Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 284: The Haunting Realization [2]
[KAIA]
’Fuck, what should I do now?’ Kaia asked himself as he paced in the guestroom he had been sleeping in for the past months. It was comfortable and he didn’t have any complaints, but today he wasn’t feeling comfortable at all.
He felt like his world was coming apart and someone was forcing themselves in. He felt like his world no longer revolved around his brother alone but that there was someone new, a subject he wasn’t familiar with and it was crazy.
It was disturbing and the fact that he had been unable to pin the person was fucking with his mind. It shouldn’t have been this hard. It shouldn’t have been this challenging, considering the things he could ask and the powers he had.
Maybe I could go to Haru,’ Kaia thought to himself and he heard a snort so close like the person had heard his thoughts.
It was like someone else was with him in the room and it was weird. So he looked around and tried to figure out if it was true, or if his mind was just playing long games with him. This was a challenge he needed to save but goodness it was driving him crazy.
Perhaps there was a way out of this but then what could that be? Or even where? Everyone in Incayon wouldn’t even dare mess with him like this, not even the misfits so it just didn’t make any sense.
After a whole search and turning the guest room upside down, Kaia figured that he needed to stop trying to find the impossible. It didn’t matter what he did because there was no one here with him.
So he used magic to return the room to what it had once been, only to hear the voice scolding him again. What sort of fuckery was this? It was insane and wasn’t what he wanted to play. But he needed to be patient and figure out what the fuck it was.
"If you tell Haru, he will feel played and might lock you out again. He might be mad at you for not telling him that there was a pliability of your beloved and we both know what happens when Haruhito is angry.
"But if you still want to go on with it, who am I to stop you, yeah?" the voice asked and Kaia was sick of it already. However before he could growl, he felt a painful hitch in his chest before a figure materialized before him.
It was huge, a beast that he had never seen.
It had yellow stripes and looked warm and kind, the yellow stripes were the only thing that Kaia needed to know that this was a familiar best, way too familiar and yet still messing with his brains.
It was Haru’s beast, the one he had offered to carry so his brother would have peace. That was a decision that Kaia Seto had never once regretted and right now he was more confused than he was ever going to admit.
"Jaharu?"Kaia asked as he stared at the beast.
The last time he had seen Jaharu was when he was removing the beast from Haru. It was the first and last time, but that beast did leave an impression on Kaia. Perhaps that’s why he wasn’t even as shocked to see him right now.
But goddamn, this was crazy.
It didn’t make any sense to him, but a lot hadn’t made any sense since he had come to Incayon and agreed to help Rania with her vengeance. It was a challenge he had agreed to take on, but it had grown to be one that he was sure was crazier than anything he had ever set his eyes on.
Frankly, other than him and his brother, Kaia had never met a woman so angry that she was willing to burn down the kingdom and people like they were disposable. Well some people sure were, but Rania’s anger was something else.
The anger was more than what Kaia had imagined and he knew then that he had to help her. There just had to be a reason for Rani to be that angry and if this was Kaia’s additional ticket to a hell he would ever come from, then he was more than willing to hop on it.
After all, he knew so well what that intensity of anger could do.
According to him, Rania’s soul could be saved, unlike his which was probably going to be reduced to a thousand different pieces once his purpose was over. But did Kaisei Seto care about what would ever happen to him?
"Yes, it’s me in the flesh, even if it’s just for a moment. You were whining a lot and Jahiro, your very uncultured beast was considering going on a rampage. I guess my peace offering was accepted if I’m the one that came out.
"Anyways, before you start going around sniffing again, you need to know something. And the sniffing was stupid, my nose is blocked," Jaharu said and Kaia just let out a low laugh.
This beast was caring and this was more than he had expected from a beast that only ever knew to feed on humans and wolves.
It was crazy, on so many levels but right now as he was struggling with accepting everything he was facing, Kaia had to admit that Jaharu and his kindness felt like home.
He knew this beast would understand him even if the situation were dire. It didn’t matter that he felt a lot of things at least this time, other than talking to Haru, Jaharu had been a better choice for him.
"Why are you out?" Kaia asked and Jaharu laughed at him this time. It was like he was listening to a question that was absurd on so many levels. But then Kaisei was done worrying about what would come.
Perhaps this beast would get him the answers he needed right? After all, he couldn’t have come out then, right?
"Is that really what you want to ask me, Hiro? Are you sure this is what you need answers for?" Jaharu asked and Kaia sighed. This was never going to be easy but what else could Kaia do when he himself was at a crossroads?
"Fine, who is my beloved? My humanity switch flipped back on and we both know that only a new beloved can do that. I just don’t understand. I am cursed to be the loneliest creature. I am meant to be more beast than man and everyone knows that.
"Giving me a beloved is crazy. I don’t know whether he or she will be able to deal with me and everything. Not to mention there’s a chance my beloved would reject me. Why is it so hard for everyone to let me live just for Haru?
"It should be that hard, no? It’s not like the eternity my brother and I were cursed with could have loopholes. I just don’t get it, and it’s frustrating so much, especially right this instant. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"What the fuck is this even supposed to mean for me and whoever the beloved is?" Kaia ranted as he paced around. He didn’t know what to do and it was eating him up.
His whole life he only ever had one mission to protect his brother. And now that was under a threat and he was getting worked up about it. It was insane and this shit wasn’t fair.
But what if there was a way around this would he ever be able to face that kind of truth for himself?
"This is interesting. Jahiro should come out and see this," Jaharu said and Kaia rolled his eyes at the idea.
It wasn’t what Kaia had in mind but if his beast, his uncultured, untrained, very dangerous, and extremely volatile beast was let out, there was a chance that Rania’s birthday would be ruined and that was too cruel a thing that Kaia himself could not happen.
He would protect Rania and keep his promise and no matter what happened or even how this would get, he would keep his promise.
"You’re not answering me, Jaharu. I thought you came out here to help me. But if you’re not going to. You might as well come back in and let me keep going at my crazy theories."
"You are cursed, but you do have a beloved because the goddess finally found a use for your brutality, Hiro," Jaharu said softly as she looked at the man before him.
