My Antique Mirror Is A Portal To Another World-Chapter 62: Imperial Tribute
Chapter 62: Imperial Tribute
With his head bowed, Feng Wu asked, "Heaven, what are your instructions?"
Looking at the tall masked man in black reflected in the antique mirror’s surface, Bai Hanyun asked, "Who are you?"
"This subordinate is named Feng Wu," he replied. "I want to thank Heaven for the delicious food you bestowed on me before."
Hearing this, Bai Hanyun thought for a moment and said, "I remember you."
Feng Wu’s eyes lit up at her words, and the corners of his lips lifted in a small smile. "It is my honor to be remembered by Heaven."
Bai Hanyun smiled and then asked, "Feng Wu, can you go find Feng Xiyan? I need to send him some vegetables and fruits."
"Yes, Heaven."
Obeying the order, Feng Wu carefully wrapped the bronze mirror with red silk cloth and placed it into the wooden box. Holding it tightly, he activated his lightness skill and rushed back to the barracks.
In less than two minutes, he appeared inside Feng Xiyan’s tent. Seeing that he was talking with Tan Pengtai, Feng Wu waited in the shadows.
Sensing his presence, Feng Xiyan asked, "Do you have something to report, Feng Wu?"
Feng Wu stepped out of the shadows, knelt before him, and said, "Master, Fairy Bai said she wants to send some vegetables and fruits to you."
Hearing this, Feng Xiyan stood up from his seat and took the wooden box from Feng Wu’s hands. After taking the bronze mirror out of the box, he saw that it was shrouded in a faint golden light and knew that Bai Hanyun was there.
At the same time, Bai Hanyun saw Feng Xiyan’s face reflected on the antique mirror’s surface and said, "Feng Xiyan, I’m going to send some supplies over. Get ready to receive them."
"Yes, Fairy Bai." Feng Xiyan then left the tent and stood outside. "Fairy Bai, you can send them over now."
"Alright." Bai Hanyun tapped one of the wooden crates and bags with the antique mirror.
In the next second, all the crates disappeared from the warehouse and reappeared at Feng Xiyan’s location.
Hearing the sound of an approaching car, Bai Hanyun quickly said, "I still have things to do. I will contact you later."
Without waiting for Feng Xiyan’s reply, she tapped the antique mirror’s frame twice and put it into her backpack. Just as she locked the warehouse, Hua Yuyu arrived.
Getting into the car, Bai Hanyun said, "Let’s go back now."
"Yes, Miss Bai."
While Bai Hanyun was on her way home, Tan Pengtai opened the wooden crates and bags to check what supplies she had sent this time.
When he saw the lychees and pears, his eyes lit up. Turning to Feng Xiyan, he said, "Great General, Fairy Bai actually gave us lychees and pears! These two fruits are an imperial tribute!"
Feng Xiyan took a closer look at the lychees and said, "These are larger and redder than the wild lychees from the southern border. The pears also look different from those I saw at the imperial banquet years ago."
Hearing this, Tan Pengtai laughed. "Great General, the food of fairies and gods is obviously better than what we mortals eat."
"Now that the imperial court wants us dead, Heaven has given us food and water better than what the young emperor enjoys. Just thinking about that makes me want to laugh in my sleep!"
As his words echoed around them, Feng Wu’s heart stirred. Hiding in the shadows, he looked at the wooden crates and bags filled to the brim with vegetables and fruits for a moment, then turned to look at his master.
’Since Master has Heaven’s blessing, then his chances of avenging the Feng Clan would be much higher. I wonder when Master will take action against the imperial court.’
While Feng Wu was speculating, Feng Xiyan’s heart was also moved by Tan Pengtai’s words.
He smiled and said, "General Tan, now that the news about us having food and water can no longer be concealed, we should start making preparations early."
Tan Pengtai nodded and asked, "Great General, what is your plan?"
Feng Xiyan placed the lychee back in the crate and said, "We don’t have enough armor and weapons. We need to produce more while we still have time."
Tan Pengtai nodded in understanding. "Great General, I have already made a list of available blacksmiths in Xiqiang City. As long as we can get enough materials, we can begin producing weapons and armor immediately."
After he said that, Feng Xiyan frowned slightly at his words.
Now that the transportation routes were blocked by the Yuezhi Tribe, there was no way to get materials from the outside. Unless he asked Bai Hanyun, they wouldn’t even be able to make a single arrow.
Noticing his furrowed brow, Tan Pengtai guessed what was on Feng Xiyan’s mind.
Lowering his voice, he said, "Great General, this subordinate knows that Fairy Bai has already helped us a lot, but she is the only hope we have of surviving this war."
Seeing that Feng Xiyan still said nothing, Tan Pengtai added, "Great General, I still have some valuables at home. How about we offer them to Fairy Bai and beg her for some firewood and copper ore?"
At those words, Feng Xiyan recalled how happy Bai Hanyun had been when they had previously offered her the offerings given by the soldiers and generals.
After a moment of consideration, he agreed. "Alright. Let’s do as you said."
Tan Pengtai’s eyes lit up at Feng Xiyan’s agreement. Clasping his fists, he said, "Great General, please leave this matter to me. I will collect the valuables and bring them here shortly."
"Good."
After finalizing their decision, Tan Pengtai ordered his subordinates to transport the vegetables and fruits to the warehouse.
While Tan Pengtai was busy collecting valuables to offer Bai Hanyun, Feng Xiyan returned to his tent.
Sitting behind the long table, he called out, "Feng Yi."
As soon as the words left his mouth, Feng Yi appeared. Kneeling before Feng Xiyan, he asked, "Master, what are your instructions?"
