Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 298: In Which Love Had Beautiful Memories [2]
[RANIA]
"Kai?" Rania tried and Kaia let out a sigh of relief. He looked like he had been haunted by his mind at a lot of possibilities because his next words just got Rani asking herself what the hell had happened to the man.
"You’re real," Kaia said as she walked towards his mate, his steps so careful like he was worried that he would hurt her. It was not his intention and he didn’t want to ruin the celebration today anyway.
Kaisei looked like he wanted to be sure that this was happening. He had thought of so many possibilities about how this could turn out. He had imagined too many things and frankly, none of that was encouraging.
He had become so conflicted that there was a moment when he figured he wouldn’t show up to the birthday ball.
He wanted to wish her well and he had been going to do that, until he saw her standing there before him, her beautiful smile slicing through his heart like it was the best thing he would ever have.
He loved that smile on her and he was always going to defend it.
He wanted to see his woman happy, and right now as he watched her beautiful eyes swirl with confusion as to what he was doing, he was simply thankful that he also had dreams that came true.
There was a time he wouldn’t have thought this possible, but here he was, happy and his beasts were calm, something that was surprising and shocking to Kaisei himself. But his happiness mattered too, right?
"Oh Kai," Rania said as she reached out to kiss her new mate’s cheek in reassurance. It was all so new for her, and she was still trying to wrap her head around the fact that Kaia was her mate and honestly, it would take her a while.
However, she had thought about it and everything didn’t make any sense, not that she would ever complain. She was given the best protector out there and this was someone she knew would never hurt her, not intentionally and certainly not unintentionally.
With Kaia, she was safest from everything and everyone. He would protect her, that much she knew and she trusted him with her life, just like she trusted the misfits with hers.
They all trusted each other and this little family of psychos had just gotten better than anyone would ever come to tell them. But that was alright.
"I’m real, and belong to you. This is our journey, Kai, so don’t beat yourself up about it. Don’t overthink, because today is our day," Rania said as if she wasn’t the one overthinking.
She had thought of all the scenarios that could fuck up this day and each time, she tried to remind herself that today was a good day. The place was more than secret but with their captives out there, Rania couldn’t deny the fact that she was feeling a little antsy herself.
"We’ll go ahead, sister. Enjoy the moment, and think of nothing other than the Handsome man beside you," Dalrae respectfully interrupted her sister, her voice so sincere that Kaia himself had to look at the woman who had sworn her life to kill him if he ever hurt her sister.
She had promised to hurt him in ways that haven’t been invented yet if he hurt Rania.
It may have been crazy, seeing Dalrae so protective of Rania but over the months Kaia had fully understood why Dalrae had been that.
It wasn’t something he could deny that he wanted to do too, and he really appreciated that in all of that, Kim Rania had never been alone. His beloved always had someone to look out for her and that was easily the best thing in the evening.
Perhaps Dalrae had also gotten to understand that Kaia Seto may have been the devil, but he wasn’t the devil who would never hurt her sister. That much was enough for her, really.
Lim Dalrae didn’t care if Kaisei was easily the most explosive one, as long as her sister finally saw and got what happiness once felt like.
That was something that had evaded them over the years and now, there they were; just two broken girls who had finally found the pieces of the puzzle that fit them perfectly.
They truly deserved to be happy.
"Thank you," Kaia responded earnestly, making sure to extend his hand to Dalrae, something that acknowledged the fact that Kaisei didn’t think of Dalrae as a threat. It was new for many, and a fact that got everyone curious if this was really happening.
Granted, they had eyes and could tell that it really was but that did matter. Kaisei was a different type of man and they were all aware of that. It was pretty much self-explanatory at this point anyway.
"He has never extended his hand to anyone."
"Someone gets to greet the great Kaisei?" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
The murmurs went on and on, but Kaia didn’t mind. In fact, he was focused on Dalrae who hadn’t hesitated to extend hers to his so that they both were shaking their hands. It all seemed so new for most and clearly, Dalrae was curious.
She had never gotten to this point with Kaia and with her death threat lingering in the air around Kaia, he should have been wary of her, but he wasn’t. He didn’t have a reason to, because he would truly take care of her sister in the best of ways.
It was something that Kaisei was never going to negotiate about. He was going to be the best thing that had happened to her sister and he would make sure that Dalrae didn’t have to worry again.
He would prove that to her and no matter what happened he would make sure that things were right with them.
"What is the fuss about?" Dalrae asked earnestly and Han Seong wanted to respond but his brother figured that this was his to answer. After all, this was like a new beginning for the bastard of bastards.
"I only greet those who are very important to me and mine," Kaia said, making Dalrae look at him.
However, as their hands shook, Dalrae could feel a change in the atmosphere. Nature was acknowledging Kaisei Seto’s new bond and that was worth noting.
It was a beautiful sight, seeing the great Kaisei, humanity’s greatest evil, be this calm about everything. It gave them hope that perhaps humanity’s greatest evil could also be tamed, right?
"Wow," Dalrae said when Kaia pulled back his hand.
The air had changed and it was a good thing for them; because with the Handshake Kaia’s protection had instantly extended to Dalrae.
Of course, he was seriously here because he wanted to help Rania with her vengeance, but now, he was going to be protecting Rania’s little family of misfits and it was interesting.
Especially given that the misfits were the sisters of chaos themselves, even without the madness that was Kaisei Chihiro.
"Yeah, thank you for protecting her all this time," Kaia said once again and Rania teared up a little. She had never thought that she would ever meet someone who loved her like this, but damn.
"We’ll get going, Hiro. You also deserve the happiness, brother," Han said as he gently patted his brother on the back before he and the other misfits led the way to the ceremony.
"Come, my beloved. Let’s enjoy the night."
