My Joker System: From Low Mana Trash to the Mightiest Wizard!-Chapter 155: System Upgrade
Chapter 155: System Upgrade
Hal left his personal workshop in a great mood, under the smiling gaze of his satisfied future master.
He got everything he needed in exchange for a majority of his secrets and was now on track for a historic rise.
He even obtained an unexpected ten gold just like that.
Arriving at a walled and gated, ten-floor dormitory with generously spaced doors with Loki, Hal fell silent, realizing that he forgot to ask the deputy headmaster and the headmistress about how he would access his new dormitory room.
He scratched his head and decided to approach the guard first.
"Hello," he greeted with a smile.
"Hmm?" responded the guard on duty, looking his way after granting a familiar student entry.
To Hal’s surprise, before he even spoke, the guard’s eyes widened.
"H-Hal Fennec!" exclaimed the older man.
"Oh, you know me, brother?" asked Hal, his smile deepening.
"Of course! Who wouldn’t know you now? Hahaha! Welcome to the five-star freshmen dormitories. It’s an honor to finally meet you. What took you so long to come here, anyway? Normally, people would be scrambling to live in these luxurious chambers!" the guard responded.
Hal replied courteously throughout, even though the guard turned out to be a massive blabbermouth.
He was granted entry after about five minutes of casual chatting.
Walking through the finely crafted stone archway, Hal appreciated the clean red-brick path lined with flowers, eventually making his way to the majestic main door of the dormitory.
The one-star building inevitably looked like crap in comparison to this one.
Pushing the door open, Hal was greeted by a luxurious lobby, with an information desk at the center and a chandelier hanging from the high ceiling.
He approached the staff member manning the desk, showed his identification card, obtained the key to room 11—apparently on the second floor—and left under the admiring gaze of the slightly older young man at the counter.
Hal had long been sensing these gazes, and as a result, he was currently in his best mood.
"Hmm...it should be around here somewhere...ahh! There it is..."
The room wasn’t too difficult for him to locate.
He quickened his pace and walked closer, eagerly slotting the key into the keyhole upon arrival.
Opening the door, Hal’s already exuberant mood lifted even more, his heart giddy at the thought of living in such a room.
It was more appropriate to call it a suite, given how spacious his new dormitory room was.
There was a king-sized bed and a Manatech air conditioner on the far left, a plush sofa, a well-made table, and a holographic television setup in the center, lit by an artistic chandelier.
To the far right was a small kitchen, complete with basic cooking utensils and a manatech stove tucked behind a small dining bar.
’Damn, rich people get to live in a room like this their entire lives, huh?’ Hal mused, entering the room with Loki and closing the door.
"See this, buddy? You get to rest here every day now!"
"Woof!"
"Well then, let’s eat first, shall we?"
Hal immediately got to work and made use of his new kitchen, taking out a chunk of Ironskull Hog meat from the system’s inventory and seasoning it appropriately.
He then roasted half in the manatech oven and fried the other half in thin slices.
Thirty minutes later, Hal finished having a nice meal with Loki.
The pup then settled in a corner to take a nap.
Meanwhile, the master went ahead and tested his new bed, his expression blissful as he sank deeper into the softest cushion he had ever experienced in his entire life.
Even the ones in hotel rooms couldn’t hold a candle to it.
’Ahh, crap,’ Hal thought as he quickly sat back up, realizing the dangers of his new bed.
He still had things to do and couldn’t take a nap yet.
He would sleep later.
Snapping his fingers, the Joker System’s interface appeared:
==
Chaos Points: 17,720
==
’Okay, first things first...’
[Would you like to upgrade the Joker System to Level 2? Y/N]
[Y]
The next moment, a silvery-vermilion aura covered Hal’s entire body, though he didn’t really feel anything.
The phenomenon went on for five whole minutes before it stopped, followed by a series of notifications:

Hal was naturally dumbfounded.
At first, he thought that spending ten thousand Chaos Points was a harsh requirement for advancement.
Only when he saw that many new, necessary functions had been unlocked and were now upgradeable did he feel the ten thousand points were worth it.
In fact, it even felt like something of a steal.
’D-Damn...’
Taking one deep breath to regain control of his emotions, Hal began exploring the system, starting with the current draw rates:
==
Common Draw Success Rates:
Common-tier spell card = 47%
Uncommon-tier spell card = 0%
...
==
Of course, only common-tier spell cards could be drawn in the [Common]-tier draws, so Hal didn’t dwell much on it and quickly moved on to the higher-tier draws:
==
Uncommon Draw Success Rates:
Common-tier spell card = 32%
Uncommon-tier spell card = 15%
Rare-tier spell card = 0%
...
==
==
Rare Draw Success Rates:
Common-tier spell card = 28%
Uncommon-tier spell card = 12%
Rare-tier spell card = 6%
...
==
’F*ck...so that’s why I could only draw [Rare]-tier cards with the boost from consecutive draws, huh?’ Hal inwardly grimaced.
Six percent?
Wasn’t he just wasting points trying to draw [Rare]-tier spell cards this way?
"Let’s see..."
He currently had 7,720 Chaos Points left.
He needed to use them wisely, or he would have a harder time growing stronger.
