Mated To My Stepbrother-Chapter 13
Aria POV
I couldn’t help but laugh loudly at her words. "Why would she even want to interrupt me?" I was about to stand up when Jaxon pulled me back to my seat, and then he stood up himself.
"What do you want now, Vanessa? What exactly do you want at this moment? Because I don’t see why you’ll be meddling in our business. If you have anything you want to say to me, say it personally. I don’t want you involving Aria in anything you’re trying to talk about," he said to her.
But I noticed something about the way he spoke, the way he frowned when he talked to her. Clearly, something is wrong. Maybe they hated each other. I could not just fix my hands on what exactly was happening. I just knew for sure that something was wrong. I looked at the both of them for a while before also standing up. I packed up my book and I stormed out, leaving them there, not even saying a word to Jaxon as I just wanted to be as far away from him as I could.
I got to the library and was surprised to see that it was actually empty. It seems as though everyone was busy, and only our class had actually finished their own lecture. I placed my book on the table and just sat there for a while, meditating before I finally started reading.
When I smelled that familiar perfume again, I looked up, and it was Jaxon. This time around, his frown was even deeper than when he was talking to Vanessa.
"What?" I questioned as he stood there for some seconds before he spoke.
"Did you really have to do that? Did you have to walk out when I was talking? You could have at least sat there. I had everything under control," he said as I scoffed.
"I don’t care if you had it under control. It’s none of my business. I was not. I did not walk out of there because you had it under control. Just because I did not want to meddle in whatever you two had. Either she’s your ex that you’re trying to make jealous or whatever, or she’s interested in you and you are using me to make her angry or whatever. I literally don’t care what you two are doing. Please don’t. Just don’t involve me in it," I said to him as he laughed.
"Involve you in it? She is not an ordinary human. She understands what is going on and she has a reason for meddling. Okay? If I had not stood up to her, she was ready to harm you. This is what Dad said I should protect you against. But you don’t understand. She just stormed off. What if it was her plan to actually make you angry and storm off? Come on, we don’t do things without planning it. I’m trying to protect you here. The least you can do is follow what I want," he yelled as I stayed quiet.
He was right. I shouldn’t have walked away like that. I had no idea what he was trying to do. "I’m sorry, okay? I just didn’t want to stay there and watch you two argue. I’m already used to you being all around girls, and you guys just always arguing and acting all lovey-dovey. I did not want to meddle in this one," I said.
I saw that Vanessa had the theme for you: always staring at you, always around you. I thought you two were like a theme together, and I thought she was your ex already and she was maybe pissed about it," I said to him as he sat beside me.
"I don’t have anything to do with her anymore, okay? It was all in the past when I thought maybe she was going to be the destined one for me. When I thought I would never get to find my mate. But now I found you, and I want to be with you all the time. No matter what happens. I want you by my side. Every time," he said to me as I laughed.
"You always want to be by my side. It can’t work. We can’t be by each other’s side. I’m your sister, don’t forget that. Your mom, your dad, and my mom are together. Just because I am your mate does not give you the right to think I would love you," I said to him and just continued to flip through my pages, hoping everything could stay silent.
But before I could know what was happening, he gripped my chin tightly and turned me so that our gazes would be fixed on each other. "Don’t ever say something like that to me. It breaks my heart to see you push me away the way you just did," he said as I shrugged.
"What was I supposed to do? Tell me what was I supposed to do? I just want to abide by what my dad told me to do." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"Your dad? He told me to stay away from you, and I’m doing it. I’m trying to keep you in a good position to die before you transform and start fighting again," I said to him as his mind clearly was not in what I was saying. His gaze was fixed on me but not really on me.
Just then, I realized his gaze was fixed on my lips, and I immediately shut them, only for him to look quickly in my eyes and look away. "What was that supposed to mean?" he questioned as I tried to fight my way off his grip, but he did not let go.
"Why did you do that?"
"I don’t know why, but I am just getting drawn to you every time," he continued, not even waiting for me to reply.
"Don’t do it. Don’t do it, Jaxon," I said, but before I could utter another word, his warm lips were on mine as he sucked on the bottom of my lips gently, and I couldn’t even control myself. I felt it, the butterflies coming again. My body was tingling, a kind of excitement I could not explain. Can I really stay away from Jaxon? Would I be able to ever stop myself?
