Chapter 92: Riel Likes Ronan More Than Arielle

Now Ronan turned to William, who had stopped laughing.

"Kael has already sorted out the mail for you with me. I was just adding some reports from some of the towns and villages there," the king’s assistant gave his report. He gave Ronan his letters.

Ronan accepted the letters and placed them on the table.

"Your Majesty, I am sorry for my rudeness. Are you uncomfortable with the animal? I can help you throw it back into the forest," Kael suggested.

The admiral recalled that last year, the king ordered William to drive the rabbits out of the palace grounds. So, seeing the small animal in this room, he thought the king wanted it gone.

"Who do you want to throw away? Riel?" asked Ronan and lifted the little rabbit in the palm of his hand. He even rubbed its white hair gently.

"Riel? Who is that?" Kael asked back. He looked around to see who the king called by the name Riel. he didn’t see anyone but the three of them.

The rabbit raised his ears when he saw a man staring at him intently. He jumped down from the king’s palm then snuggled into Ronan’s hand that rested on the table. Ronan plucked the rabbit up and placed it to rest on his shoulder.

The rabbit fit!

"I named this little animal Riel," answered Ronan proudly because he had tamed the rabbit.

"From now on, Riel will be the official animal in the Blackthorn palace," he added, which made William almost burst out laughing again.

"Why don’t you adopt a dog? It suits you better. Right, Kael?" asked William, who nudged Kael’s arm to invite him to join in laughing at the king. But Kael was always a serious person, so he couldn’t enjoy William’s weird humor.

"Not really. If that is the will of His Majesty to raise the rabbit as a pet, then we must respect the decision." Kael’s answer just now made Ronan smile behind his mask. Meanwhile, William clearly showed his disappointed expression.

"If you have nothing more to say, I’ll take a break," William said curtly.

Ronan grabbed the papers William had brought and left his two best friends. With Riel on his shoulders, Ronan returned to his room and lay down on the bed.

The next morning, Arielle started her day and made breakfast in the kitchen. The four rabbits were left in the room with Tania to rest. Since they’ve returned to the palace, Arielle started her routine, as usual, she made breakfast and studied with the king after.

Arielle pushed the trolley filled with food and walked to the king’s study. She didn’t forget to greet some of the servants or knights she passed by. When she arrived at Ronan’s study, Arielle knocked first. After she got permission from the king to enter his room, Arielle opened the door to start her work.

"Good morning, Your Majesty. I brought you breakfast," Arielle said as she pushed her food trolley inside. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Arielle looked cheerful that morning, which made Ronan’s mood better. The girl then put some plates on the table, which was located not far from the fireplace. Arielle stood up to look for her other bunny.

"Are you looking for this?" asked Ronan, when he noticed Arielle was glancing around his room.

The man lifted the white furry animal from his lap and placed it onto the table. Arielle smiled in relief. All night she was quite worried about the condition of the little rabbit.

She was worried that the rabbit would damage the things in the king’s room. Arielle’s worries seemed unfounded. The small rabbit pressed against Ronan’s palm and the man replied to the creature’s affection and brushed his white fur.

She smiled at the closeness of the two.

"It’s not littering, is it?’ asked Arielle.

"William cleaned it," said Ronan casually.

Arielle widened her eyes with a gasp when the little rabbit jumped from the king’s table. The table was too high for the little rabbit, Arielle was worried that the rabbit would get hurt if he fell from that height.

Arielle immediately approached to check the condition of the rabbit, but it turned out that the rabbit was curled up on the lap of the king. The girl sighed in relief and patted her chest in surprise.

"Huft... you just make me worry," said Arielle, relieved. "I am so glad you are okay."

Arielle now turned to the king, who chuckled softly.

"May I bring it back?" asked the girl as she approached.

"This rabbit?" Ronan was a little unsure. The two had spent the night together. However, if Arielle wanted her bunny back, Ronan would give it back.

"Hmm, please," she replied.

Arielle stretched out her hand, and Ronan placed Riel on the princess’s palm. The girl became speechless when the rabbit refused to come with her. The rabbit chose to jump onto the king’s body, which made the man laugh.

"Good boy, good boy," he complimented Riel.

"Why?" asked Arielle, who just felt the rejection of an animal for the first time in her life.

Arielle still tried her best to get Ronan to return the rabbit. But the white furry ball always left Arielle and returned to the king’s arms. Arielle’s feelings became conflicted.

She was happy to see Ronan being able to get close to an animal, but she was also sad that the bunny didn’t like her anymore.

Ronan, who saw Arielle’s sad face, got up from his chair. He reached out to her and grabbed her hand. Riel was resting on his left arm, and so he pulled Arielle with his right hand to sit on the sofa.

"Let’s have breakfast first," he said.

Arielle then opened the tray cover. Ronan was surprised to see the glass of milk made its comeback. It seemed he had to immediately tell the girl about his distaste for milk.

"Let’s have breakfast first, then start by learning to read again. After that, you have to practice writing," he told her.

Arielle nodded in understanding. "Okay, Your Majesty."
