Lost Origins: SS Ranked Awakening-Chapter 94: Pride
Kieran’s amber rimmed eyes followed Raymond’s movements as he appeared in front of him bringing up his weapon to block the attack and they exchange several strikes with each other.
Kieran making sure to avoid coming in contact with Raymond’s palms. The fact that he could now predict his next attacks to an agent madr it much easier to do without sacrificing any of his attacks.
Raymond on the other hand, no longer looked down on Kieran like before, unknown to Kieran, the speed and intensity behind his attacks was starting to match that of Raymond’s.
Kieran could faintly feel something happening within him, the bloody voice that always chanted "Kill" in his head had gone silent and everything felt different.
His body tingled with every move he made and he could feel a bit of the energy within him move for the first time.
It rushed up at the last moment whenever he made an attack, amplifying the strength behind each strike.
Kieran’s arms blurred, sending slashes, jabs and every other attack he could cough out at Raymond who also responded in kind—using his palm techniques to the max, leaving several after images as he moved his palm in a mystical way.
The cheers of the crowd didn’t matter any more as the two of them had entered their own world with just them in it.
One was fighting for his pride and the other was fighting for survival, but one thing they shared in common was that a single mistake was all that was needed to give the enemy a path to victory.
A single chance at breaking through. A chance that they both sought desperately!
’How?!’
Kieran’s eyes widened when Raymond’s foot work suddenly changed and his figure flickered, disappearing for a moment before he felt a firm hand on his shoulder.
In that moment he looked to the side, Kieran realized how badly he had messed up, seeing the cold look in Raymond’s eyes.
He could feel a numbing sensation spread from his shoulder all the way to his arm.
It wasn’t what it thought it was going to feel like. Instead, rather than being just being unable to move his arm, it felt like there was also another external force pressing on his arm from all sides, stopping it from moving.
Kieran’s eyes sharpened as his mind spun into overdrive, looking for a way out of the situation.
CRACK!
Kieran swung the body of his scythe like a bat with his second hand and Raymond backed off to avoid taking the attack head on.
But that was pointless as he wss never the target of Kieran’s swing. Instead his eyes widened as he saw Kieran smash his wepin onto his own outstretched hand cracking it.
"Wha-....the hell"
"Tssss!"
"Did he need to go that far?!"
Shocked murmurs came from the part of the audience that was focused on this fight as they watched Kieran’s arm fall limp at his side.
Raymond’s eyes shook when Kieran turned to him. Those dark eyes which seemed to be filled with nothing but darkness, surrounded by the thin golden line that circled around it glowing ominously, resulting in a very deep contrast.
The look in his eyes wasn’t just what made him feel fear though. It was the look on his face after he smashed his own arm.
His paralysis position didn’t prevent him from feel everything that happen to the arm. He always made sure that his victims could still feel while being paralyzed. How else was he going to see the satisfying expression of pain on their faces?
But Kieran was completely unexpected. He had smashed his own arm and didn’t as much as flinch for a second, instead he shot Raymond a look that made him feel like he was back in his first year.
"What the hell! Fuxk you!!"
Raymond slapped his face, pulling himself out of the trance he had fallen in. He cursed angrily and spat in Kieran’s direction, but behind that reaction of his was a back completed soaked in cold sweat and cold feet.
Fortunately for him, his pride wouldn’t let him accept that he was feeling fear from the stare of a recruit who he could easily crush a few moments ago. But was his pride really a good thing in this situation?
"Ah...how careless was he?"
Kieran muttered in a frigid tone, glancing at the arm he had just broke and the other cuts on his body were yet to heal.
His words, although voiced out as a mutter was heard clearly by Raymond who was only a few meters away, frowning his face in confusion.
Before he could think deep into what he haf just heard, the two eerie eyes that struck fear into him showed up inches in front of his and he could feel as the intestines and organs on his stomach were being pushed back as Kieran’s fist pushed itself further into his gut raising his feet above the ground before he fell back to his knees.
"Aren’t you supposed to be at level 2 max? Even if you’re supremely talented, there’s no way you’re above tha—ughhh!!"
Raymond couldn’t compete his words as he bent to throw up some blood on the floor and the next thing that greeted him was Kieran’s foot.
BANG!
His head shot back as Kieran began attacking him with his legs like a seasoned in muay thai, sending kicks after kicks at Raymond, having thrown his scythe to the side a long time ago.
Grabbing Raymond by the collar of his shirt, he pushed him a little and slapped him hard! His expression unchanged through the process of beating the shit out of the proud recruit, Raymond.
"I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!!!!"
Raymond shouted and Kieran let him go looking at black, blue and white art he had painted in his face, wondering how was able to talk without sounding like a baby.
"I should fix that!"
Kieran placed his finger on his lips, ignoring Raymond’s outburst.
This sent him into another outburst, his forehead popping with veins and his eyes reddening even more. It was possible that he had eveb popped a few eye vessels.
His palms began to shine in an eerie fashion; his left taking a green color as a weird slimy content of the same color coated it. The same happened tobis right hand with a whitish slime.
He then sent a palm directly at Kieran who was still pondering on how to fix his speech, but Kieran had already been able to read into Raymond’s attacks and that hasn’t changed now that he was down to one arm.
He moved to the side, dodging the attack, but that wasn’t all, as Raymond kept coming with attack after attack, even incorporating his weird movement and palm techniques in his attacks all with the aim of landing a single hit on Kieran.
One hit and it was over! He would win and finally be done with everything he had experienced in the span of this fight.
Unfortunately, Kieran knew that too and there was no way he was going to let himself get hit, dodging each attack in a smooth manner that wasn’t present before.
He carefully took steps towards his scythe which laid towards his back.
Getting to it, he used his leg to kick up the weapon, grabbed it with his hand and snapped it at Raymond who instinctively brought up his hands to block only to feel the pain on his leg.
’A feint?’
His eyes widened as he was subject to Kieran’s unique way of using his scythe.
He didn’t even use his blade to fight. For the greater part of the fight, Kieran had been using the pole of the scythe to attack, using it as one would a staff.
One thing Kieran had failed to notice earlier and was now helping him with this reckless fighting style was how flexible the scythe was to be used as a staff.
The blacksmith had warned him that the scythe wasn’t going to be completely the same as it was before he reforged it, and that the change could be a negative one for him.
Apart from the change in length that Kieran had easily noticed, he had no idea until now that it had also become more flexible than before, but it didn’t feel like it would snap if he pushed it a little more.
Kieran’s one arm flashed around, whipping sounds echoing across ghetto stage as the pole arm cane in contact with Raymond’s body in several spots.
’Fuck!’
Raymond cussed internally realizing how much of a mistake he had made right from the start of the fight.
He had taken Kieran for granted and now, he had run out of energy. He was done for and he knew it.
’Now way I’m doing down alone!’
Raymond steeled himself ignoring the access and grabbing Kieran by the waist.
"It’s over now!’
He sighed knowing that Kieran was also done for.
"All for this? I’m quite disappointed!"
Kieran’s nonchalant voice came from above him and his eyes widened in pure horror.
"Ho-how?"
Kieran should have been rendered immobile the moment he touched him. He was using the strongest poisons he could muster, after all.
Luckily Kieran put him out metal breakdown, smashing the butt of the scythe on his head, knocking him out cold.
"Good night!"
Kieran said, throwing his body to the side.
"Well isn’t this interesting...ahhhh!!"
Kieran bent down to say before screaming loudly, clutching his head as the gold in his eyes flickered and his dark eyes became lighter, going back to the previous shade.
’The hell was that?’
He thought, sweat dropping his body and soaked clothes. His mind was a total mess as he missed the rune in the back of his hand which was fading away.
Meanwhile on another part of the planet, a scaly looking creature with several runes shining around it turned in the direction of the camp and let out a chuckle which vibrated through the air.
"Interesting!"
