Chapter 364: The Confession of A Lifetime [2]

[RANIA]

’You both are making me nervous,’ Han Seong said to the two in their link.

He wasn’t sure what he had been expecting when the two got together but this right here wasn’t it. He wasn’t sure he could rely on his brother or even his new sister-in-law for the truth or anything comforting.

Perhaps it was the concept of what could have been or what was meant that made them wonder if this was worth going after.

It was crazy how they had gotten to this point, but then none of them had really expected Han Seong to be the one who pooped up with the confession.

It was easily the most unexpected of things and right now, they were all just trying to find a way to make sure that whatever they were working on wasn’t as bad as what was expected.

’Relax, the worst she could say is no,’ Rania said and Kaia just looked at his brother as if to give him hope. He himself wasn’t sure what Paloma’s answer was, especially since he had seen his brother stare at the woman from a distance for so long.

They had all been watching the growth of Han and now that they were here for the proposal, it was making them feel a little older than what they had all thought, perhaps this was what growth looked like when they were all settled, right?

’She’s kidding, Haru. don’t listen to her,’ Kaia said just when Pal0ma gave her answer, making them instantly shut the link they were using.

"Actually, no," Paloma said and Rania instantly sat up, as she hadn’t expected that answer for the queen too.

She hadn’t thought that after all the flirtatious eyes that Paloma and Han Song had been giving each other, after what they had gone through, that Paloma would be the one who left everything to the side.

It just wasn’t the kind of thing that she did and for a moment there Rania felt bad for Han Seong. She knew them both and loved them both for each other, but damn, it seemed like theirs was a bond that wasn’t meant to see light, and that in itself was unsettling on so many fronts.

It just didn’t make any sense that after everything they had done, after what the two had gone through, that Paloma would say no. Perhaps there was a way out of this, but what was that way?

Did it involve the fixing of Han Seong’s broken heart, or was it meant to do them any good at a time when the only thing that they could have done was try to live through the days like it was the oath they were forced to tread? It all just didn’t make any sense.

"I knew it," Han Seing said softly as the crowds quieted down, staring in sadness as they watched the high warlock they had been championing for, just get up, and look around him.

Kaia knew what his brother was about to do and he knew that he wouldn’t follow Han Seong into the deepest darkest ends of the world. However, for the first time in his life that he had spent running away from everything Kaia wished that his brother didn’t make a run for it.

He said that somehow they both seem to be with each other.

He wished that they found a central ground as that was the one thing these two had been commonly known for. Surely they wouldn’t be able to lose themselves when they were just a set of people who had wished for a life that hadn’t been kinder to them right?

"Haru, no!" Kaia said just when Han Seong created a portal, like he was about to leave through it. Maybe that made him a coward. But then Haruhito had fought wars and won. He had been to worse situations than this, and won.

However, this was his first rejection, the one that even his brother calls to solve for him, because he when Hiro had changed.

Haru knew his brother wouldn’t be able to make Paloma choose him and that was scaring him, especially since he had his eyes set on Paloma and Paloma alone. It was a dull moment for the high warlock.

"I’ll see you when you go for the Cezaevi," Han Seong said and Paloma did the most unconventional of things.

Just before Han Seong could go through the portal, Paloma clawed herself and slashed her blood through the portal, making it impossible for Han Seong to go through.

Going through a portal stained by blood was something that even the lycans weren’t stupid enough to do. So Han Seung instantly closed the portal, and turned to Paloma who was staring at him with lovely eyes, confusing the high warlock even more.

She had made it clear that she didn’t want him, and now she was there looking at him like he was her whole world.

How the fuck was that even supposed to make any sense to anyone?

"You—" Han Seong began while Paloma just nodded.

"Yes. I couldn’t let you go before you heard my side of all this. In my culture, the kings and queens make the proposals to their partners and not the other way around," Paloma said and the rogues let out a sigh as they looked at the couple.

Hell, everyone there was already so tense that when they heard the rogue queen’s statement, they let out sighs of relief. They hadn’t expected this and certainly not when they had imagined everything going awfully wrong for them all.

Perhaps patience was something they all would have to learn eventually, right?

"That was so close," Dalrae said and they all looked at her, like she couldn’t read the room.

But then she couldn’t be blamed, because she and Rania hadn’t exactly grown up in an environment that would teach them what it meant to have the world staring at them for even the simplest of things.

Perhaps they would find a way around this, but until then, this was a reality that pleased many.

"Haruhito Yanagida Seto, having me as your beloved could be a terrible choice, especially since taking my side, will mean that you side with the rogues, the very outcasts of Obren as a whole and even the realms.

"My people are different, they have no one to run to other than me and they are ferocious, in everything they do. They are not quick to forgive, as no one forgave them for the sins they committed, otherwise, they wouldn’t have been rogues.

"My people are the most important bunch to me, other than this group of misfits, so taking my side will mean you take all the bands of crazies that come with me. That, to anyone, would be a burden, given at the moment, my people and I joined the battle to murder a reigning king.

"It doesn’t exactly fit the proposal for the bride of the year. All I’m saying is I come with a lot of baggage, and a bundled mess that no one can exactly deal with other than Rania. Is that a responsibility you wish to take?" Paloma asked and for the first time, everyone was silent. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

They were taking in what they had just heard and honestly, no that Paloma had spelled it all out. It sure did seem like a lot of work for someone who had frowned upon being taken care of.

"Seems like you forgot I am a Seto, love."
