Chapter 95: Aurora

Kieran shakily got to his feet and walked off the stage, his head still throbbing in pain.

"Hmm..."

In one of the identical combat unit buildings, August sat, observing Kieran’s figure as he made his way down the stairs, a dark expression on his face.

"Isn’t this interesting!"

A small giggle came from underneath his mask as he tilted his head to the side like a crazy man as he watched the holographic projection.

After Kieran was out of view, his eyes traced back to another fight which wss nearing its conclusion—Sabrina and the 75th recruit on the list, Cyrus Walker.

BANG!

Sabrina rolled to the side avoiding a sphere of electricity that had just shot at her before swinging her arm, sending a number of ice shards at him.

Her current state was the complete opposite of what Kieran looked like during his fight. There wasn’t so much as a scratch on her clothes, just a single cut that crossed her cheek.

Her eyes lit with a faint blue color as the ice all around the stage liquefied turning into water tendrils that rushed to grab his limbs, but he sent out a force of electricity, blasting away the water from him.

Cyrus’ blinked his eyes to prevent the sweat from getting in as he thought to himself.

’What the hell is doing she?!’

"Ha..haa...haa!"

His chest rose and fell deeply and he frowned at his open palms.

"I’m almost out of energy"

He muttered looking at Sabrina who watched him calmly without any hint of fatigue.

’How did we even get here?!’

Cyrus eyes flashed.

Well, that was a rather short thing to explain!

Back at the beginning of the fight....

"Don’t you think you’re overreaching Aurora girl?"

"Overreaching would be challenging the man above you. Being below him doesn’t you make you close, at all!"

Sabrina’s cold voice made Cyrus expressions morph a little as he kissed his teeth in slight frustration, having lost in the battle of words.

Just like she said, because he was directly below Kael on the rankings, people tended to avoid him when making their challenges

But Kael’s massive shadow wasn’t the only thing that deterred people from challenging him.

Just like every other ranker on the list, he had gotten his current rank because he deserved it and had what it fook to be there.

As for Keal, as stated earlier, he wasn’t to be judged based on the normal standards. He should have been in the top 30 at least, but to no one’s understanding, he chose to remain in the 74th rank.

Because of Sabrina’s words, painting Cyrus as a character which relied on Kael’s shadow to get this far he got angry as she dismissed his efforts so simply.

’Fucking pillar bastartds!’

His eyes narrowed and he rushed out to attack her the moment the signal was heard.

Coating his feet with electricity to boost his speed and appear right in front a not so surprised Sabrina who made a blunt ice contruct in that moment and smashed it in his face.

Landing roughly on the floor at the edge of the stage, Cyrus stood up with a frown on his face.

’Pillar men!’

His eyes turned cold as he was observed the skill and reaction time his opponent possessed.

Sabrina was the descendant of a pillar family, the Aurora Family considered to be one mysterious among the 9 pillars. Everyone of their descendants had gone through a rigorous amount of training and preparation.

He would be a fool to look down on her and place her in the same level as the rest of the second stage recruits. She was in a different league entirely.

It was best if he treated her as a serious threat.

Cyrus did the same thing as before, coating his limbs with current and moving first to attack her, this time he concealed two orbs of electricity within his fists.

When he arrived in front of her, Sabrina, who still hadn’t moved from her spot simply replicated the same attack as before—creating an ice construct at the last moment to strike into his face, but Cyrus, having expected that, moved lower, dodging the construct that would have smashed into his face like before and threw his fist at Sabrina.

What he didn’t expect though, was a part of the construct extending to follow him about to smash onto the back of his head.

Still, that didn’t mean he wasn’t prepared for unseen circumstances. His eyes flashed feeling the chill air behind his head and a small pulse of electricity exploded from him in the direction of the construct, blowing it to bits.

All this brought no pause to his attack that was about to land, but Sabrina wasn’t just standing while doing nothing, watching herself get attacked.

An small block of ice appeared between his fist and her gut as he used her ability in a similar manner as Ethan did—making ice constructs at the last moment to defend one’s self. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

This seemed like a defensive gesture, a method of fighting Cyrus didn’t expect from his opponent, but then, he didn’t care either as his electric coated hand smashed into the block of ice, shattering it and his fist opened up pressing the orb of electricity into Sabrina.

’Hmm!"

Cyrus’s eyes narrowed when the orb made contact with her body. It didn’t feel right.

There was no change in facial expression and most of all, she felt....stiff; like he was hitting a piece of..

’Ice!’

His eyes widened as he rolled to the side in urgency, dodging a huge shard of ice that would’ve pierced through him if he didn’t acted fast enough.

Cyrus watched as the ice skewer passed by the other stage and crash into the next, with a dark expression on his face.

When he turner around, he saw Sabrina watching him with the same cold expression.

’How the hell did she do that?!’

This thoughts spun trying to understand how she had madr such a realistic ice clone. He had even seen it turn its eye at him several times during the fight.

"Sigh!"

"Lightening gauntlets!"

Cyrus voice vibrated through the air and the sky darkened a little and flashed with streaks of Lightening, as the rough current flowing up and down his arms took on a more defined shape of a gauntlet.

Sabrina glanced at the sky which had gone back to its previous bright state as before, and shook her head.

’Still not enough!’

Cyrus’ technique was far from the level where it could affect the weather and atmosphere for am extended period of time.

She was brought out of her thoughts by Cyrus attack which was about to plant itself in her face and she hurriedly dodged the attack, tilting her face to the side, but a spark of electricity crossed her cheek, leaving a small cut open.

Sabrina, seeing an opponent I’m Cyrus’ failed attack, coated her hands in a faint layer of water and grabbed his arm and used her foot as a center to rotate and throw him over her shoulder, onto the floor.

Surprisingly, that wasn’t all to Cyrus’ attack as he sent several current filled orbs at her, forcing her to dodge all of them.

This gave him enough time to approach her again and throw another punch.

Sabrina’s cold blue eyes flashed towards him and she clicked her tongue.

Instead of avoiding the attack as she had been doing before, she ignored one of the orbs; sending a contruct to crash into it, and used her hand to block his attack, grabbing his fist in her hands.

Cyrus’ smile widened seeing this move of her’s.

’Prideful bastards. Doesn’t matter if you have a little bit of immunity!’

His eyes flashed as he increased the current flowing in the gauntlet, sending pulse after pulse to Sabrina who was holding his fist.

His mind was filled with glee. Now that she had been hitvwith concentrated pulses of hos electricity, there was no way she was going to avoid being paralyzed, especially with the foolish decision of coating her hands with water.

"Is that all?"

Her cold voice splashed onto him, snapping him out of his day dream.

"Maybe I should have gone against Keal after all!"

Sabrina’s cold eyes bored holes into Cyrus as he tried to get how she had managed to take that, unscathed.

Her eyes flashed as he pulled him closer, pounding two punches into his face before throwing him into the distance.

"Give up!"

She offered him plainly.

"How didn’t you get shocked. You were using water!"

"Sigh!"
