Chapter 96: Arielle’s Hesitation

"What are you saying?" asked the king. He felt his time with Arielle was disturbed by this piece of stupid news.

William saw Ronan’s uncomfortable expression. The man had taken off his mask so that William no longer had to guess at what expression Ronan was making. Those two knitted brows clearly conveyed displeasure.

"The Nieverdell Royal Carriage, carrying Crown Prince Alexis as well as Princess Andrea, was seen passing through the gates of the Capital. They said they only wanted to visit Princess Arielle."

Arielle stiffened when she heard the names of her two eldest siblings. Her body shuddered at the thought of being confronted by the two people who disliked her the most. Was the purpose of these two really visiting her? Maybe they brought a substitute wolf to bring Arielle home.

Arielle didn’t like the idea of her coming back. If indeed they had found a pair of wolves, wouldn’t that mean there were still a few more months until the wolves gave birth?

Tania once said that a wolf’s gestation period was two months, but why did her two older siblings come to the North?

Could it be that her family found another wolf that had just given birth? Arielle thought frantically.

Ronan got up and was silent for a moment. He didn’t like the situation where he had to wonder about the main purpose of King Hugo’s two children visiting the North. Ronan didn’t want Arielle’s desire to return to the South to get even more passionate.

"You want to say hello to your two siblings?" asked Ronan. He didn’t dare turn to look at Arielle.

The girl didn’t know what to do. She stared at William for a moment, but the man just silently watched the king.

"Y-Yeah, I think... so," Arielle answered doubtfully.

Ronan reached out his hand, and Arielle took it. Arielle had no idea what Ronan was planning. The man didn’t seem bothered by the arrival of her two siblings, unlike Arielle, who was panicking.

Arielle walked beside the king while she carried the book as well as Riel in her hand. William turned to walk behind the two.

"Your Majesty, maybe I’ll go back to my room first. I want to tell this news to Tania," Arielle said when the two arrived at the door of the king’s study.

Arielle gave Riel to the king, then turned around with quick steps and left Ronan with William. Even though Ronan himself had not given permission, the girl had just walked away.

"Do you think she liked that she’s being visited by her siblings?" asked Ronan in an annoyed tone.

"I think so, Your Majesty," William replied which made the king’s mood even worse.

Arielle ran quickly from the Blackthorn palace. She returned to her room but did not find Tania there. Bothered, Arielle ran again to find Tania. Coincidentally she met Lucas, who left a room.

"Lucas, have you seen Tania?" asked Arielle hastily.

"Oh, this morning, I saw her walking towards the Cathedral."

"Thank you, Lucas!" shouted Arielle, who immediately left the man just like that.

Arielle ran from Whitethorn Palace to the Cathedral. She didn’t even see Namina and Priest Jill who greeted her as she rushed past them. She quickly climbed the stairs and then up to where the blessing hall was.

The blessing hall looked empty.

But there was only one person there, and that person was no other than Tania.

"Tania!" called Arielle breathlessly.

When she saw Tania, it made Arielle breathe a sigh of relief. The girl approached with huffing breaths that made Tania worried.

"What is it, Your Highness? Why do you look exhausted like this?" asked Tania as she approached the princess. Tania helped Arielle to stand up straight and then brought her to sit on one of the benches.

Arielle took a deep breath and then exhaled slowly. She tried to control her heartbeat and breathing before conveying the news to Tania.

"Tania... I have news."

"Yes?"

"William told me that Alexis and Andrea are coming here to visit me. Tania... What should I do?"

Arielle was really worried. Of all her siblings, Arielle’s two eldest siblings were very intimidating, and Tania knew about Arielle’s fear of her two siblings.

Arielle always hid if her older sister, Andrea accidentally ran into the two of them. Tania also always gave reasons if her siblings invited Arielle to eat together or to a party.

"Your Highness, calm down. I’m sure they won’t dare to be intimidating here. You’ll be fine," said Tania hugging the princess.

Arielle was also sure that her two siblings would not do that. Neither of them really intimidated her in public. There was something else that worried Arielle. Namely, what if the two of them have brought a replacement wolf and wanted to bring Arielle home today as well?

Arielle hadn’t even had a chance to express her feelings to the king yet. What if the king no longer considered her a friend and preferred to be friends with her two siblings?

Alexis and Andrea were two charismatic people. Both were so easy to make friends with. And if King Ronan preferred her two siblings, then Arielle couldn’t do anything.

The girl bit her thumb in concern. Tania touched the princess’s hand and cupped Arielle’s nervous face.

"What are you worried about, Your Highness?" asked Tania softly.

"I... I was just worried if...." Arielle was a little unsure about how to talk about her worries. Tania waited patiently until Arielle really wanted to talk. "Ah, it’s okay, Tania. I’m just worried about Brother Alexis and Sister Andrea who came so suddenly," answered Arielle, she lied to cover her true anxiety.

Tania knew that the princess was lying. Although, she didn’t want to force Arielle to keep talking if she was uneasy. Tania invited Arielle to leave the Cathedral.

"At least you should wear nice clothes to welcome your two siblings," said Tania in a soft voice.

Arielle decided to follow Tania’s advice. She wore a white dress paired with a white fur coat. Tania helped Arielle comb her hair. Some of her hair was tied in a small bun, and the rest was left loose and framed her face.

"Isn’t this a bit too much?" asked Arielle when she saw her reflection in the mirror.

Tania smirked. "Of course not, Your Majesty. Your two siblings should know that you are treated so well in the North. So they will think twice about cornering you," replied Tania. She was proud to see the princess’s beauty that was properly nurtured here.

Even so, Arielle still felt unsure.

There was a knock on the door, and Lucas said that King Ronan wanted to see the princess.

Arielle thanked Tania. Before she left her room, she watched the rabbits sleeping soundly. It calmed Arielle a little and took away her nervousness.

Arielle met the king in the main hall. Ronan was amazed by Arielle’s presence, who looked different that afternoon. Arielle wore a more beautiful dress.

Her white hair was complimented and mixed in with the color of her dress and coat. It made her black irises stand out, and her lips were redder than usual. The blush on her cheeks looked even redder.

Arielle looked very breathtaking and it made Ronan not want to leave the girl alone.
