Chapter 83 - 83 : Wanda & Wanda

"Finn, who were you there with?"

"In an ancient book, I found out about..."

Wanda's voice echoed through the grand library, her high heels clicking against the polished floor as she approached. But then, her voice abruptly stopped, and she froze, staring blankly at the two figures before her.

Her beautiful and delicate face turned rigid, and the warmth in her eyes faded into an icy glare. "What are you doing?"

"Witch, listen to my explanation."

Finn turned his head to meet Wanda's piercing gaze and hurriedly pushed away the fake Wanda, who was clinging to him.

Then, he quickly took several steps back, retreating toward his Wanda.

"Can't you see it?"

The counterfeit Wanda leaned against a towering bookshelf, her loose hair slightly covering part of her striking face, exuding an air of effortless confidence.

Her eyes, like deep scarlet gemstones, locked onto the real Wanda's with a provocative smirk. The slight curl of her lips was both challenging and seductive.

"Witch, don't listen to her nonsense. I didn't even have time to react when she suddenly appeared just now."

Finn stood between the two, deliberately not stepping directly behind his Wanda.

Because he was worried—worried about how far his Wanda would go in her jealousy-fueled rage. He knew better than to underestimate what she was capable of.

Even when facing herself from another universe, she showed no mercy.

"Finn, I'm not stupid."

Wanda rolled her eyes, unimpressed.

Deep down, she knew Finn's character well enough to understand he wouldn't do something like this willingly.

But still, the sight of another woman—another her—embracing Finn left a bitter taste in her mouth.

"It seems you've learned to be smarter."

The alternate Wanda let out a cold chuckle. "Do you still remember what I told you last time?"

Hearing this, Wanda was taken aback for a moment. As if sharing the same mind, both versions of Wanda immediately realized what the other meant.

Her tone was firm. "You don't need to worry about my business. I can protect my own."

"Your business?"

The other Wanda's eyes flashed with mockery as she turned her gaze toward Finn and whispered, "Finn, that's not what you said when you held me just now."

"?"

Finn, standing awkwardly between them, looked utterly confused.

When did he ever say something like that?

He met the fake Wanda's affectionate gaze and inwardly cursed.

The counterfeit Wanda was a master manipulator.

Too good at pretending!

"Finn, come here."

Wanda's irritation flared, and she stepped forward, grabbing Finn by the arm and yanking him toward her.

It's not that she was selfish or overly possessive.

But the thought of someone else—another her—embracing Finn made her stomach churn.

"I—"

Finn allowed himself to be pulled toward Wanda without resistance.

However, in the next second—

A soft, pale hand grasped his other arm, holding onto him tightly, refusing to let go.

"Sorry, no."

It was the fake Wanda, her grip unwavering.

"Wanda, I'm warning you one last time. Let go, or I won't be responsible for what happens next."

Finn took a deep breath. Until now, he had restrained himself because she resembled his Wanda so much, and they had no direct enmity.

He also understood the tragic past this Wanda had endured, and he had some sympathy for her.

That was why he hadn't acted against her yet—his plan was simply to send her back to her own universe.

But now, things were spiraling out of control.

"Do you really have the heart to hurt me?"

The alternate Wanda's voice remained calm, her expression unreadable as she stared at Finn.

Her scarlet eyes shimmered with an eerie glow, pulsating with power.

It reached deep into Finn's mind, touching something primal.

That was the strange and dangerous effect of her chaos magic—it could influence the emotions of nearly anyone in existence.

"You..."

Finn met her gaze, and a powerful force surged into his heart. It disturbed him, softened him, because he could feel the raw, unfiltered emotions behind her words.

"Finn, move!"

At that moment, Wanda's voice rang out behind him, sharp and urgent.

A surge of scarlet energy erupted.

The dimly lit library was suddenly illuminated by the violent glow. The books on the towering shelves trembled under the force, and space itself twisted and fractured under the sheer intensity of Wanda's power.

Ancient tomes crashed to the ground as if fleeing the impending battle.

Boom!

"Witch, calm down!"

Finn snapped out of it, stepping aside just in time to see Wanda's expression darken as she spread her fingers, unleashing a powerful magic blast.

A mighty gust of energy swept through the library.

Whoosh!

Books flew from their shelves, caught in the raging wind. Ancient texts scattered through the air like autumn leaves in a storm.

"So impatient."

The alternate Wanda sneered and lifted her arm effortlessly, absorbing the incoming attack.

"Absorbing magic..."

Wanda's eyes narrowed in recognition.

That power—it came from the Darkhold.

"You're not the only one who has studied the Darkhold."

The other Wanda's voice was cold, her palm pushing outward.

The beam she had absorbed was now hurled back, but this time, it was amplified—stronger, faster, deadlier.

The library shook as the sheer force sent bookshelves crashing down in a domino effect.

"Hey, Witch..."

Finn felt the chaotic power surging through the air. Before he could react, the beam streaked toward him.

Wanda swiftly countered with a wave of her left hand, summoning a portal behind her.

In the blink of an eye, she disappeared.

An instant later, she reappeared to the side, her right hand glowing with scarlet energy as she conjured chains of magic from thin air, lashing them toward her counterpart.

But the alternate Wanda was ready. Her icy gaze flickered red as she lifted her left hand.

A misty, crimson barrier formed before her, stopping the chains in their tracks.

"Damn..."

Wanda bit her lip in frustration, her fingers curling as she gathered more energy.

Once again, she fired a blast.

"Why bother?"

The alternate Wanda was unfazed, already raising her hand to counter it.

Boom!

The moment their powers collided, a storm of scarlet energy erupted between them.

The library lights flickered wildly before shattering from the impact.

"You two need to stop. Now!"

Finn stepped between them, his expression firm.

He had to prevent them from tearing the library apart any further.

Stephen had warned him before leaving—specifically telling him not to destroy the library.

And now, within less than half an hour, it was nearly in ruins.

"Are you helping me... or her?"

The alternate Wanda's voice was laced with suspicion.

"I think you both need to calm down. There's no need for this."

Finn exhaled sharply, his gaze serious as he looked at the alternate Wanda.

It wasn't that he was taking sides.

But the way she had fought just now—it felt like she had surpassed what was seen in the original Doctor Strange conflict.

Yet she hadn't actually hurt his Wanda.

That made Finn hesitate.

"Finn, if you're not going to help me, then at least don't stand in my way."

Wanda's voice was tense.

The moment she finished speaking—

Whoosh!

She vanished, and in the next instant, she reappeared at the alternate Wanda's flank, her eyes blazing with power.

The next second, the library, which had finally been calm for a moment, fell into chaos once more.

A battle between magic wielders is usually a dazzling sight—this was especially true for the two witches. In just a single breath, the space was filled with brilliant red light, pulsating with raw magical energy.

Condensed manifestations of various mystical forces took form—wings of pure energy, sharp conjured blades, demonic claws, and the howling of summoned creatures echoed throughout the room.

The entire building trembled violently. Bookshelves shattered, sending books cascading into heaps, some torn and others left in disarray.

Luckily, the protective enchantments of the Sanctum held strong, preventing the building from being completely obliterated. If it were any ordinary structure, it would have collapsed long ago.

Amidst the chaos, Finn struggled to find an opening to intervene. The two looked identical, making it nearly impossible to tell them apart.

Having spent so much time with the witch, this was the first time Finn had ever seen her so enraged.

And if even he couldn't talk her down, that meant she was truly furious.

Hovering in mid-air, Wanda's clone smirked. "You're too weak. How do you expect to protect Finn like this?"

The real Wanda barely deflected the next attack, gritting her teeth. "I said, don't worry about it!"

Ever since yesterday, the words of her other self and the pain she had witnessed in her doppelgänger's heart had haunted her. The wounds ran deep. She feared that whatever had happened to "herself" might happen to her too.

Wanda's clone tilted her head slightly, eyes gleaming with insight. "Are you sure?" She had read Wanda like an open book.

As the saying goes, know yourself and know your enemy, and you will never be defeated. And who would know her better than herself?

The clone's smile widened. "Don't you want to know how he escaped?"

Wanda's eyes narrowed, scrutinizing her opponent's expression. If she lied, she would be able to tell instantly.

"Will you tell me?"

"Nope." The clone chuckled at Wanda's momentary hesitation, clearly enjoying the torment.

"You—!" Wanda fumed, her chest rising and falling in frustration. Though her clone hadn't actually said anything, the smug amusement was infuriating.

"Tsk, you really are me from before—too naive, too weak."

Scarlet energy erupted from the clone's hands, intertwining and forming an intricate, massive net that expanded to cover the entire library. The power in the room surged, making the second floor tremble as if on the verge of collapse.

Wanda's face paled slightly under the oppressive force. She recognized the dark magic at work—it was a spell from the Darkhold.

Yet compared to her opponent, she felt like a mere beginner.

As the massive net descended, threatening to engulf everything in its path, a cold voice cut through the chaos.

"Enough."

A swirling mass of black mist surged forward like a tidal wave, instantly condensing into the shape of a massive dragon. The oppressive darkness clashed violently with the scarlet net, shattering it into fragments of dissipating energy.

The sheer force of the impact sent Wanda's clone flying backward into a mountain of books.

"Finn!" Wanda turned to see him standing tall, and before she knew it, she had rushed to his side, seeking the comfort of his presence like a child who had found their protector.

Finn reached out, gently pinching her pale cheek with a soft look of concern. "You never listen, do you? Now you know what fear feels like?"

Wanda lowered her head and mumbled, "Well, if you had helped me sooner..."

"I told you to calm down. You both look identical—how was I supposed to tell you apart?" Finn sighed. "Even your clothes are the same, and your moves too."

"She copied my style!" Wanda huffed.

The books rustled as the fallen clone staggered to her feet, brushing dust from her crimson outfit. Her gaze lingered on Finn, filled with something almost akin to admiration. "Finn... you're stronger than him."

She wasn't referring to Wanda. She meant another Finn.

Finn narrowed his eyes. "So you knew I wasn't him all along."

"Of course." The clone took a deep breath, struggling to suppress the emotions in her red-tinged eyes. "I could forget the past and start over with you. Can't you give me a chance?"

"Sorry," Finn said firmly, tightening his grip on Wanda's hand. "I already have a witch."

Wanda visibly relaxed, letting out a quiet breath she hadn't realized she was holding.

The clone's gaze darkened. "You know... I could kill her and make sure there's only one Wanda in this world."

The temperature in the library plummeted as she spoke, her devastated expression laced with menace.

But before Finn could respond, she continued, "Yet I haven't. Think about what that means."

With those parting words, she vanished in a swirl of scarlet mist, leaving nothing but silence in her wake.

Wanda turned to Finn, confused. "What did she mean by that?"

"Nothing good," Finn muttered, pushing the thought aside. "Just nonsense."

Wanda furrowed her brows. "She wasn't all bad, was she? She never tried to actually kill me. If anything, she spent the entire fight teaching me... guiding me."

"Who knows what she's thinking?" Finn sighed, glancing around at the wreckage. "Honestly, I don't even understand what's going on in your head half the time. Figuring her out is another level of impossible."

"Hmph! You can't even figure me out, and you're worried about her?" Wanda shot him a glare.

Finn smirked. "Maybe I just need one more step to fully understand you."

Wanda's face instantly turned red. "What last step—" She cut herself off, eyes widening. "You better not twist my words!"

Finn chuckled at her flustered reaction, ruffling her hair. "Alright, let's focus on fixing this place before Stephen sees it."

Wanda sighed, taking in the wrecked library. "Yeah... we need to clean this up."

As Finn debated which spell to use, Wanda suddenly shifted closer, voice soft. "Finn."

"Yeah?"

She hesitated for a moment before murmuring, "I think we can take that last step."

Finn froze, then his face lit up. "Wait, really? Right now? I'll book a hotel—"

"Not now!" Wanda turned scarlet, glaring at him. "And don't act so eager!"

Finn chuckled, his amusement only growing. "Alright, alright."

Wanda huffed, crossing her arms. "Let's deal with the multiverse mess first. I don't want to be interrupted that day."

Finn smiled. "Fair enough. But, uh, what made you say that all of a sudden?"

"Don't ask." Wanda groaned, her face still burning. "Ask again and I'll take it back."

"Fine, fine. Let's get to work."

Wanda sighed in relief before smirking slightly. "Finn, are you sure you can fix all this?"

"Of course. There's magic for object restoration—if the damage isn't absolute, we can fix it."

Wanda blinked. "When did you learn that?"

"Just now. I saw a spell in one of the books. Figured it out in a glance."
