Chapter 144: Recruitment Offer

5 Minutes Later.

Rye sat on a wooden chair, a cup of tea resting in her hand with grace as she leaned backwards.

Her clothes and voice, both didn’t match the professional demeanor she was trying to portray, but the audience couldn’t care less about it currently.

In front of her chair, Aaron and the cohort sat calmly.

With Aaron sitting directly opposite to her and Claire sitting beside him with her hand holding his.

Her eyes were focused and peeled onto the teenage looking delinquent woman.

She felt like a momma bear, appearing menacing with her blade resting in her lap as if it was completely normal.

And having the weapon wasn’t really breaking any laws either, she just wasn’t allowed to activate any skills or use the weapon to cause any sort of harm to the property or Rye.

Thus Rye wasn’t even fazed by the sword.

She calmly took a sip of her tea and rested it on a saucer, humming, "So, how did you like my amazing recording?"

She repeated her earlier question.

"It was good. Kinda rude to remove the armour that my girlfrien– ’s friend gave me though." Aaron nodded, feigning calmness and normality.

The less agitated he looked, the better it would be for his image.

And it seemed like Rye was in favour of his thought process as she nodded in agreement.

"I can understand, truly." She said with a knowing smile, as if she already knew what was going on behind the curtains between him and Eva, "But the thing is... it was ugly."

Aaron and Eva both coughed at the blunt truth behind her words.

But if that wasn’t enough...

"And also, it gave my leader an ick. She wanted it gone." Rye added.

"Who’s your leader?" Claire asked quickly, not giving her a chance to linger on such useless topics.

"That’s a secret I cannot tell you." Rye shook her head, "But if you want, I can let some of you meet her yourself. You just need to accept some terms."

"And what terms would that be?" Aaron asked.

"Nothing much," Rye placed the saucer on a nearby table after finishing the tea, fixing her neon jacket with a smile.

Once that was done, she looked up and trailed her eyes around the group, "I have an offer for you guys. Our guild is quite lacking in the combat department, so how about joining hands with us?

The terms would be fair, and with Aaron’s rising popularity I can assure you that you will be going quite high in your lives."

"Oh yeah? If we wanted to join, why would we choose your non-combatant guild over a bigger and stronger guild? I’m sure many such guilds would be lining up to recruit us." Claire said with a light smirk.

"Ah." Rye raised her hand and smiled before shaking her head, "A light correction. They would be lining up to recruit HIM. Not you all."

She made heavy emphasis on the word ’him’, making Claire’s smirk falter and the face to drop.

But it didn’t seem like Rye had the intention to hold back her punches either as she continued.

"I have done some research on your group and for a small place like Snombi, you lot are certainly talented." Rye praised, "But it seems you forgot that the praise was only based on your surroundings and the relativity.

Even Gammora is only a tier 2 city, and you nearly got killed if not for Scarlet saving the day. Pray tell me which great guild will be interested in raising a bunch of weaklings like you lot?"

Katie grit her teeth the hardest, especially when Rye had intentionally lingered her gaze on the poor woman.

After all, Rye had been following the group for the whole day and she had watched each and every footage before generating the edit.

She knew who was strong and who lacked.

And during the research, Katie managed to come out as the biggest defaulter of the group by a huge margin.

Each and everyone of the group had some sort of a specialization except for Katie, who was mediocre at best.

"Is that so?" Jaq hissed coldly, not willing to listen to a bratty delinquent trashtalk her team.

"Don’t take it personally, Jaqueline. None of those taunts were targeted to you. Among them, You, Claire Reed and Evangeline Faulkner have the highest potential. Except for Aaron Cross, of course." Rye smiled politely.

But before any of them could burst out again, Rye continued.

"But of course, you have been together for a long time. You won’t want to be separated like this. Thus, we from Buzznet, are willing to take in your entire team."

None of them liked how Rye disregarded both Katie and Lia, but truth be told, it wasn’t that surprising.

Healers and buffers like Eva were always in demand so that was no brainer.

Jaq’s skillset and experience spoke for itself as they all saw how useful she is in battle.

If she were a little more serious and less playful, Aaron had no doubts that Jaq could’ve threatened Claire for the leadership.

But alas, he won’t be surprised if Jaq had herself denied the position, claiming ’it’s too much work.’

And lastly Claire... her skills and class both weren’t that uncommon or rare, but her fighting techniques and the core basics were quite perfected.

In addition to her freaky instincts, she also was a cut above the rest.

While for Katie and Lia, both were mediocre at best.

Lia was above average slightly, since she was an experienced anemomancer and also dabbling into pyromancy, but it still wasn’t at the level where she would be actively sought after.

And Katie was just a mediocre tank/melee attacker.

A foot soldier that would be hired for meat shielding purposes in a high-stake battle.

It was harsh, but truth.

"Why would you go so far for us?" Aaron asked in a feigned ignorant tone.

"Of course because we can make you even more famous and bigger if you’re with us, Aaron."
