Chapter 61: Tania’s Suggestion

"Are you falling in love with His Majesty the King?" asked Tania quickly, making Arielle freeze on the spot.

"F-falling in love?"

"Yes, love," said the woman, who was also surprised that the princess harbored a crush for the king.

Tania often told Arielle stories about a princess who fell in love with a prince. But Tania never explained the process of love itself, which made Arielle can only imagine something abstract.

"I do not think so. Can someone fall in love so quickly?"

"Of course, you can, Your Highness. Love is something that is still mysterious. Love can come just because of one look in the eye, or love can also come after a dozen years together. Everyone does not know when that feeling of love will be present in their hearts."

Arielle was still doubtful, and Tania could understand that. Arielle had no friends her age. She was always surrounded by older people who were too busy with their respective jobs and had no time to explain love to her.

So that when something bothered her, Arielle would be confused.... However, Tania had bigger worries than that. If Arielle fell in love with the king, Tania was worried that Arielle would be hurt in the future.

She did acknowledge the kindness of the King of Northerndell. However, all the good that Arielle had received would soon be gone if they returned to the South.

And what if Arielle’s feelings were only temporary? Arielle harbored a crush for the king because he had given her a lot of attention that the girl didn’t get where she was from. So it made sense that Arielle felt more valued here.

When they returned to Nieverdell later, Arielle would only be filled with disappointment.

"Princess... as you said, Nieverdell has found a pair of wolves, and it is only a matter of time before we return to the South. We’re not going back to the North again. Your meeting with His Majesty King Ronan is only temporary."

"I know, Tania. I’m glad we will go back to Nieverdell. It’s just that I also feel sad about leaving the North. Am I being spoiled too much here?" asked Arielle sadly.

Tania sighed softly. She felt guilty about making Arielle doubt her own feelings.

"I’m sorry for being insensitive to your feelings, Your Highness," said Tania. She held Arielle’s hand tightly, then smiled.

She added, "You may like His Majesty the King more than you like us. The feeling you feel may be called love. Usually, love itself is equated with feelings of deep affection. You want to make your loved ones happy. You always want to be with that person. And you will miss them when they’re not around you, and the like."

Arielle realized those were the feelings she had been having, ever since Ronan entered her life. Tania described her feelings very accurately.

She didn’t want to bother Ronan, she was feeling sad when she saw Ronan crying in his sleep or working to exhaustion like yesterday.

Arielle also felt empty when Ronan was not in the palace for two days.

She got up from her sleep and covered her mouth in surprise. "I-I love King Ronan?"

"It seems for now it looks like that," replied Tania softly.

Arielle suddenly became panicked.

"Tania, what should I do?" asked the princess. She felt overwhelmed with her own feelings.

Tania thought for a moment. As someone who loved Arielle like her own daughter, Tania certainly wanted the best for Arielle. However, of course, letting the princess confess her feelings to King Ronan was not a good option.

What if the king already had a wife candidate and if he saw Arielle as just a friend? Then he might reject the girl’s feelings, and Arielle would spend the rest of her day in the North in sorrow? Tania obviously didn’t want that...

"I think it’s best to be your usual self, for now, Your Highness."

Ariel was silent. She thought carefully. Arielle didn’t want her friendship with the king to be awkward because of her feelings. It was true what Tania said. She didn’t have to confess her feelings because she would return to the South in the end.

Being friends was enough for Arielle. However, she suddenly remembered the kiss going on between her and Ronan. Arielle’s face turned red.

The girl went back to sleep in a hurry and covered her face with the blanket so Tania wouldn’t see her blushing face.

She didn’t hate their kiss at all. To be honest, Arielle liked it... the only problem was just because it was a new thing in her life, Arielle couldn’t process what was happening. Soon her mind suddenly went blank.

Arielle bit her lip as she tried to remember how Ronan’s lips touched hers gently. Her face then grew hotter, and even her ears now burned as she imagined how the man bit her lips and then played with her tongue.

"No friend kisses like that," Arielle grumbled quietly.

"Yes?" Tania asked what the girl was mumbling as she couldn’t hear clearly.

"Oh, it’s nothing, Tania. Sleep well because tomorrow we have to continue our journey," answered Arielle, all in an effort to distract Tania.

Tania smiled gently at Arielle then straightened the blanket that covered her master. She also didn’t forget to tidy up the princess’s white hair so it wouldn’t get tangled the next day.

"You too go to sleep soon, Your Highness," she said quietly.

Arielle nodded and closed her eyes. But after knowing what kind of feeling she was having, Arielle couldn’t fall asleep at all. She was too busy thinking about new possibilities and what she should do when she was near the king tomorrow.

Ronan watched his knights sleeping soundly on the floor wrapped only in sleeping bags. Although there were still three vacant rooms left, Ronan wasn’t used to sleeping on trips like this.

One of the three rooms was used by William. And the other two were divided between soldiers who wanted them.

The rest of them spent the night in the guest room of the inn, sleeping side by side near the fire. Namina, the priest apprentice who had come with them, fell into a deep sleep from exhaustion after warming up the entire room. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Ronan spent his time heightening his senses, especially his hearing. There were no suspicious sounds, only a few creaks of wood in the wind. There was also the sound of a wolf howling from a distance.

A soldier woke up and chose to sleep in a sitting position. Ronan, who saw that, smiled a little and closed his eyes again to sharpen his hearing.
