Chapter 286: He Lived, For His Brother

[KAIA]

The warriors had a duty, a responsibility to make sure that anyone who left Incayon, did so through the right channels.

Incayon was no prison, but there were protocols in place, things that had to be followed for the easy running of the kingdom, and a woman running in the night was certainly not one of their greatest achievements.

Perhaps that was also why Raqeeb’s first instinct was to shoot down the perpetrators, after all, it wasn’t daily that this happened.

"I’m only going to say this once. Stand down and stop running or I will be forced to kill you," Raqeeb warned, but Rania’s fear and desperation weren’t about to let her listen. She couldn’t even understand what Raqeeb was saying.

So he shot a spear at her leg, before he rushed to meet her halfway, his sword slicing through her stomach, making her fall to the ground, dead.

Kim Rania of Incayon, was dead.

There were no heartbeats that could be heard and that itself was a win for Al-Raqeeb. He had once again managed to prove that he was the best of Kaia’s warriors.

He was here, doing his job as something that he had been made for and frankly, it made him feel like they were closer to the end goal.

To free Rania of her anger while helping her with her vengeance.

However, would that be possible at that moment?

Would it ever work out after this, or was this just another unfortunate occurrence, one that they couldn’t tell apart?

"Check the body," Raqeeb said to one of his warriors who had come to help him with capturing Yanna, but before they could do or say another word, there was a loud blast that saw them benignly thrown in different directions as the moon shone even brighter in the night.

It was so intense that the warriors who had been thrown away found themselves miles and miles away from where they had been at the gates.

The whole of incayon shook as the walls rumbled loudly. The dungeons felt the impact too and more than anything, the woe of nations was awake.

The warriors and the wolves were all keeping their distance worried that whoever the woman was, had to have been the worst of the words. It was so unexpected and for a moment, the hybrids wondered if that was what would happen if any of them got killed at war.

They wondered if the blast would come from them too. It was so chaotic even as there was a long whirring sound that came from where ’Yanna’ was lying.

"Shit," Raqeeb said when he found himself a little too far. He couldn’t feel his bones break and he had a few scratches on him. This wasn’t what he had expected and certainly not what he had imagined would be possible.

Yanna had to be a really strong and powerful woman if she could do that and for a moment, Raqeeb wondered if this was how his life ended. Everything just didn’t make any sense and the fact that today was to be a happy one when the sun came up, it was just chaotic.

Jahiro, who had gone to look for Haru had seen his brother running towards an explosion that had just occurred.

The blast was so strong, but Jaharu wasn’t fazed by it, because he was stronger, more powerful, so much so that winds weren’t a thing that could worry him. Jahiro, the uncultured, was so confident that he held onto his brother, and made sure that Haru was okay.

And once the dust from the blast had settled, Jahiro could only worry for his brother.

For a moment, he set aside the thought that he had a beloved that he was to look for. He was currently holding the most important person to him, in his arms and he’d be damned, he didn’t want to make a choice.

"Are you okay, Haru? I swear I’ll kill them if you are hurt," Jahiro said angrily and that was all it took for Haru to know that his brother had let his beats take over. It was not what Haru had thought of at the moment and he was worried.

"Jahiro? What the fuck happened to the both of you?" Haru asked and the beast just checked his brother out like he was determined to make sure Haru was okay. That was the one thing he lived for anyway.

"Jeez, I’m okay. Why are you the one in control?" Haru asked and Jahiro was confused about telling the truth, but he knew that Haru wasn’t going to be ready to face that truth. It was one that haunted even Jahiro himself and he couldn’t let that transpire.

The truth is like a weapon that was slicing through them and he hated it, at least in this particular instance anyway.

"Kaisei’s humanity is off, and I am always the one in charge when that happens. Don’t worry, I will not leave your side, and I will protect you with everything. But first, I need to fuck up someone.

"How dare they try to hurt you?" Jahiro, the uncultured, said as he walked in the direction where the blast had come from.

He was ready to rip through the person who had caused it and make sure that the world saw what he did with people who threatened his brother.

"Goodness, this uncultured beast. Wait for me!" Haru said as he rushed after his brother’s beast, but Jahiro was faster and got there before him.

"What the fuck just happened here and why the fuck did you all try to murder my brother?" Jahiro’s voice boomed through the night as the misfits rugged to see what the heck had just happened.

They had all felt the impact of the blast and as unexpected as it was, it made them wonder how the hell had resulted in so much.

The moonlight was shining but with the dust filling the air, it was still pretty hard for them to see who had caused the blast, not even with their werewolf sights. It was so crazed and for a moment it felt like they were on a renaissance and shit.

"Yanna... Raqeeb stopped her and this happened," Kylian said and the misfits looked at him like this had to be the most insane of all the things that they had all seen happen.

None of it was making any sense and if they were being honest, whatever adjustment happened was crazy on so many levels.

"What do you mean he stopped her?" Chang Wook asked as he got closer to the body that had been covered in nothing but dust. There was a streak of blood from the sword that had hit her and it wasn’t pretty.

Granted, there were sputters all over but that didn’t make it any easier.

There wasn’t even a sign that this would be explained easily. It was so absurd on so many levels and the longer they stood there and tried to make things make sense, they realized that this was easily tomorrow’s problem.

"She was running towards the gates, muttering things that were incoherent. Anyway, Raqeeb managed to get her to stop, and then the whole blast happened," Kylian explained, the reasoning not making him feel any better.
