Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 68: Birthday Party Invitation For The King
Ronan could see an object was perched on top of Arielle’s head. It was a circle made clearly out of wood. It looked like a crown. His eyebrows rose when he saw Arielle happily opening her mouth to let a woman feed her a frostberry.
Damn, Ronan had almost forgotten that the girl was crazy about frostberries. And now he wondered, how much has Arielle consumed?
He had to finish his job as quickly as possible. No time should be wasted. Ronan immediately turned around and sat back in his chair again.
"Quickly tell me your reason for receiving aid from the West," said Ronan hurriedly. He didn’t have much time to listen to Duke Coley’s bullshit.
"The establishment of Frostmount Village as a commercial village will further open trade routes with the west, Your Majesty," Duke Coley replied quietly with a trembling voice.
"I agree, and even I intend to do so but not by emptying the village. No residents should be forced to move out of their homes," replied the king impatiently.
"Sorry for my impudence, Your Majesty. But we need a village with more advanced accommodation." 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Ronan moved the table in front of him, which made William and Duke Coley jump.
"Help empower and develop the village! Not expel them!" Ronan snapped.
Duke Coley lowered his head for a moment.
The king added, "This is my last warning Duke Coley. Once again, if you acted up, I will not hesitate to replace you. I’ll give you six months, and if you can’t advance the Village by empowering the people here, I’ll make sure you leave the North without a damn penny. I raised you from the gutter. And it’ll be very easy for me to return you to your original position."
Duke Coley swallowed hard. With trembling hands, he stretched his tie and nodded to soothe the king.
"I-I-I understand, Your Majesty," he stammered.
"Is there anything else?" asked Ronan sharply.
Duke Coley shook his head slowly, then William told the man to leave the room immediately. After the duke left, William stood silent in his place, as he waited for orders from the king. The next schedule was supposed to be to look into the conflict areas in the West.
"We have to solve the problem with the West. I’ll kill Coley if any northerner gets hurt by his actions."
Ronan grabbed his coat and walked out of the study. William followed immediately.
"Prepare my horse. I’m going to the backyard for a bit," Ronan ordered.
William knew that he could only say yes when the king was frustrated. He sighed inwardly. Well, at least seeing Princess Arielle should make the king feel less angry.
Maybe the princess could really make the king calmer? She’d help reduce the outburst of emotions of Ronan about this case.
Ronan left the room with large strides. In the manor’s corridors, a beautiful young woman sat on a sofa not far from Ronan’s study. Unfortunately for her, Ronan simply passed her by and didn’t even seem to notice her presence at all.
The woman in the yellow dress immediately got up and went after the king. Her eyes lit up at the sight of the king and there was a longing look on her face.
"Your Majesty!" she called out in despair at not being able to catch up with the king’s hasty pace.
Ronan paused for a moment, then turned around. He finally noticed the presence of the young lady. He clicked his tongue impatiently but kept waiting for the woman to approach him.
The woman in the yellow dress put on her best smile and walked over.
"Your Majesty, long time no see. How are you?" she said with her melodious voice.
"Good," said Ronan quickly.
"Glad to hear that you’re alright. Ah... I wanted to give this to you."
The woman held out a wax-sealed orange letter stamped with the Coley family’s crest. Ronan had seen the same letter a few days ago. That woman was Lady Fiona Coley, the eldest daughter of Duke Coley, whose existence was at stake.
Ronan admitted to himself that Fiona was a sweet and polite girl. Duke Coley always brought his daughter when there was a party at the royal palace. However, no matter how much Duke Coley tried to shove Fiona onto him, Ronan would never be interested in that woman.
"This is an invitation to my birthday party next week, Your Majesty. I thought you hadn’t received my letter yet, so I decided to bring it in person since you’re here," Fiona spoke with blushing cheeks.
Ronan accepted the invitation, but he had absolutely no interest in paying attention to the party of one of the daughters of a Duke. It would only allow unnecessary invitations to come in the future after they saw him attend one. They might think they could easily invite him to their frequent nonsense events.
"That’s it?" asked Ronan.
The woman was still smiling sweetly.
"Hm-hm, I was hoping you could attend my birthday party. It would be a godsend for us," she replied politely.
So uninteresting.
Fiona then smiled sheepishly. "Ah, how long will Your Majesty be staying here? If Your Majesty wishes to tour the area, I would be happy to show you some of the most scenic spots on Frostmount."
"No thanks. I’m quite busy, so you don’t have to come back here," Ronan replied flatly.
After he said those words, Ronan turned around and left Fiona alone, despite the fact she wanted to speak again. Unfortunately for him, Fiona did not give up as she went down the stairs and quickened her pace to call after the king again.
Suddenly, her steps came to a halt.
Her eyes widened and she felt betrayed when Ronan handed her birthday invitation letter to one of the knights, who stood guard near the manor door. The letter absolutely meant nothing to the king.
Fiona dashed towards the knight.
"GIVE IT BACK TO ME!" she snapped at the poor knight. Annoyed, Fiona snatched back the letter, clicked her tongue, and intended to give it back to the king.
"Your Majesty!" called Fiona again with panted breath. "Y-your Majesty...!"
This time, Ronan didn’t stop as he had no intention of listening to any more bullshit. He had reached his limit for the day.
