New World, New Life: I Became A Bigshot In The Ancient World-Chapter 195: FIGHTING MILLIE, THE CARTWHEEL DAEMON
Chapter 195: FIGHTING MILLIE, THE CARTWHEEL DAEMON
Aristia was left staring at nothing in front of her.
The chains had disappeared again!
She wasn’t even sure if she was in the same place again.
It was still dark, but now there were no more stars. The moon wasn’t in the sky either.
If it had been nighttime earlier,.then now,.it was like a shadow had enveloped the sky, draping it in pure darkness.
Somehow, however, it was dark enough to not see even though there was no source of light.
Hearing a sound in front of her, Aristia faced forward.
[Eh...?!]
There was an animal in front of her.
No. That animal was clearly the Millie she had seen within the chains.
But there was no trace of familiarity in her eyes. This Millie was staring at her with hostility.
Aristia recalled her conclusion— that she would have to fight her daemon.
"So that time’s here, huh?" She muttered.
The Millie looking at her suddenly moved.
In the blink of an eye, the nine tailed fox-like animal was beside her.
Aristia’s pupils constricted at the overwhelming sense of danger she felt.
Quickly, she moved back just in time to avoid Millie’s swiping claws.
Whoosh!
She had caught sight of a silvery glint accompanied by a slicing sound.
There was no knife or sword. That silvery glint was just Millie’s sharp claws, and that sound was just her claws slicing through the air.
Her claws were very sharp, looking like they could leave a deep wound if they made contact with skin.
Aristia couldn’t believe what would have happened if she hadn’t moved away in time.
"I can’t believe this."
Millie’s eyes remained calm, watching her.
Under Aristia’s eyes, she dashed toward her again. Midway, she leaped into the air.
Aristia barely dodged as claws sharper than steel swept past her cheek. She jumped back again, her shoes skidding along the hard surface below.
Swoosh—CRACK!
Millie’s tail struck like a whip, shattering a chunk of the floor.
Aristia’s heart thundered in her chest.
[She’s fast. No. Faster than fast.]
She took deep breaths, crouched in a position where one of her knees and hands were touching the ground, while while her other hand was resting on her knee.
She got up hurriedly.
[Okay, enough of this shit. You did not just try to harm my face!] Aristia was enraged now.
She gritted her teeth, anger flashing in her eyes.
She stood calmly, waiting for Millie to make the first move.
The next moment, Millie moved again.
Aristia saw just a blur, but she wasn’t fazed a bit.
She focused intently. Just as the blur was a hair’s breadth away from her, she moved to the side. At the same time, she threw a punch.
Millie ducked.
A claw met her side—slicing through her clothes and grazing her skin.
Aristia gasped, feeling pain shooting up along her ribs. But she gritted her teeth and lunged back, sweeping her leg under Millie’s body.
Millie jumped. All her movements were graceful.
And from the air, she lunged.
[Got you!]
As Millie struck, Aristia ducked low and countered with a sharp jab to her side. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
Millie flinched, loosing her footing for just a second.
Aristia used the opening.
Left. Right. Elbow. Step back. Kick.
Her body moved like she had trained for this her whole life.
She gave Millie no chance to counterattack. She quickly ran behind her.
Millie turned and bared her teeth and Aristia shot her a cocky smirk.
"Don’t forget, I won’t sit back and take a beating. But you," she flicked her wrist to Millie. "You deserve a beating and you’ll get one."
She mumbled beneath her breath.
"Sorry Millie, but I have to do this. I can’t let you kill me, can I?"
She still remembered that if she didn’t defeat Millie, she’d die.
"I still love my life, thank you very much!"
She clenched her fists and narrowed her eyes, looking Millie up and down.
As Millie ran towards her again, she stood still.
Millie quickly maneuvered behind her and swiped again.
[She’s smart.] Aristia thought, leaning her body to the right.
As if she had already anticipated this, Millie’s hand that had been going towards her shifted at the last moment, heading brutally towards her body that was in the process of tilting to the right.
However, what she didn’t expect was that Aristia’s body would move only an inch before reverting to a straight position. Her claws swiped at nothing but empty air.
Meanwhile, Aristia had already quickly moved behind her.
Millie’s eyes unconsciously widened.
Aristia squeezed with a small smirk. The fluffy tail in her hand was soft.
[Hm. This soft, fluffy thing really smashed the floor?!]
She gripped the tail harder and then swing, turning around.
She turned and turned and swung with all her might before finally releasing the daemon.
The daemon crashed to the ground.
Immediately, Aristia walked to it and dragged its tail even though turning so much had made her slightly dizzy.
She repeated the process of spinning a few times until Millie lay on the ground, defeated.
[It’s like a spinning cartwheel.]
As she walked slowly toward her with a small smile, Millie’s fingers twitched.
Once Aristia’s hand made contact with her tail, her eyes bulged. She shook her head.
"Oh?" Aristia paused.
Millie sprang to her feet.
Aristia’s brows raised, thinking she still wanted to fight.
But Millie lowered her head.
[What’s this? She’s submitting?]
"You admit defeat?" She asked.
The daemon nodded, lowering her head further.
"Oh... that’s good then." Aristia cleared her throat and dusted her palms.
She wouldn’t tell anyone that she had been enjoying swinging Millie.
[When did I become sadistic?]
However, her eyes narrowed in satisfaction.
Millie suddenly walked towards her. Once she was in front of Aristia, she raised a paw. She was actually the same height as Aristia.
[What’s she doing?]
With a paw raised, she put it on the side of Aristia’s shoulder and leaned her forehead on hers.
A bright light shone again, illuminating the darkness.
When the light faded, Aristia noticed they were back in the white space. She quickly looked up at the chains.
Half of the chains had disappeared, and Millie within them looked less restricted.
"Wow! I really did it."
She stood stably for a few seconds, before her legs gave out. She faded into unconsciousness.

’Hello, Aristia.’ Aristia was startled to hear a voice in her head.
She whipped her head around. "Who said that?"
But there was no one around except her.
Her eyelashes fluttered lightly.
"...tia?"
"...Tia."
"Tia."
The voice sounded distant, but became clearer with each call.
Aristia’s eyelashes fluttered even more.
She blinked and slowly opened her eyes. The bright sunlight coming from the window hit her and she winced, covering her eyes.
She blinked slowly as she lay on the bed, processing the scene in front of her.
Wilson and Alaric were in her room, sitting around her and hovering near her face, Catherine was sitting by the bed, holding her hand like she was afraid Aristia might disappear, and Adeline and Owen were standing a few steps behind them. They all had the same worried look in their eyes.
"Mama? Papa?" Aristia rubbed her eyes.
[Gosh, what happened?] She thought, feeling a bit of nostalgia at seeing them staring at her with that worried gaze. This scene looked familiar!
Her eyes widened. [How long did I sleep for?]
"You’re awake," Catherine whispered, tears glistening in her eyes. She reached out and cupped Aristia’s face. Her touch was warm and loving. "You’ve been unconscious for two days. We were so worried."
"Two days?" Aristia’s voice cracked. She winced as she tried to move her sore arms. Her body felt like it had been through a storm; every muscle ached.
Aristia rubbed her head as memories of what happened flooded back to her. She shot up quickly and groaned.
[I shouldn’t have done that.] She thought, rubbing her sore arms as Catherine quickly supported her.
"Careful," Catherine said worriedly.
"I felt your aura rise, then it suddenly faded. Adeline was trying to wake you up, but couldn’t. When I arrived at your room, I found you were sitting on the bed with your legs crossed and carrying Millie. Then today, there was a sudden burst of aura. You only woke up today. What happened, Tia?" Wilson looked worried, but there was also a knowing look, as if he was aware of the reason.
"I was trying to feel the connection with Millie. I fought with Millie and broke the chains partially."
"You broke the chains." Wilson leaned forward, his brows shooting up. Now that he had confirmation, he felt surprised.
His daughter was just six years old and had succeeded in breaking the chains even though partially.
It was exceptional as there were only a few number of children who had done so at her at her age, especially since she was a girl.
He was both proud and happy.
But still...
"This is serious, Tia." Wilson crossed his arms, glaring at her like she’d done something reckless. "You should have let me know what you were planning to do."
"If I told you, would you have let me, Papa?" Aristia asked knowingly.
She looked down at Millie beside her, looking up at her with wide eyes. Her eyes seemed to shine brighter and looked more piercing.
Wilson sighed. He knew he wouldn’t have. He’d have told her to wait.
Catherine finally spoke after keeping silent for a while. "What exactly happened?" She looked worried, but also curious.
She hadn’t been this curious when her brother had manifested a daemon, neither had she been when he had broken the chains. But now, with her daughter doing so, she was greatly curious.
Aristia let out a small breath.
