazed opponents.
"Monster aura?"
Orion was unmoved, his voice lacking a hint of surprise as the wave from the clash between his subordinates and the soldiers reached him.
His eyed found it’s way back to their leader who still seemed to be making his mind about something.
"Is that how you did it? I have to say, I’m disappointed. I definitely expected more."
’More reason to know exactly what’s going on in that outpost of theirs!’
He had lost interest in the soldiers in front of him, but they had just added fuel to the flame that was, his curiosity.
"That’s much coming from someone who isn’t going to make it out of here alive anyways. Heh!"
The middle aged man sneered.
Orion’s words seemed to have helped him come to a conclusion as he took steps forward of his own accord, his body and aura displaying similar and more extreme features as the other two soldiers.
With each step he took, those features showed themselves. His body grew increasingly larger as they ripped through his uniform.
Orion looked unimpressed by the sharp claws and teeth of the soldier which was now sprinting towards him.
Shifting a foot back, he lowered his body and prepared to welcome the opponent appropriately.
BANG!
The clash of fists had a serious expression appear on his face, but Orion could never admit what he had just thought of.
Both opponents had gauged each other and all that was left was for the best one to come out alive.
’Fool!’
The soldier’s eyes narrowed as he dodged Orion’s attack to the head abd siped his claw at his side.
The ear grating sound and sparks which flew around revealed the body amour Orion worn underneath his uniform.
It was actually strong enough to block the soldier’s swipe.
"!!!"
Orion’s cold eyes jad locked onto him once more, his fist following behind like a homing missile.
BANG!
He managed to dodge the attack narrowly once again, leaving a crater on the floor.
Taking the opportunity, the soldier took a wide sweep at Orion’s feet. Considering his current position, it would be hard to dodge the attack, but Orion had other intentions.
BANG!
The attack connected and Orion fell on his back, giving the soldier the opportunity he had been waiting for as his figure flashed, appearing above Orion, his sharp claws rushing straight at the recruits chest.
A strike with all his might would definitely break through the amour the recuit had underneath his uniform.
"So, you didn’t lose your sanity like the others!"
Orion’s voice was like a whisper, but at that distance it was loud enough for the soldier to hear it clearly, and that tone of his unnerved him deeply.
The recruit spoke like he was observing a test subject while making notes, he clearly didn’t understand how close to death he was.
Fuelled with anger, the soldiers brought the hand down quickly, but as it turns out, Orion wasn’t totally full of himself.
With was perceived as a blurry flash, his armed fist had slapped away the soldier’s hand causing him to miss.
The soldier who now had his hand stuck in the ground beside him, just inches away from the recruits chest had his eyes widen like saucers.
’Noo!!’
’I have you exactly where I want you!’
Orion’s eyes remained cold as his gauntlet pierced through the soldier’s chest, his hand stained with dark blood showing itself on the other side.
Feeling the soldiers body go limp, he threw him over ti the side and got to his feet, the blood that had washed on him, dropping downwards.
’He isn’t back yet?’
Now that his battle was over, his mind went back to the soldier who had run out at the start of the battle.
’Is there a way to contact the other soldiers?’
His attention was slowly taken to the battle going on at the other side of the space, between Lira and Alex, and the soldiers.
Right now, the place was no where like it was anymore.
They had taken the fight from one end to another, even destroying the boulder while they were at it.
The fight was nothing but raw and wild just like how the crazed beasts fought.
Lira used the wind to aid her movement, making it quicker and giving her the platform to male wild unpredictable movements on both grounds and air as her dagger coated with a thin layer of air found it’s way to the body of the opponents.
"Ahhh!!$@$%#"
The air around them vibrated in response to her scream, pushing back the soldier who was about to land a hit on Alex.
The only advantage they had over their opponents was the last strand of themselves keeping them sane, preventing them from getting crushed in the rush of emotions going through them.
SWOOSH!
The air rushed, gathering sound her daggers like drill ss he she stabbed downward, landing the first major injury on the opposing shoulder whose hand flew up into the air.
’Missed!’
Her face hardened, ignoring the sharp blade the soldier had managed to push into her guts by sacrificing his hand.
"I want youuur HEEEAAADDD!!!""
Lira screamed, looking down on his neck, but her opponent fighting, not with anger in his heart, but for survival was just as crazy as her and did what he could in that situation.
With one hand gone, no weapon and his body held in a tight lock by Lira, he used the one last thing he had; his teeth. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
A large bite towards her neck could kill her, and with the tiniest sense if self preservation, she let go of his body in hopes of dodging, but the soldiers held on tight with his one hand, wrapping his legs around her as hard as he could.
Yet, as they fell to the ground, he also missed, his teeth, digging into her shoulder and he pulled back, hard!
"Arghhhhh!!!"
A scream of pain erupted from her throat as he ripped a chunk of flesh off her.
’Lira!’
Alex who was in his own tight entanglement heard this and lost it, his attacks multiplying in intensity, the moisture in the air around him vaporizing from the scorching heat he was giving off.
