Master Of None-Chapter 2588. Traveling Maps
Chapter 2588: 2588. Traveling Maps
With a few copies of the current research status on the ruins in his high spatial storage, Walker returned to Genesis with Alma. The pair were glad to know a little more about the ruins and also about how the guards in an area around a bridge to the elemental planes were fairing.
It appeared that some of them had gained a little more benefits than what they had expected.
The denser mana of certain forms was a reaction to the guards and mages stationed there with matching affinities. It has allowed for some random breakthroughs in understanding. One guard who had always known he had a very small wind affinity found that he gained a quest to realize the true potential of his wind affinity.
The quest he gained had allowed him to pursue learning about wind mana as a whole. While the guard’s natural affinity was still small, it was enough for him to learn to use the wind mana he could pull in to his body wisely. The ability to boost his speed in attacking and defending was good.
All this would be insignificant to someone who had a naturally high rewind affinity with skills that were already applicable. However, to someone who did not use their affinity ever because it was thought to be too small to even have a benefit, this was spectacular. He would not only be able to work better as a guard, but potentially be able to use it to get a promotion to lead more guards since he was already within an important assignment guarding the bridge to the elemental planes.
This just showed a difference to Walker though, he would be able to make note of changes within those with weaker elemental affinities due to being exposed to denser manas. It was the same that happened with exposure to space mana.
Many within his party had already gained the skills to use a small spatial storage or a unique version that worked better with their classes. Su was one who specifically had brought some achieved spatial affinity to her class when she completed a quest. She could equip her different shields and armor without any issue since they were stored in a unique spatial storage just for them.
If more people were exposed to manas that they had affinities for, no matter how weak the elemental affinity, then they could learn to use them. Even people without affinities might have them and they couldn’t even register them. Let alone those who were exposed to certain manas like space which could be gained from exposure. That was an entire theory that would need to be tested and understood over generations.
Nothing that Walker could push himself in to studying. It would take a lot more energy and time than what he could give without leaving other things to suffer. That would be unfair to everyone else who needed his assistance.
As Alma was met by her attendants, Gil even came running up to begin speaking with her. He had managed to accomplish quite a few tasks related to the elves and even some projects that had been ongoing where he had arrived to assist. He gave Walker a knowing nod since he knew very well that he would see Walker working in the mapping hall. Otherwise there would be a larger influx of whatever mapping information began to circulate over the next week or so.
Walker made a quick move to drop off the information he had gotten and then went right to the mapping hall.
When he walked in, he noticed a quick hush fall over the entire hall. It seemed that many people had been waiting for him. What he was even more surprised about was that Mordant and Rise were there. Both had been in the middle of organizing who to send where and what groups needed more help right now.
"Both of you are working hard it seems."
"Hard? Do you know how much you have missed? We needed to gather several mages specifically in tune with natural mana flow of earth mana, wind mana, and even two for water mana since you have mapped areas with those aspects. There are also people here who have been setting up records archives for the maps we make. You didn’t think it would all magically happen? Did you?"
Of all the reactions, Rise was reprimanding Walker? He looked at Mordant who just seemed to be nodding along. "We have been here ensuring that the best of the best are here. We have seven of the demi-humans with unique sensory traits working on noticing the minute differences in terrain so that we can make note of what might be occurring in each of the territories and fields. Did you know we have a small corn mite infestation? We almost lost a months worth of sun corn."
Now Walker was seeing a new aspect of the grand global map that they were using. There was the ability to hyper focus on crops and have specific sensory mages check on different crops. The farmers might not have even noticed the mites since he knew that some of them were so small that they wouldn’t be visible until they were too large of a problem within a field. Hence why some fields were put in to isolation at times.
"Well, we have one bridge with a small mapping ord, I see you expanded a few more out in to the distant territories and even along a few of the main merchant routes. I assume you will have your elder dragons working on bringing mapping orbs to every major city and then to villages? That leaves me to keep working on the bridges?" Walker’s teasing tone made both rise and Mordant pause before they both smiled and welcomed him back.
’Second Link: Balance- completed
Requirements:
Assist the manas within various areas to flow more smoothly.
Instruct others to take up quests to discover lands where mana has stagnated.
Learn and map the shifting of the elemental planes around the world.’
It seemed that having the one bridge mapped and the process of mapping all of them were enough to complete the quest. This was good for them since Walker was sure he would need to focus on more aspects of the world mapping as part of his quests overall.
Looking at the rewards, Walker watched as the existence system explained everything.
Rewards:
World resonance with all manas.
Small enlightenment in mixing mana understanding.
Small enhancement of the quest granter skill.’
’Resonance with world manas will increase more efficiently due to the world accepting you as one with can grant quests on its behalf.’
The connection seemed that Walker was being tested by the will of the world with the new quest granting skill. It wasn’t just that he had been watched but that he had been somewhat blacked in some unique uses of manas potentially. It would be interesting to see if his meditation or manipulation of elemental manas changed at all in the coming days.
’Enlightenment in mana mixing will occur when in meditation.’
Another reward that would come later, but this was normal since he had to be in a state where he focused on the manas around him and in the world in the first place.
’Quest granter skill has been improved slightly to allow for traveling races from the elemental planes to be able to accept small short term quests for immediate rewards with penalties if they do not complete the quest since they have already received the rewards in advance.’
This was a good sign. Walker could give small quotes like communicating with others or bringing letters. It would be paid forward allowing him to just await the completion of the quest without having to go back and reward someone later.
’Third Link: travelers’ balance
Requirement:
Open travel to the elemental planes
Assist the wanderers in understanding the dangers of the world and the dangers of the elemental planes.
Increase the mapping of the world
Reward:
Resistance skill training manuals freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
Herbal knowledge to increase resistance potion creation
Enhancement of quest granter skill.’
"I will be working on getting more mapping orbs to the bridges soon, I just want to observe the grand map for a little while and see if I can do better as I travel." Walker looked at Mordant and Rise and didn’t say a word. Both appeared to be much more energetic and excited than usual. Their work here might have been enough to spark a rivalry or just bring them new foals.
None of which was bad. He also could tell they had been finding the best of the best to work here. That was more than enough for himself when it came to the future of the mapping hall.
